Pretty good video, in a general sense. I tried this job, following the directions. DID have difficulties I didn't anticipate though. Stubborn clips, hard to get at the screws and bolts. Fat fingers, arthritic hands to start with. I also forgot, my other health issues ! Cervical spine work done 2015 - ouch, my NECK !!! Blood thinners - I got a few medium sized bruises on my hands, forearms, ribs and even my chest. From lying down, contorting under the dash. Dizziness too. And the eyesight. Hey, I'm not 71 anymore ( as of 6 days ago !! ) Good news - I WAS able to unplug the motor while still mounted. Plugged in a new motor. The new one blew like a cyclone. SO at LEAST, I knew it was the blower motor, not a relay or fuse. So .... I called a local mobile mechanic who finished the remove & replace for me, using my new blower motor. $80, worth every penny. Plus, now I have a local MOBILE mechanic should the need arise.

It seems everywhere you look for torque specs you never get the same answer. I went with the first answer I found and definitely always use lock tight. I thought the mod, was to move the leaf spring hanger in the front, up by two holes, so you gain about 2” and can use 52’s with a new shackle. I didn’t realize you could move the core support part of it and almost do a reverse shackle flip 🤔 I’m about to do this on my 75 k10 I think I’ll try the way I mentioned. That nut stresses me out, all of your weight from the vehicle would be on that during a stop when inertia shifts.
@Farm10customs
@Farm10customs Ай бұрын
Hi there. There are many different ways of doing this. I understand what you’re saying and I definitely considered doing this differently myself. Actually if that front bolt was tightened first it might actually pull up tight. However the reality of all this is, none of these brackets should be moving under any circumstances. @Farm10customs
@Farm10customs Ай бұрын
Hey there, don’t be silly, of course I will answer your question. Yes the ball joints can cause this problem but steering box could cause it too. The best way to figure out which is the problem, is to disconnect the drag link and tie rods from each side and hand steer at each position one at a time. The culprit will be obvious. Everything should move easily side to side. I hope this helps, good luck my friend

Pardon my ignorance but is just a cross over conversion vs high steer is one favorable over the other. Pretty much I have 78 k10 and looking into just restoring it but also learning things too like the need to upgrade convert steering ect. My plan would be never go over 4” lift and just a clean nice driving rig so would the cross over be just fine or would high steer still be the way even though I’d never plan on off-roading might go off road camping ect but not wheeling if you will. Thank you. Also looking at off-road design for suspension and conversion kits or Davis off-road.
@Farm10customs
@Farm10customs Ай бұрын
@@DdDten Hi there, those are great questions about steering upgrades. The cross over and high steer are mainly designed for off road steering performance and to gain tie rod ground clearance. I feel that what you’re planning to do with your k10, a good 4” lift kit would be just fine for you, unless you want the upgrade just for looks. I would definitely recommend that you not cheap out on the lifted springs, the better quality springs the better the ride. I hope this helps and answer your questions.
