Has this paddle kept up its spin? My Forza has less, but still nice spin after 6 months. It went from crazy to good. How is Rhonbus doing? Also- does it have much more power than the 16 mm Forza M2 ? Last- if you’re testing it in the heat, the balls would play soft and slow

Tbh there are a lot of people out there that can't control a gen 2 paddle or just prefer short handles in general. For the value it definitely plays very well. I had this review edited and uploaded before I got my Jelly bean in.

Interesting take. I obviously have not gotten to play with this yet, but based on specs and old construction, this paddle seems like a miss. 11six24’s Monarch JellyBean and the Vatic Prism Flash would be better options for nearly the same price.

Another great, spot-on review. Loved the evolution format providing insight into the R2 differences. I'm in complete agreement with you on the R2FX, which I'm been maining for a few months now. The well-balanced R2FX is the best paddle for my game that I've ever used. It's a highly underappreciated, under-the-radar paddle.

Very informative review (well most of your videos are). I just felt a bit sad since I aiming for this paddle (the 12.7) to buy but I am not that aggressive player. My play style is more on leaning to control type and I also lacks power (if I exert more strength I easily get tired), so I am looking for power paddles to compensate my lack of strength... What can you recommend? (Aside from using lead tapes to the top of the paddles) Should I go for 14.3? but as mentioned in the video it is better to get other paddles if your aiming for 14.3?

Tbh. You'll probably end up loving the 14mm. I've been recommending it to people in my area and after they try it they're hooked. If you're leaning control I'd probably get the 14mm and skip the 12mm. Spartus also has a new paddle coming out called the Olympus. It doesn't feel as poppy but it's still a power paddle and it plays crazy good.

I was, I'm guessing, one of the first to get one of these as I bought the Control and received it about 3 weeks ago. Due to injury I've only been able to play with it a few sessions but love it so far. That said, based on the reviews so far it sounds like the Jelly Bean is the one. Mr. Lanky, can you clarify what you mean by the term "stiff"? I find it hard to believe that a kevlar blend like the Control would be stiffer than a RCF. The Ruby, which I came from, was more plush due to the kevlar than any RCF paddle I had before. I think I'm going to order a Jelly Bean just due to the even lower swing weight. That said - I like the Control a lot and am very happy that wide bodied paddles are making a comeback. Resets and drops are breeze with this paddle. And it has as much power, if not more, than the Ruby I had.
@FarmerLankyPickleball
@FarmerLankyPickleball 6 күн бұрын
I may have worded that really poorly. I was referring to the feel off of the face. I could feel my misfits more with the control than I did with the JB and the JB felt more plush to me but there's no drastic difference between these paddles in any category.. I believe the control "feeling" stiffer is due to it also being thermoformed and the JB not being thermoformed and a gen 1.5
@LearnAtMyExpense
@LearnAtMyExpense 6 күн бұрын
@@FarmerLankyPickleball ah I forgot about the JB being gen 1.5. Not sure about where you play but in my area, ever since the new Joola paddles got delisted, I am noticing a LOT of those players going back to their old perseus (or whatever that popular gen 1.5 paddle was named). And guess what? They're playing a lot better as a result... Thanks for the reply. I think I will get a JB at that price just as a backup.

Great review. Looking forward to your all court review for sure. A wide body paddle with a longer handle and a slight flared head look very very tempting. I think I’d gravitate to the Control option. I’m currently playing with the Fat Boy and love the pop. Carbon/Kevlar provides plenty of shape with power from the baseline for me. How would the control compare to the Fat Boy in your opinion?
@FarmerLankyPickleball
@FarmerLankyPickleball 6 күн бұрын
The control is more control oriented than the fat boy. The fat boy face is definitely stiffer than the control is. I'm taking the fat boy and all court out tonight and playing with them switching in and out so I can reference that in the all court video. I haven't gotten as much time with the all court compared to these 2. I just know the all court is poppier, has more power and allowed me to be more aggressive than the control and jelly bean.

Soemthing that I noticed coming from the prism flash and neonic flow is the pop and the launch angle. I feel like the jelly bean had a significantly higher launch angle and it was hard for me to dial in the roll volleys and flicks. I need to give the paddle more time though.

I recently hit with a flow and was expecting a super soft, controlled feel but was really surprised with how stiff the face felt to me. Maybe I played an outlier. I love my Monarch All Court, wonder if the jelly bean would be noticeably softer in feel for when I’m playing tougher banger types

@@jordanmartin324 it’s interesting how subjective the feel of paddles are. I haven’t played with the all court but the jellybean feels crisper than my flow and I’m not sure why.
@FarmerLankyPickleball
@FarmerLankyPickleball 5 күн бұрын
Yeah, that's the hardest part about describing paddles to people. Everything else is easy to notice but it takes a little longer recognizing the feel and how to explain it 😂 I can't remember what reviewer said it but they said, how a person interprets feel is based off their past paddles so everyone's interpretation of how they feel will be slightly different. I wish I remembered which video that was. Like me coming from a Paddletek TKO-C to a neonic flow will make the flow feel like a soft. But coming from a 16mm gen 1 or even a gen 1.5 will make the flow feel stiffer.

@@FarmerLankyPickleball I just played with my 16mm Jellybean this morning. It came in at 7.9 ounces and I love it. I'm a strong 3.5 and can generate my own power but I have some moderate tennis elbow issues so I like a soft feeling paddle. l was afraid, without being thermoformed, that the Jellybean would be a little too mushy but it does have very acceptable pop and power; more than I expected, yet still feels very plush and forgiving. Very quick in the hand and stable so I don't think at this point I'll need to add any weight. Thanks again for your review and keep up the good work.
