Would be nice if audio was louder. For a year in the making you dropped the ball on the audio so it was a big waste.

Great video Eric. I really enjoyed the content. I recently moved to NINA, using the PLL Eagle, I have an EdgeHD 8 and I am curious about the ESATTO 2" LP. I see you are using a reducer, then the ESATTO 2 LP, the Celestron Large OAG, followed by the EFW. How did you achieve 105mm of back focus? Did you use spacers? Do you mind sharing your imaging train back-focus's detailed/diagrammed layout? I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks Eric
@AstrowithEric2 ай бұрын
Hi Miguel, Appreciate the feedback. I’m slightly over the 105mm backfocus w the reducer. Here is my layout: 1. Celestron 0.7x Reducer/Essato LP/SC adapter (0mm)/PLL Essato 2 LP Focuser (32mm)/M60 to M48 Adapter (2.5 mm)/M48 Spacer (5mm)/Celestron M48 Female Adapter (4.5mm)/Celestron OAG body (29mm)/Celestron M42 Female Adapter (4.5mm)/ZWO T2-T2 Male Adapter (2mm)/ZWO EFW (20mm)/Camera (6.5mm) 32+2.5+5.0+4.5+29+4.5+2.0+20+6.5= 106mm

@@AstrowithEric I appreciate you getting back to me. This Back-Focus detail is helpful. In your video you mentioned switching to the ASI2600MM which has 17.5mm, have you figured that out yet? I would be curious to hear about your experience with the BackFocus.

Thanks for the video, Eric, this is exactly what I was looking for. Do you know why or how having this focuser beyond the reducer doesn’t harm backfocus distance when it focuses? Or is the idea that it only changes the backfocus an insignificant amount? Normally you would think that moving the sensor farther away from the reducer would impact the necessary backfocus.

How difficult is it to collimate optically using the tri-Batinov? By that, I mean using and eyepiece instead of doing it on a video screen? I've yet to get far enough into astrophotography to buy an astro camera or managing system, but will most definitely go with the ZWO products when I do. I have an Edge 8 and a shorty refractor (WO GT-81) and a couple of EQ mounts (AVX and EQ6R Pro).

Eric would you recommend a CELESTRON Edge or William Optics flt 132mm telescope for viewing and astrophotography?

Eric I’m new to Astronomy. I have a Televue NP 101 refractor on a Losmandy G11 mount. I’m looking to upgrade to a SCT. Would you recommend the HD edge 8 or 9.25 or bigger for the Losmandy G11 mount I have? I’m eventually going to do astrophotography.
@AstrowithEric4 ай бұрын
Hi Kevin, if I could go back in time, I would get the EdgeHD 9.25 hands down. If you are planning to do astrophotography down the road, you want an Edge for sure. The back focus is much more forgiving and the image circle is much better. It’s 42mm compared to 24mm on the 8”, so it can handle a full frame sensor. I’ve said it in the past, the 9.25 is the Goldilocks of the SCTs, not to big or small, it’s just right 😂

Thank you for explaining this. Is it possible to use this method to collimate the primary mirror? And how do you know which mirror needs collimating?
@AstrowithEric6 ай бұрын
With a Schmidt-Cassegrain, only the secondary mirror (small mirror at front) is collimated, it will then be aligned to the primary mirror at the back of the telescope. The primary mirror is not collimated as it doesn’t move other than in/out for focus.

Just subscribed and will be checking out your other channel too. Nice setup. I'm just getting back into astronomy after a long hiatus; so much has changed since I was last active. But your setup is very close to what I have been thinking would be my setup in the spring; cem70, edge 9.25 and if the wife is willing, a pier. Do you take in your mount head and scope when they aren't in use? Or maybe there's an adequate cover (besides a roll-off, etc.)? Nice photo at the end. I'll be poring through both channels. Best wishes.
