Cook a potato, then cool it overnight and you have some resistance starch built up in there. Less of it gets into you.

I’d love to know if you have any recommendations for skincare brands that avoid plastic. As someone who is super sensitive to fragrance and has to avoid them it’s difficult enough to find products that don’t have any fragrance or essential oils. Everything I have is in a plastic container. 🙃

Do you have access to any research on the topic of electrolytes? I keep seeing videos where various health experts advocate the use of electrolyte drinks as part of routine hydration. Is this good advice based on scientific evidence?

So if an adult needs about 2000 calories a day, what if I get approx 1000 or less and fast as well? Because the study you were talking about seems to me that they were all eating the same amount of food regardless of when they ate, so if that amount was decreased would it cause weight loss?

I’m 61 and have eaten copious amounts of fruit my entire life. I have hardly any body fat, hardly ever sick and run marathons! I do find my blood sugar spikes if I eat a lot at one time.

In Europe, it seems like you are given a cup of coffee after a meal to prevent an after meal crash. If it manages blood sugar during a meal, this might also keep from the post-meal crash.

No wonder salads would bloat me. I completely stopped bloating by not drinking water 30 min before and 1 hour after a meal. I also walk after B and L and don’t do anything stressful after a meal. I used to play videogames after and I noticed my stomach would get tight and bloated. Probiotics and lowering sugar substantially helped a lot. Also not too much wheat, dairy, and procesedfoods. Electrolytes seem to play a role as well. Now a question: What if you have both high fat and high fiber in one meal?

Happy to see a scientific approach to conclusions. But in the land of Big Food, and its associated scandals, particularly with respect for who's paying for the study, how do you go about filtering results to eliminate bias? I realise that's a big task. Thank you for your work.

Different type of of dances, like quickstep, Viennese waltz, foxtrot, tango, cha cha ,salsa bachata, swing hustle, Argentine tango etc. Hopefully to try to remember all the different steps, rhythms, timing , leg action will help stimulate the brain function. I chose this exercise because of the socializing aspects

I had forgotten I watched this video a long time ago, early in my transition to WFPB (been vegan for 6 years, though). It might have influenced me to try some more grains. I'm not a fan of the texture of quinoa (I've tried!) so amaranth is not something I'd try. But I am a big fan of farro. I've recently been trying to get into kamut, it's similar to farro and way chewier. What I've found works best is to cook it like beans -- 45 minutes on high in the instant pot. I've also made it in a simple rice cooker many times (most grains you can do that, but oats don't work so well in my experience...) As for how to use these alternative meals my favorite meal is a whole grain salad (?) I'm not sure what to call it. It involves mixing whatever kind of bean you like and kamut, my preferred is chickpeas -- and again it's similar cooking time. I like to add in lentils and tofu as well. Finally, bake everything at 400F for 30-45 min and toss with some kale. For dressing a tablespoon of tahini or peanut butter and hot sauce is good enough for me, but I'm not completely low fat or anything. Honestly I was surprised to learn most whole grains are actually comparable to beans in protein, btw.

Great!!! You actually confirmed a question that I had about it. I knew (without really being sure) that chewing more will make me feel more satiated. Fortunately I found your (you with a PHD) video that confirms what I knew all along. But, who would have thought that there are more people around the world that thought the same thing as me, when it comes to this situation. Some even made studies about it....This situation is the same as something similar that happened to me a while ago, when I discovered that C.G. Jung had discovered years ago something that I thought I created in my mind (Active Imagination). Its a nice feeling to have it validated at this level of perceiving the world around us😀 Anyway...Thank you for confirming it to me...🫡

First of all, I want to congratulate you on your channel. Science based facts is what i was craving on youtube. We eat alot of beans at home. I mostly cook them myself but sometimes i buy them in a jar when im running late. How bad are canned or jarred beans??? Are there any studies about that. I imagine they have more salt and conservatives than non cooked, but they are also really convenient sometimes. Is it better eating canned/jarred beans than not eating them at all, or the contrary? Thank you for all the work you put on this channel.

Looking at bodybuilders and the diets they use versus endurance athletes the way they look ( emaciated )and the diets they use I find it very hard to believe diet has nothing to do with physique. Obviously diet and exercise play a huge role huge role in developing the body. former endurance athlete Mark Sisson is more fit and muscular at 70 than he was at 30. Instead of numbers I would like to see some physical evidence of all this

I am not doubting this content but it has left me feeling confused. Body builders and athletes of all ages eat high protein diets to maximise muscle gains. Are they misguided also? What about the impact of a caloric deficit on muscle in the body. We hear that when we lose weight it is fat and also muscle that gets lost. Does the amount of protein we eat counteract the effects of muscle loss? What does the body do when it can’t get enough protein? After being morbidly obese for most of my life, now in my mid 60s, I have lost the weight, I run regularly and try to do resistance training. I try to eat a low fat, and moderate carb diet, high protein diet which seems to suit me because I find it satiating. I eat lots of vegetables, some low carb fruit. I eat 3 times a day with no snacks. All the food cravings have gone I never think about food until it is time to eat and my metabolism seems to be firing. I will stick with what I have been doing because it seems to suit me. I heard a dietician say on You Tube that if your body is searching for protein it cannot burn fat efficiently. That made sense to me and is another reason I want to make sure I eat plenty of protein.
