Hey Larry, wes here on your hydro?Assist what tap and fittings did you use on the steering box ?
@Farm10customs2 ай бұрын
Hey there. I’ve been racking my brain about what I used for the tap, I dug through my taps and I’m not really sure but I think it was a 1/2” NPT tap, the fittings are #6 JIC. I did some research on doing this steering box work and I watched a video that “bleepin Jeep” put together and it really explained everything very nicely. One thing I want to tell you about, don’t run the tap all the way through. It’s tapered for a tighter fit and if you run it in too deep you will over size the hole. We learned the hard way the first time we did this. Are you using a complete steering kit?

@Farm10customs Hey, Larry, I was thinking about building my own steering system after pricing One out by the time it gets to my place, it would be over $700. I looked up the one you got from Jags it was $ 395. I'm currently doing the crossover steering, bracing the frame. while the steering box is out might as well tap it for future steering assist. I've been on the lookout for a arm That's it 8"stroke 1.5 bor.I like to fabricate my own parts just like you. That's why I like watching your videos. Looking forward to the spartan locker install on decay . i'm going to order one I have a 28 spline axe. Have a good day Wes

@wesleyfarina Wes, that sounds like you’re doing good research and great planning. The Jegs kit it a good value. I suggest measuring twice on the ram. I screwed up somewhere along the way and came with about 8”. I was wrong it was closer to 6”. It’s fine though, haha. Thank you for watching and the support my friend

@@Farm10customs Hey, Larry.I have a ?i have 81 k 5 jimmy question on the ram or hydro assistit i have corporate 10 bolt in it , basically dana 44 On the Ram, are you recommending a 6" stroke not the 8" ? Thanks
@Farm10customs2 ай бұрын
@wesleyfarina I would get as close to the right measurement as possible without being too short. I got the 8” and then changed up how I set my steering up but it seems like I probably could have went with a 6”. I’m just saying double check before you pull the trigger.

Hey Larry a ? On your hydro assist the ram when installed 4"3/8 out of cylinder it's a 8" ram ?
@Farm10customsАй бұрын
Hi Wes. Sorry about the delay, I had to run out and get some measurements off my ram. I’m not sure about your measurements, I’m pretty sure if you have an 8” ram it should stick out about 8”. Here’s what I could get for you from my setup, the body is 12 1/2” long, the collapsed ram sticks out 1/2”, and fully extended ram sticks out about 8” not counting the threads, and full extended length of it is about 20 1/2”. My ram is all hooked up and mounted, so my measurements are close approximations. I hope this is helpful and answers your questions.

@Farm10customs Hey thanks for getting back to me. Yes, that helps me out a lot. Thank you very much. I'm looking to buy a 1.5 bore x8x1 ram with welded swivel heads Just trying to keep the cost as cheap as possible Thanks again
