I can remember my grandmother telling me about the Mormon “ wives “ scandal. So many women felt that they would have no chance of having a husband due to the huge death toll of young men from the fighting in WW1. It made them extremely vulnerable to the sweet talk of these ghastly men. It really was not much fun being a spinster or a widow at that time. The Mormons would especially target the less attractive young women, because they were the most vulnerable. My grandmother had no time for Mormons!!

While polygamy existed historically, pointing to its presence in the Bible or Roman history doesn’t make it inherently acceptable. By that logic, would you also defend other actions common in those times-like slavery, genocide, or child sacrifice-just because they’re in the Bible or practiced by the Romans? Just because something was done in the past doesn’t mean it’s ethical or justifiable today. As for qualifications, dismissing our research without addressing specific inaccuracies doesn’t strengthen your argument. If you believe we’ve presented anything incorrectly please by all means provide your sources that can prove us wrong.

@@BehindTheVeilOfficial So you express your opinion and assume you are right and the believers are wrong, the Jews, the Christians, the Muslims, but you are correct? Because you are...modern? Well everything woke must be correct then too? Please justify your logic. @@BehindTheVeilOfficial Your statement: "While polygamy existed historically, pointing to its presence in the Bible or Roman history doesn’t make it inherently acceptable. By that logic, would you also defend other actions common in those times-like slavery, genocide, or child sacrifice-just because they’re in the Bible or practiced..." , that is a statement of opinion. Conversely, slavery (indentured servitude), genocide, and child sacrifice are still common place in this day. It doesn't seem as though you don't appreciate that people were asserting their religious rights back in the USA in the 19th Century. Note that the way the LDS leadership implemented the practise is not good, the question is whether it was wrong in terms of the religion to those who believe.

@@nickmansfield1 It’s true that slavery, genocide, and child sacrifice sadly still exist in parts of the world today, but just because something is a religious practice doesn’t make it automatically acceptable. Harmful practices like slavery, genocide, or child sacrifice are condemned not just as matters of opinion but because they cause significant harm-that’s why laws exist to ban them, even if some try to justify them as religious rights. Religious freedom is important, but it doesn’t grant a pass to harm others or avoid accountability. As for your point about the way LDS leadership implemented polygamy being 'not good,' that’s literally the focus of this video and many others we’ve done. We’re specifically addressing how early Mormon leaders’ practices caused harm and were often coercive, deceptive, or abusive. We’re not calling out any other religion or belief system-our focus is entirely on Mormonism.

You need to stick to the facts more. Joseph was against slavery, but from his statement you quoted indicates, that even though he was kind to all, he believed in segregation. I don't think he, or many other people at that time understood the true meaning of species. As far as your quotes from the Book of Moses are concerned, they were accurate and true, if not politically correct by today's standards. Ex-Mormon 2013 I've always believed that the original Joseph Smith church went apostate after Kirkland when Joseph Smith ran from his members and the Law to Nauvoo, IL and reorganized the religion as The Church of the Latter-day Saints. It was further apostasized at the power takeover of Brigham Young. I'm still disgusted of the lies I've been fed throughput my Mormon life. The closest rendition to the original Church of Christ (Joseph Smith) is the RLDS/CoC under Emma Smith as guardian fir Joseph Smith III. Even then, the CoC has stepped away from The Book of Mormon and are having problems with prophet family succession.

You don’t have to agree with us-that’s perfectly fine. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and I’m more than happy to engage in civil discussion. However, when the conversation escalates to immature name-calling, that’s where I draw the line. You keep emphasizing that God is unchangeable and that His judgment is “fair and impartial,” yet the doctrines you’re defending, like the racial priesthood ban and pre-mortal judgments, are anything but fair or impartial. Are you seriously suggesting that someone’s circumstances in this life-such as being born into racial exclusion-are the result of some unknowable pre-mortal judgment? If so, what exactly is fair or just about punishing individuals for actions they can’t remember, prove, or defend themselves against?

Man and his circumstances are what changes and God acts accordingly! Look at Jacob 2:30. God clearly states that if He would authorize polygamy, He would command so, but otherwise heed His command to have one wife! Also, God decided to lift the racial ban as many prophets knew would happen, but just didn't know when, but God did it, not because He is a changeable God, but because the circumstances of man warranted it, just as they did when He caned authority for polygamy!!!

If God is truly unchanging, then why were doctrines like the racial priesthood ban or polygamy implemented in the first place? Are you suggesting that God allowed a racist policy because His people were racist? That doesn’t make sense. Shouldn’t God, as a perfect and unchanging being, lead His people to rise above their prejudices rather than condoning or reinforcing them? If God is influenced by man’s circumstances, then it suggests these doctrines weren’t divinely inspired at all, but rather products of human prejudice and cultural bias.

A perfect example of what I am talking about is the priesthood ban. You are crying, like the people if Sodom were probably crying that God's judgment was harsh! You may think so, but if you do, blame God because the race ban was not started by Brigham Young or Joseph Smith. It was a curse put on the seed of Cain and the seed of Ham just as mentioned in Genesis, the Book if Abraham, and the Book of Moses! Does it cause harm? Yes, but that is their punishment for actions in the pre mortal life! I am sure that you don't understand all this just as Daniel chapter 12 mentions, but regardless, it is the truth! S other question you should ask yourself is this. Why are you so aggressive attacking the true restored church of Christ, and why have you devoted so much time in your life to do so?!? There are so many other churches, false ones that teach ridiculous doctrines, like altar calls which are not Biblical at all, or the stupid perpetual virginity of Mary doctrine, despite the fact that the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus had four brothers and two sisters! Why?!! Could it possibly be that you are an EC with the spirit if apostasy?!?
@BehindTheVeilOfficial
@BehindTheVeilOfficial 9 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Let’s be very clear: blaming God for a racist policy like the priesthood ban is not only deeply flawed but also raises serious questions about the concept of a just and loving deity. Are you suggesting that God would punish entire generations of people for supposed actions in a pre-mortal life-something there’s no evidence for and that relies entirely on human interpretations of scripture? If that’s your version of God, then maybe it’s time to ask yourself whether you’re worshiping God or simply defending harmful, man-made doctrines. The priesthood ban wasn’t “harsh judgment”; it was a reflection of the prejudices of the time, perpetuated by leaders who claimed divine authority. Hiding behind scripture or blaming God for policies that caused immense harm only deflects responsibility. If this truly came from God, then what does that say about His character? And if it didn’t, what does it say about the leaders you so adamantly defend? As for your accusations of apostasy, let me ask you this: Why are you so intent on attacking those who are simply presenting the facts? If the Church is true, shouldn’t it be able to withstand scrutiny? Why are you more concerned about defending harmful teachings than addressing the pain they caused? And deflecting to other faiths doesn’t change the fact that the LDS Church is what we’re discussing here. If you believe it’s the “true restored Church,” then you should hold it to the highest standard-not make excuses for its failures or dismiss its harmful doctrines as “harsh judgments.” Instead of attacking us, maybe it’s time to reflect on why you feel the need to defend policies and doctrines that caused so much harm in the first place.

If the truth about the Church’s history is as clear as you believe, it shouldn’t require personal attacks to defend it. Instead, let’s focus on the documented accounts and have an honest discussion about what they reveal. And while some witnesses did mention the Urim and Thummim, the Church has acknowledged that Joseph Smith primarily used a seer stone during the translation of the Book of Mormon. Calling someone ignorant doesn’t address the evidence or further the discussion. If you believe these accounts are misrepresented, I’d encourage you to provide specific examples or evidence rather than resorting to dismissive language. It’s important to clarify that the testimonies of the witnesses often describe their experiences as spiritual or visionary. For example, Martin Harris himself stated that the plates were shown to him in a vision, and David Whitmer described seeing them with “spiritual eyes.” These aren’t my words-they come directly from the historical record. As for “hefting” the plates, while some witnesses reported feeling their weight, the plates were always covered, and no one examined them uncovered. This raises legitimate questions about the nature of their interactions with the plates. Acknowledging this isn’t about “changing history”-it’s about carefully examining the evidence and understanding what those testimonies actually mean.

The historical record clearly shows that Joseph Smith primarily used a seer stone-the same one he used for treasure digging-in a hat to translate the Book of Mormon, despite later attempts to emphasize the Urim and Thummim for credibility. This is a well-documented fact, even acknowledged by the Church itself in recent years. As for the witnesses, while more than eleven people may have claimed to interact with the plates, their experiences mostly spiritual or visionary rather than physical. Basically none of them saw the plates with their natural eyes uncovered, which raises important questions about the nature of their testimonies. Telling someone to “study more and repent” doesn’t address the evidence we’ve presented-it’s simply dismissive. Citing the story of Phinehas to justify or defend harmful doctrines like blood atonement raises some serious questions. Are we really supposed to model our modern faith on an Old Testament story of violent retribution? If so, how does that align with Christ’s teachings of love, forgiveness, and turning the other cheek? The New Testament represents a shift away from the harsh, fear-driven laws of the Old Testament toward a gospel centered on grace and redemption. Justifying blood atonement or any similar doctrine using ancient examples seems not only outdated but fundamentally opposed to Christ’s message. You should ask yourself: is the LDS Church following Christ’s example, or clinging to outdated, fear-based teachings that belong in the past? If your faith relies on stories like Phinehas to defend harmful doctrines, it might be time to reexamine what truly aligns with the gospel of Christ.

You may disagree with this doctrine, but it is a true doctrine under the correct circumstances I have just as McConkie stated when asked by the first presidency to expound on it. Also, there are many doctrines and teachings and judgments if God that mist people don't understand, like polygamy, like the race ban, like why the priest put blood on his toe, like what destroy means, like the fierce judgments of God when his commandments are not kept, like in Sodom, etc. What the Lord meant by destroy is that your body would be destroyed and not that one is ever put out of existence.
@BehindTheVeilOfficial
@BehindTheVeilOfficial 10 күн бұрын
While I understand your perspective, I have to challenge the idea that anyone should ever give up their life for religious beliefs under any circumstances. No doctrine, no matter how “true” it may be considered, should require such an extreme sacrifice. Religious teachings should inspire growth, love, and understanding-not fear or the destruction of life. The concept of “destroying” someone’s body as a judgment from God feels deeply incompatible with the principles of grace, forgiveness, and redemption that are central to most faiths, including Christianity. Doctrines like blood atonement belong to a different era-an era where fear was often used as a tool for control. Today, we should question whether such teachings truly reflect the nature of a just and loving God.
@GeorgeDemetz
@GeorgeDemetz 10 күн бұрын
Yes, the point I am trying to make is that if you have a strong testimony that the LDS church is the true restored church of Jesus Christ then your responsibility is to do everything that you can to help the church to grow and prosper. Yes, false doctrines should be called out, but how?!? In the best way possible as to nor damage the church! So, since this teaching was a thing of the past and there is no credible evidence that anyone ever volunteered to shed his blood in this manner, which was a requirement, then how should it be handled?!? It would be to affirm your testimony of the truthfulness of the church as Paul did, and you could say that this doctrine was previously taught in the church truly that it could only be done in a theocracy as in Moses day and voluntarily for some unpardonable sins.
@BehindTheVeilOfficial
@BehindTheVeilOfficial 10 күн бұрын
I understand your desire to protect the Church, but shielding harmful teachings like blood atonement in the name of growth and prosperity isn’t the answer. The idea that this doctrine should only be discussed in a way that doesn’t “damage the Church” prioritizes institutional reputation over truth and accountability. Even if blood atonement was never fully enacted or required, the fact that it was taught as divine truth is deeply troubling. Fear-based doctrines have no place in a faith centered on love, forgiveness, and redemption. Brushing these teachings aside as “a thing of the past” doesn’t erase the harm they caused or the lingering questions about how such ideas were ever considered acceptable. If the Church is truly led by God, it should be able to withstand honest scrutiny and criticism. Transparency strengthens faith far more than sweeping uncomfortable truths under the rug. Ignoring the darker parts of history only ensures they’ll continue to haunt the Church.

Je yold zpeter privstrly, snd he eent sbout foing everything thst he could fo yo help Christd church to grow, and that is the example we sll should follow!

I agree that prophets are human and will make mistakes-that’s exactly what we’re talking about here. The issue isn’t that mistakes happen, but how those mistakes are handled. Harmful doctrines like blood atonement caused real damage, and simply sweeping them under the rug or dismissing them as “human error” doesn’t address their impact. Paul privately correcting Peter worked in their context, but when teachings like blood atonement affect countless lives, open discussion and accountability are necessary. Holding leaders accountable for their mistakes isn’t about tearing them down; it’s about learning from the past and ensuring these harmful doctrines aren’t repeated. And while I agree that members should seek truth, I find it problematic to place the responsibility entirely on the members when prophets are meant to be divinely guided. If it’s up to the members to figure out what’s true and what’s not, what’s the purpose of having prophets and apostles in the first place? Prophets are sustained as leaders who receive revelation to guide the Church. If members are expected to discern what is true on their own, it undermines the very role of prophetic authority. It’s not just a matter of faith-it’s about the accountability of leaders whose teachings have real consequences for those who trust them.

Scott, think! Do you know all of these men well enough to judge them?!?

None of us can truly know the inner thoughts or intentions of these men. However, the purpose of this video isn’t to judge them personally but to examine their teachings, actions, and the impact those had on others. History provides us with their words, their recorded teachings, and the outcomes of those teachings. When doctrines like blood atonement result in fear, harm, or even death, it’s important to critically analyze their origins and implications. This isn’t about personal judgment; it’s about understanding how these ideas shaped the lives of those who followed them and their lasting impact.
