lol. I am actually IN SoCal going to Disneyland on Thursday/Friday. But spending $160 to duck in that show for a few hours before we head to LA/Hollywood is sadly not going to happen. These convention show prices are getting ridiculous. I was at Wondercon there back in the teens and it wasn’t anything like 80 bucks for opening day.

Have you guys ever thought about being guest commentors on the StarPodLog podcast? They go through each issue of Starlog magazine and also include commentary on comics, toys, etc. starpodlogpodcast.blogspot.com/

I bought the Reborn Fantastic Four..... Good art..hah. Really at that time I was buying a bunch of indie books, DC/vertigo books, and older books. I think Batman and Superman Adventures were going at the time, and were probably my favorite super-hero books. The post Heroes reborn Marvel stuff was my last great memory from Marvel comics besides Hickman's FF. Captain America by Waid/Garney, Avengers by Busiek/Perez, Avengers Forever by Busiek/Pacheco, and Thunderbolts by Busiek/Bagley was the last period of quality Editorial at Marvel IMO. Alan Davis was also hitting his artistic peak during that period and I didn't miss an issue of his work. Good times...

A used book store that I frequent has a comic book section. It was packed, and I mean packed with Sandman trade paperbacks. People are taking this Gaiman situation seriously

I'm with Richard, Gaiman hasn't been found guilty of anything. He deserves, as do we all, to be allowed to answer these charges in court. Belasco's early appearances in Ka-Zar are cleverly integrated by Bruce Jones and Brent Anderson into Dante's The Inferno, the first part of his epic poem The Divine Comedy, the greatest literary work in Italian. The Busiek/Perez Avengers title wasn't just "much better" than the Heroes Reborn Avengers, it remains one of the best incarnations of the team ever. After decades with nothing new on Miracleman we finally get the hope of new stories only to have that hope possibly ripped away from us. True, guys, it's monumentally unfair for us fans. People who have only been alive in the internet era just wouldn't understand how important Starlog and other SF magazines were, especially the episode guides, in providing information on series and movies that we had no other way of reading. By the way, it was Keir Dullea in "The Star Lost", who'd played David Bowman in "2001: A Space Odyssey". Damn that Harold Jones! We all have a Harold Jones in our past Richard, I feel your pain.

loved starlog. and it’s episode guide. it was carried even further with a magazine called Epi-log in the 90s. these were definitely what you needed to know that some of these shows even existed. thanks for the reminder. i just headed down to the vault to check out my old issues of all of the above.

Another good show guys. For those Marvel Handbooks imagine if they made them now. You can have the same line for every character "He/She died and came back."

I'm just getting caught up on the past few weeks, so belated congratulations on landing the Carly account, John. That's wicked cool! I just want to mention the Hoopla app. If you have a library card with a pin number, you can sign up and get free access to digital copies of tons of stuff, from single issues to graphic novels (there's also music, movies, and more - but I signed up to read Image and other indy titles - of note, Redcoat is available, as is Savage Dragon... so I'll be reading those later this week). There's my PSA for this year. Got that taken care of early! 😁 Have an awesome con this weekend!

Marvel Handbooks were better 30 years ago when there wasn't so much history to read... Right about taking books out of the bag but funny because of the tons of "filler" books I buy online where the only information I have is the raw grade... The historian in me wanted to go into detail about where Marvelman/Miracleman came from originally...

Tracing paper is made up of similar fibers as manufactured parchment paper. I use the tracing paper from the dollar story. This makes a good non stick layer between the press and the backer boards. It also works well on covers or between pages where you think there might be some sticking.

Love the show gentlemen! As for the introduction of Latino characters into the MCU, aren't you forgetting about Tenoch Huetra's Sub-mariner in Black Panther 2!? Also, issues of Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-man (we referred to the title as Peter Parker back in the day, not Spectacular Spider-man) through the early 1980's were some of the best Spider-man stories going! Loved those runs!

thanks for comments about the advantages of slabbing/grading a comic book. I am a total RAW collector however. Yes, there are advantages to getting one or two special comics slabbed, but slabbing most comics (to me) is like going to a movie theatre to see a popular movie and stopping at the door to admire the movie poster. You then never go inside to see the movie. You miss so much.

The whole Gaiman situation is so disheartening. My daughters grew up watching his movies: “Stardust” and “Coraline”. I have read a good bit of his stuff and I’m currently enjoying the comic book version of his novel “Anansi Boys” by Dark Horse Comics.

I'm also very upset about Giaman. I didn't pick up Sandman until the late #20's, but read all the earlier trades. It's one of the best comic book runs ever. "Good Omens" is one of my all-time favourite books. And I loved the Sandman and American Gods tv series. If he does get convicted of these heinous acts, will that all change. Not for me, why would it? The stories are still the same. Will it make Giaman a horrible human being, most definitely! Sill loving the show, guys! ❤ (trying to lighten it up a bit here... 😏)
