That unit won't but some units should, right? SMRTD5000XL has hot swappable batteries, and a bypass switch for bypassing the batteries. And it has a LED light that should light up when there are no batteries connected. At least that's according to what the user manual said. Does all of that make sense? Or will the unit still not do anything without batteries? I know that UPS is typically just will not do anything without batteries. Or without batteries connected. But from the user manual of this UPS, it suggests that it should. Basically I don't want to waste time and energy getting batteries for it considering how expensive they are If the unit isn't any good you know?

does anyone know this. I enter the part when need to choose date. But only date in month i was able once to changde and afther clicking the enter button it confirmed the all date replacement. Afther that i tried a few more times to set the date but this time it didnt want to enter to a part when we are able to set date. It just ask me "new battery question part" and afhter clicking yes it exit the setup. ....? Anyone. The model is SmartUps 1500

Is it acceptable for the utility company to be 10% or is it 20%? Because you said 20% but you said 108 Volts. 108 would be 10% off of 120 Volts. If it's a 20% fluctuation from the utility then it should be 96 Volts and that sounds like it would be unacceptable because that seems almost like it should almost always start pulling from battery when hooked up to a server, NASs, switches, or any network infrastructure really. But im a layman when it comes to electricity as a whole. Im a network administrator/RMM, MSP, and designer and you would think id know more about the proper voltage but I wanted to ask because I use APC UPSs for my end points and Tripp-lite UPSs for my server racks.

Hi Jon, My issue is a little different. I recently purchased a good used APC C 1500 UPS and it sat for maybe two months before I got to use it. It has the LCD display. After installing it, I connected power supply lead to main power then plugged one load cable to surveillance unit. I wanted UPS to my CCTV system in case of a black out. After pressing the power on button on UPS, the battery charge indicates very low battery due to it having sat around for a while, the batteries have discharged. What happens after a short time, after having line voltage, the UPS will drop the output voltage then switch off. Why would it turn off if it's connected to mains power. It should be charging the batteries AND be able to provide output to power external device right ? The Battery back up is only there in case of a power outage, but there is no outage as such as it's connected to mains power. Would a bad battery pack be messing with the electronics and is shutting the whole unit as a form of protection ? I hope you can share some knowledge here please. Thank you.

Ha! Well, my power here varies from 89 V or worse, to 175 V, sometimes many times per second. Anytime anyone wants to do welding anywhere nearby, which is quite frequent considering the number of houses being built around here, they just have a long branch with a wire on it to throw the wire with a hook on it onto the overhead power lines! These fluctuations along with the frequent power outages chews through UPS batteries in about six months. The batteries in my APC UPS are absolutely and totally dead, but I'll have a look for the sensitivity button anyway. I've had to just put my computers, whose power supplies are fine from 100-250VAC, onto the surge protection only, for a long time. Using my other (non-APC) UPS only to backup the power for the Internet equipment.

Hi! Your tutorial is helpful but I have a problem with changing the date as it changes back to the old date after a few seconds. Is there any other way to change the date for new batteries? Edit: Problem solved! Just have to do it manually (connect the ups & my laptop) using its software to update everything.
