I’ve heard the actual audio of the cop interviewing Brandon after he was raped. It moved me to tears. What we see in the film isn’t the half of it. He asks some pretty disgusting shit that makes him look just as sick as the other 2.

I see so many people cut out the Gettysburg speech from their reactions, and I'm glad you kept it. It's such a profound moment that resonates with the team and audience.

It's a common misconception that the Nazis coming to power coincided with inflation. In 1931 the great social problem leading to social unrest was the great depression, unemployment, falling prices - the very opposite of inflation.

I think Abra and Danny are about the same in potential, but Abra is a child, so it’s stronger, as well as practicing her abilities while Dan suppressed his for years with Alcohol

This film set, and still holds to this day, the Academy Awards record for most Oscars won, without also winning Best Picture. Given the way the Academy tends to either divvy up Oscars among a lot of films, or have a consensus Best Picture that wins another seven or more, it's a record that may be unbreakable.

Fun Fact, spray paint or acrylic paint is actually used by morticians because it dryes well on cold surfaces, normal make up is drying and working well only on warm/alive skin.

Ezekiel 13:20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the SOULS THAT YE HUNT to make them fly. Movies like Doctor Sleep mock you. For you don't understand that you are being hunted.

It's fascinating that you find it surprising that people acted like that in the 1960s, when there are plenty of people who clearly still act like that in 2024.

@@jeffpope3221 it’s not necessarily surprising that people are acting like that, it was more just disgust that I think came off as “surprise” 😩

Clarification: NORMAL (new release) movies weren't $1. We did have $1 cinemas, though, that would play movies that were winding down their run.

You want someone that represents as much of the people on the planet as possible. It would a lot of people believe in a higher form of power you need someone to represent that. First impressions are important that's why it's very important for her to believe in God

Briony is irredeemable. She had a crush on Robbie and wanted to hurt him. Excusing her behavior as being a normal child thing.... not sure what children you know or childhood you had, but thats a psychopath. Also, there was no atonement. Atonement is an apology with reparations given in to right the wrongs of the injured part. The injured parties are dead. They never got an apology or a happy ending. Once again, Briony showed she never changed. She lies, changes facts, and makes up stories to make herself feel morally superior. She never learned. F her.

Briony's action were done out of jealousy & spitefulness. She is old enough to know right from wrong. She knows that it's wrong to lie & she knows that it's right to tell the truth. I think she convinced herself that her actions were in the service of protecting Cecilia. True, Briony had no understanding of the "intimate encounters" she observed between Robbie & Cecilia, but they were still encounters that she envied, considering her crush on Robbie. If Briony truly believed that Robbie was Lola's attacker why would she feel the need to pressure Lola into saying Robbie's name? Briony's character didn't strike me as the "nosey sibling" type, so why did she feel the need to read the note Robbie typed for Cecilia? Yes, she was disgusted at first, but she seem intrigued by it too. I think the reason Briony felt immediate guilt after the incident was because she knew what her real intentions were & she didn't realize the consequences of her lies would be so catastrophic.

Please react to Bicentennial Man (1999). It's probably Robin William's best movie ever. Watch with a friend with a similar attitude. You'll probably use up a box of tissues.

Because of the Jews in the Nazi era... There were about 500,000 Jews living in Germany when the Nazis came to power. Before the Nazis began to persecute the Jews aggressively at the end of 1938 (they had also oppressed the Jews heavily in the first five years, but were still very busy preparing for their war and securing their power at home), many had already fled. If you were wealthy, it was generally not a problem for Jews to leave the country. The problem was more finding acceptance abroad. The western democracies did not particularly excel in this regard. The Americans in particular did not cover themselves in glory in this regard! But it must be said that of the 500,000 German Jews, 360,000 managed to get to safety. It was only when the war started that the Nazis began to deliberately murder Jews and other so-called "enemies of the Reich". And on a mass scale! The Jews in Eastern Europe were even worse off than German Jews. They had hardly any opportunities to escape the Nazi terror. In Germany itself, thousands of Jews survived, not least thanks to the support of Germans who had not lost their minds in the underground, until the Nazi nightmare was over...

11:34 I get what you're saying about M'Lynn being so difficult, but you have you look at it from her perspective. Shelby is her daughter. Her first born. Just because you're child grows up doesn't mean you stop worrying and caring about them. M'Lynn's problem is that she's scared for Shelby because she feels Shelby isn't thinking about the long-term consequences of her decision. 16:35 The irony here is that Shelby is literally in a hospital and could get help right then and there, but her pride and her determination to not be a bother for everyone else keeps her from speaking up. 18:30 It is amazing to me how every time I've seen this, whether with friends or alone, no one in the room speaks in the time between M'Lynn leaving Shelby's hospital room and picking up Jack Jr.

OGB: Right off the bat you ask, "Why are people leaving?" You could have concluded it was because they didn't think Merill Streep's character's theatrical performance was as great as Bruce Willis' character thought, and thus, it was because he had the hots for her.
