@@DannyEverything101 I've recently tried to alert Ben Otaviano to this - there are actually 3 past adaptations of Salem's Lot. The 1979 and 2004 TV miniseries - and the 1995 BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) Radio Dramatization. Made-up of 7, 30-minute episodes, it stars Stuart Milligan as Ben Mears. Stuart is another US actor based in the UK, and has done a lot of TV work, perhaps most recognisably as Adam Klaus, the sleazy, celebrity stage magician in the classic dark comedy series "Jonathan Creek." He is very good as Mears, as is John Moffatt as Straker, and the actors who play Mark Petrie, Matthew Burke, Susan Norton, Bill Norton, Parkins Gillespie, among others. In this version, Barlow does speak, and he comes across as a very creepy, manipulative, almost otherworldly gentleman. Ralphie Glick sadly does not appear as a vampire, but his brother's visit to Mark Petrie's window is included, as, for the first time ever in a Salem's Lot adaptation, is Susan Norton's vampire visit to Mark after she is fed to Barlow by Straker after the 2 of them break into the Marston House. Marjorie Glick's vampiric transformation is featured as well, along with Mike Ryerson's visit to Matt Burke.... I would like to know what you guys think of this radio series of Salem's Lot, as it is probably not as well-known over there? It can be found here on KZbin, such as here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWHRmIZ9gMZ8brM

Sadler " definitely " ain't Kurt Barlow. An actor in the movie, who plays deputy Nolly Gardner, has " confirmed " to me that Bill Sadler is constable Parkins Gillespie. Cassidy Neal , who plays Nolly, told me he shot scenes with him as deputy Nolly Gardner and Sadler as Parkins Gillespie. But, having said that, he said some reshoots were done, so he's not too sure if Parkins or Nolly are still in the finished movie. There also appears to be another character in the new movie, an officer Taylor, who is played by Mike Bash. No such character is in the source material or previous two screen adaptations. Officer Taylor is a totally new character. I would hope they would include Parkins and Nolly in the new movie, as they are characters directly from the source material and previous two screen adaptations. And it seems Alexander Ward is the new Barlow.

I watched the tv series as a kid back in the 70s, and I don't think I slept with the curtains open ever again after that. However, now that I have also read the book, I hope they stick closer to the book in this re-make. Barlow needs to be what he is in the book - a very ancient and very evil being who apparently made some kind of pact with the devil in order to become what he's become - the master vampire who infects this community with a fate worse than death. The Nosferatu version from the 70s turned him into just another mindless comic book monster. (I must say a mindless unspeaking Barlow was better than the goofy Rutger Hauer version whose dialogue in the kitchen scene at the Petrie's house was laughable). Also, the way in which Ralphie Glick was killed needs to be what it was in the book. Straker's preparations for Barlow's arrival are as disturbing as anything else in the book. If you're gonna make a film version of Salem's Lot, make Salem's Lot. Not some fan fiction version.

The reason why the 79' movie series was so creepy was because of the vampires look. They just looked dead. These days directors try way too hard with all the new technology. Why can't they duplicate it. Even in the same town. Same scenes but newer. The eyes and movements are the key to all of this in my opinion. The dead white face with those glowing yellow eyes. Plus, the smiling grins on them with the slurring tongue movements. The cat-like movements. The little room where the vampires are all around Barlows coffin. Why can't they make a side room like that crawl space room in the cellar. That's real. They talk about or imply the smell or the coldness of the door to the room or the crate. Or what about the graveyard scene? What made that really creepy was that Danny was staring at Mike through the coffin while calling him. Then when he opened the coffin his eyes were wide open. I said to myself why was he awake in the day but I figured because it was dark in that ditch. That works! C'mon that's scary. They will probably try to change it to night time if they even use that scene. It's NOT hard to figure out what creeped us out about that film. Why the heck would they use a young Ben Mears in this new movie when he's supposed to come back to his childhood town? Around 40ish is perfect. Straker needs to be older also just like the original but you can't duplicate a legend. Talk about creepy. lol

Well, once heavily rumoured to be William Sadler in the new movie, Barlow is now to be played by Alexander Ward in the new movie. Apparently!! I say ' apparently ' this movie and the hype surrounding it has basically been all over the place (and thats putting it mildly!!!!). I did suspect William Sadler was the original kurt Barlow, then someone took his place. But ive had it '' confirmed " by a " supporting " cast member (who wishes to remain anonymous!) That Bill Sadler is Parkins Gillespie in the new movie and a certain Cassidy Neal is Officer Nolly Gardner, Gillespie's trusted deputy. Ive also had it " confirmed " everyone involved with making this highly anticipated movie had to sign NDA's, so that's why no one has really spoken out about it, including Dauberman and Wan.

I have the Mikael Solomon version of Salem's Lot on dvd and am happy with that. I quite like Rutger Hauer as Barlow in Mikael Solomon's Salem's Lot but for me James Cromwell steals the show as Kurt Barlow. Fabulous actor! Fabulous performance!!!! I have always thought Gabriel Byrne would have made a great father Callahan and James Marsden as Ben Mears. What do you and others think?? 🤔

Well, I can tell you the " very important " plotline they changed : They killed off the Ben Mears character, played by Lewis Pullman. I have this on very good authority from a friend who knows something who worked on the movie. But they completely changed this ending. Apparently. Some pretty extensive reshoots were done. Certain things were changed(including the original downbeat ending of Mears dying). William Sadler is Parkins Gillespie and a certain Cassidy Neal is his deputy, Nolly Gardner.

Reboots and remakes are 99% of the times way worst than the originals. We can count with the fingers of 1 hand the remakes that are better or even match the quality of the originals. So, I'm sure all the delays have to do with how WB knows how badly the fans are going to react to a bad reboot from such a beloved King classic. So, I'm not interested at all in this remake since whatever happens its mostly gonna suck, and not exactly blood. Having the 1979 Hooper classic is more than enough for me. So have Warners and James Wan by the looks of it. No marketing for SL this year someone got that right and not a peep out of Dauberman who is a complete idiot the way he's handled the production. I have heard that it's highly likely that it won't be released in theatres because of the terrible test screenings (despite the re shoots they did not go down well at all). Reddit seem to be removing comments regarding the production from people who worked on the movie. I wonder if Dauberman has ordered all leaks to be removed? Wouldn't be at all surprised.

I'm not counting on it either, just hoping I'll see it, more out of curiosity at this point.

@@lucernekelly At this point I just don’t care anymore about this movie. They’ve kept it secret for so long that I’ve just given up on it. Can WB just admit Dauberman screwed up and move on

Who cares which actor gets the role of Kurt Barlow? Considering the fact that this film has been delayed twice by Warner Studios, I no longer have interest in sèeing it at all!

I know the feeling. Starting to not care anymore.

Anyone notice how Sam looks like a young Stephen king ?
