I'm not getting any younger, and got tired of hearing myself saying, I'll go one day. Well, that never happens when you do that, right? lol. Thank you for making this video, Danny. It will help me plan this next time around better and not make some of the mistakes I made the first time with reservations, when I didn't know what I was doing. Ha! Ha! I had booked everything this year and had to turn around and cancel due to a family emergency.
Great video that Danny, very informative many thanks. Everything looks very peaceful there especially during those night shots. Hopefully I can get over some time soon. Quiet little town of Salem's Lot!

@DannyEverything101 Danny have you and the minority ever considered doing a teams call and get some of the Salem's Lot fans online community on a call from around the globe? Would be cool that to hear everyone's experiences about how they found the 79 miniseries back in the 70s or 80s. I'd be happy to join in 👍. Ian

Dr Danny! excellent filming of our capital city! Respecting the step by step instructions you do, being a retired teacher myself! Loving the at end of y'all and the Missuses! Like Ben I hope for a director's cut someday instead of the edited away to nothing thing we got ( our recent '24 version) How did you get the exact locations ? locals? notes from movie scripts? I have another brainstorm on the Barlow character, involving Matthew Goode! ( in his Dracula appearance, in "Abigale" )
@DannyEverything1019 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words. I got a lot of my initial information several years ago on the site Salem's Lot Then and Now. Ian did an AMAZING job listing the locations for all of us. I had to do some of my own research as well. I was the one who found the location where Ben and Susan first meet and that's in my first video I did in Ferndale. As for Matthew Goode, I'll have to check that out now. You have me curious.
@sammyp-s2s6 күн бұрын
A slight variation to the scenario, I may have mentioned to you and the other Minority members in earlier weeks… Barlow appears (perhaps like in the dump where Dud tends the fires in the ‘04 miniseries ) totally human looking and appearing, both kind and interested in you -perhaps a Leland Gant variation, like in the “Needful Things” . As more and more town folk succumb to the mysterious plague inhabiting the lot Barlow has less and less need to appear in this human guys has more and more the townsfolk are taken over by him to he becomes the full-blown monster portrayed I think so well by Matthew Goode, -as Dracula-in “Abigail” absolutely ferocious and terrifying…
I think I posted the clip of Abigail to you somewhere on here

Hi, from Northen Ireland. I've only discovered this intervuew today and i would like to add how great it was to hear from Ron. Salems Lot frightened a generation in a good way back then. Its burned into our minds for life. It still stands up to this daydue to its quality. The entire cast, production and score were amazing. One of the very beat and its great to listen to these reflective stories of its production. Especially the famous window scene. My friends and i still quite the dialogue and mention the film to this day and will continue to do so.

I adore the '79 series, it takes the time to introduce the townsfolk and their various inter-relationships, the acting is top notch, and the atmosphere of slow palpable dread is unsurpassed in any other vampire film. Not enough tedious jumpscares and too much build up for people's short attention spans nowadays unfortunately. I just feel so sad that we have lost so many of those fine actors now, especially with the recent deaths of the two 'survivors' of the story David and Lance. Ron sounds such a genuine, intelligent and sweet guy. 'I'm fat and bald and old, of course I look mean!'. Well Mr Scribner, you may describe yourself so but you were the most photogenic little vampire to ever grace the screen, and that's counting Eddie Munster!
@Vort317545Ай бұрын
It's so sad that Lance Kerwin is no longer with us. As a 70s kid. I loved every role he did in film and television. He brought class and intellectualism to every role. Really looked up to the dude! Especially as Mark Petrie. I wanted to be Mark when I grew up! The Classic Film Monster nerd turned heroic Vampire Hunter. Salem's Lot the miniseries is a Masterpiece! Very interesting to see that his voice didn't change in old age. That's very rare!
@jondishmonmusicandstuff2753Ай бұрын
Well, I know you guys are biased to this movie. I was like young teenager at the time and it was unnerving, but there's no movie that touches the exorcist. But you have a right to your opinion. There's no way in the world that they dude. How did the exorcist stunts and the things that Linda Blair had to do? And it was a little hokey that movie, because the second brother, the oldest brother, you could see him on a Dolly. You can plainly see the Dolly, you know? So yeah, it's a good movie, but I put it number five, and I put the exorcist is number one in my opinion
@johnbleakley4125Ай бұрын
Saw it recently on the big screen as im in the UK. Loved the movie, but large chunk of it has obviously been cut. Gone is the whole backstory of Ben's traumatic experience inside the Marsten House itself. Parts of Ben and Susan's romance have also been cut, including scenes of the Matthew Burke character searching the woods for the little Glick boy, along with police and local folk. Im also told part of the scene was cut from the kitchen scene onside the Petrie's household, where Barlow suddenly appears, and Callahan tells Mark to run, while he tries to frnd off Barlow with his glowing cross. Ive seen a picture of father Callahan(jojn Benjamin Hickey) woth Barlow's hand on his face. I dont recall seeing this in the cinema, so, obviously yet another edited scene from Dauberman's three hour cut. But i did really enjoy the movie as a whole. Loved all the performances to be honest. And whatever became of the ' Pirate Hat ' character who was supposed to be in the movie? And the young Ben Mears, who was cast, with a kid called Gavin Maddox Bergman playing him? And a youngster called Andy Anderson was to have played the ' Pirate Hat ' character, one of young Ben's friends. Another person i did not see in the movie was Avery Beaderman, who was originally cast as Ruthie, Larry Crocketts highschool daughter, who is lusted after by the Dud Rogers character in the source material and 2OO4 Mikael Solomon version? So much missing from this movie, i think. But still a highly recommend, enjoyable watch. Id definitely give it 8 out of 1O stars. 🙂✌️

👍👍👍This interview is absolute Gold dust and I'm only a quarter way in! Thank you so much for finding Lance and giving him a platform to share his experiences on the Salem's Lot set. The never to be topped, scary as Hell 1979 original was twice as long and TEN TIMES more engaging than this newest, thoroughly unnecessary 2024 remake. The young kid playing Mark Petrie is cute but couldn't hold a candle to Lance Kerwin in the role and seemed way too young. He also failed in conveying the real adolescent fear for the horrors awaiting Salem's Lot. Further his camaraderie with Ben Mears was non existent and his puffed up 'Super Hero' shtick felt about as authentic as a Rock'Em Sock'Em Robot. Further I was appalled how this remake shamelessly ripped off the now historic 'window' visitations not to mention the hospital 'awakening' and without nearly the skill or spine chilling cinematic nuance. Give me taped together tongue depressors as a cross ANY DAY over some ridiculous, glowing CGI garbage... but WOW Alfre Woodard's hair sure looked great! LOL, Judas Priest...🙄

@@DannyEverything101 you may notice that there are multiple incidences in the film during which people are bitten, off screen, and they are then seen walking around (somewhat dazed but otherwise ok). The 2004 version, while not better than the original, is far better than the new movie. The 2004 version incorporated many good scenes from the novel that were missing in Hooper's version and it was nice to see the more human type Barlow, played perfectly by Rutger Hauer. But sure, Nalder's Barlow was terrific and Alexander Ward's Barlow, being similar in appearance, was also terrific. I do understand most of the reasons you guys were not happy about the 2004 version, and while there were changes and moments, and especially the cell phones and Internet references, that didn't really work, it's still pretty solid and has some genuine scary scenes. To call it lame is not fair. I liked it more than the new movie which was entertaining but a bit of a let down and not that scary,...except for the Barlow scenes. The 2004 version dared to be darker and more provoking, and also more gory than the other two versions, so...I rest my case
