I needed a rack to cove my gas tank in the bed of my square body "DECAY" and also needed a place to mount my spare tire. So, I figured out a way to incorporate both that actually worked out well, it left me a place to strap down gear or cooler. I also had picked up a Y-strap to anchor down my spare tire. it was tough to figure out how to set this up due to the gas tank location and the size of the bed, that spare is pretty big too. I was trying to set this up in a way that I could actually see out the back when backing up. I did finally mount my gas filler neck, I had to extend the tube, so I ran into town to Toms auto and exhaust where they gave me what I needed for that. Thank you Tom. #chevy #offroad #squarebody #sparetire #tirerack

You should start them out young working with you on projects. I was about 7 or so going to work with my dad . Some day, and time flys by you will be helping them on their projects.

@@danielcrawford587 I fell in love with them. The notches were good enough. After doing that, I finally did get myself a tubing notcher. I’ve been notching stuff long enough without one. Hahaha. Thank you for watching my videos

You could use an eye bolt for the lower and upper part of the Y strap

My old broke down carcass suggests some channel iron and skateboard wheels so you can make smakk minecart track to come-a-long the spare tire up from the ground.

@@victorriceroni8455 Hahaha. You’re right. It’s a heavy sucker. But you should always have a buddy with you who’s younger and stronger to help with stuff like this. A ramp would definitely help. With any luck I’ll never need it. Thank you for your wisdom

@@Farm10customs ive gone back and watched the build on the truck its really made me want to get back into the off road world.. i was always a jeep guy for that but there was something about watching you do it in an old square body that made it look fun again.. also this may be a silly question but are the hubs different from a truck to a k5? they dont list that wheel for a jimmy anywhere only the truck
@Farm10customs
@Farm10customs 8 күн бұрын
@mattrage1673 I’m glad these videos have rekindled your love for the off-road experience, You don’t have to throw big money into your rig to get out and have fun. just use what you have and enjoy it. The hubs are on my K20 pickup and K30 bolt pattern are 8-6.5 (8-165.1) and the K10pickup and K5 blazer share the same bolt pattern 6-5.5 (6-139.7) check out this link racelinewheels.com/products/887-rockcrusher Of course there’s going to be a search difference and maybe availability problems depending upon whether you want 15, 16, 17” diameter wheels and bolt pattern needs.

I would angle the fuel inlet towards the tool box- bedside corner. From what you said about the body i would cut a hole and run it flush with the body. The angle going forward would open up a little better storage on that side and less chance to damage the fill pipe. You can never have to many tie down spots on the deck. I would have tried to leave the strap long. Run the tail past the back mount then through. Run the ratchet part through the center hole of the rim then tighten, watching to make sure it won't get cut on the center hole. I'm going to have to go through your videos for your pipe bending hack. How do you like it, anything you would do differently? Thanks
@Farm10customs
@Farm10customs 28 күн бұрын
Thanks for your insight. I went back and forth on what I did and settled for where it is, just because it was easier. You’re right, There’s not a whole ton of storage in there. The bender works way better than it did before and the bends actually look like they came from a high end bender. Thank you for watching

@offroad6309 Thanks for looking at my videos, keep it up. Haha. The bender upgrade was on a short a few months back. I was just trying out an idea that worked but the material I used was definitely too light. So this time I got some heavier stuff and that made a big difference. I hope this helps. Thanks again

Could you run the fuel filler to the center of the wheel?

@Farm10customs 26 күн бұрын
Hi there. I like what you’re saying. That would have been a cool place for it, but after giving it some thought, i think it would be possible but, difficult with a lot of bends. Thanks for the suggestion and thank for for watching

Just curious are you still running a carburetor? I have a k10 and run an off-road avenger Holley. Been good to me so far. Not sure if I wanna step up to an EFI setup.
@Farm10customs
@Farm10customs 28 күн бұрын
Yes. Still running a carb, Q-jet. I’m not totally happy with it, it works fine most of the time but, I’ve came down hard on stuff and instantly stalled out (flooded) I’ve considered that the floats may be too high and also going to EFI. but for now $$ I’m still using what I’ve got. But for the cost of EFI I could almost drop in an LS. But you like the avenger?
@d40701
@d40701 28 күн бұрын
@ yea I like the avenger. But like you if I come down hard sometimes it’s stalls. I’m fighting an off idle stumble (dead spot) which isn’t helping when I’m climbing obstacles. But I believe it’s a squirter issue after I get past the initial tip in she is good to go. But as far as off camber and hill climbs it’s acts really good. Most can’t believe I’m still running a carb.
@Farm10customs
@Farm10customs 28 күн бұрын
@d40701 If EFI wasn’t so expensive, we could all enjoy that kinda thing. It’s hard to decide where to spend the money, carb, suspension, tires….etc. there’s never enough money and too many wants 😆.
