Hi. My husband and I really enjoy watching your journey. Thank you for sharing. We also think you very much look like friends we grew up with. I can't help but wonder whether you are related. I wish I could reach out to you privately. Whatever the case, best of luck to you as you continue growing your garden and sharing your experience with the world. You're doing a beautiful job.

The size of white onions that's amazing. I never seen garlic that big😊 where do I get a seed or how do I grow my garlic like that
@thegrownpath6 ай бұрын
@lyndysimpson1272 Thank you. We just grow garlic that we get from our local farmer's market or organic grocery store and try to plant the big/ medium sized cloves. We don't do anything special- I like to keep it really simple and easy. There's a video of me planting this exact garlic last Fall that details how I do it linked in the description of this video. You got this!

What a bounty - I bet the smell from the peaches was amazing! The garlic haul is wild. I'm gonna try growing them this year. Ive been hesitant bc of the curing process to grow sweet potatoes/garlic/onions. Its just so hot here and my garage is well over 100 degrees..not sure where to store/cure them. As for the baking - have you tried Smitten Kitchen's hand pie recipe? I love her pie crust. She has a Bourbon peach hand pie recipe that is delicious ( I sub in Dark Rum bc I'm Jamaican and thats a prerequisite 🤣)
@thegrownpath6 ай бұрын
@crasht1224 Yeah we have the same problem with heat in our garage. Setting them up on a ladder in the shade worked really well. And no, I haven't tried that hand pie recipe, but everything you just said has me drooling😂. I'll have to give it a shot. My go-to is Claire Saffitz of Dessert Person. She has a flaky crust that we love.

@@thegrownpath I just finished watching her carrot muffin w/cream cheese video. Its next on my bake list once it is cool enough to use the oven.

Great video! We are starting our peach tree over because the bunnies killed our peach tree two winters ago, record snowfall here in South Dakota. I've heard with the tree spray schedule that the last spray before spring is the one you have to catch while the others just help, seems that worked for you guys. Might have to do the peach lemonade once we get peaches (Flat Wonderful) again. Garlic here still needs another week or two.
@thegrownpath6 ай бұрын
@8thcelisabeth Oh no! That's so sad to hear about your peach trees! I'm glad you're giving it another go. I think you're right about the spray schedule- it definitely worked out for us. And yes, the peach lemonade is amazing! We add a sage-infused simple syrup too just to make it a little more interesting, but it's delicious without that step too. Let me know if you give it a try!

Strawberries grow like mint. They need a bed or a patch to expand. I harvest Strawberries everyday from my beds. In containers only a few a season
@crasht12248 ай бұрын
I don't think you need to worry too much about the raspberry establishing itself. Eat the few berries you'll get! I'm pretty sure they grow like weeds and are semi-invasive. I planted 2 last April, got small handful last year. My kids and I have had a few handfuls so far this year. They've sent up at least 20 additional plants. I got a variety that fruits twice each season so will get more in the fall and loads next year. As for the Okra - try boiling a bit of water, let it cool a tiny bit in a mug then add the okra seeds for about an hour before planting the seeds. It accelerates germination. Calendula is also perenial in our zone so you could totally leave them in and they'll be fine (though not as pretty int he intense heat)
@thegrownpath8 ай бұрын
@crasht1224 Thanks for the reassurance to enjoy the raspberries. Twist my arm!😂 20 new plants sounds amazing- I'm so excited for you! And thanks for the tip on okra seeds. I've never had trouble with them before, so I'll have to try that. I'm suspecting that rollie pollies are eating a lot of seedlings as they're coming up.
@crasht12248 ай бұрын
@@thegrownpath the rollie pollies decimated most of my pumpkins and melons. I just learned the okra tip this season and planted a ton. They've made it through the tiny seedling phase. Now just praying the deer stay away bc they're in my front yard garden and the deer got them last year. I watched your video and got motivated to go out and reseed them. I keep forgetting how long we have in the season! I literally just came back in from seeding a bunch of melons and zinnia again. Crossing my fingers this time.

Quick question, the spacing that you used for the apricot, Is that just for stone fruit or can it be applied to other?
@thegrownpath8 ай бұрын
@margiecueva7517 that's a really great question that I didn't know the answer to, so I looked it up. According to a quick Google search, most fruit trees benefit from thinning, with the exception of cherries and nut trees. Thanks for asking, so I could learn something new!

I posted this about a month ago but included a link and I think youtube automatically deleted it. Since your seedlings did poorly this year - Here is some info for a plant sale this weekend. If you're anywhere near Fair Oaks its worth checking out (and getting there early when there when they first open). I've supported their sale the last 2 years but this year most of my seedlings made it so I'm all set! Here is the info, sans link: " Last day! We still have hundreds of plant. PepperBelly Farm will be having our 8th annual fundraising plant sale, April 20. Vegetables are just $1 each!!! Tomatoes - dozens of varieties, mostly heirlooms, peppers, eggplants, tomatillos and cucumbers. We also have thornless blackberries ($2 stem). Ask about loquat, bay and cherimoyas! All proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen in their mission to end breast cancer. Tell your friends! Please bring a box or tote to carry your plants home. Cash only. Saturdays in April (April 6,13, 20) 8 AM until 11 AM (or until we are sold out) 4536 Martsmith Way, Fair Oaks. "
