I just read that this film only brought in $384,000 at the box office. I don't remember what else came out in 92, but geez, how is that possible?

I almost always agreed with Siskel, rarely with Ebert. I also love this movie. Just revisited it again. I've seen "Black Widow" several times since 1987. Both actresses were beyond excellent in this film. Too bad Debra Winger slowed down her career. Also loved her in "Cannery Row,." another favorite film from the 80's.

I'm seeing all these negative comments about a movie with a strong all black cast through trials, tribulations and redemption. But most of these folks will sit and watch a movies with people dressed as singing cats for 2 hours and rave about it. 🙄 spare me😒

Siskel said it was a very mean film..lol

give this a thumbs up if you think he took a bribe. give it a thumbs down if you think he was doing coke. option ç: you may also reply to this if you think he was an alien who doesn't understand our culture.

I am no movie critic. But, I think "Clara's Heart" is a far better movie than these two give it credit to be. All the players give outstanding performances especially Whoopi Goldberg. It is one of my favorite movies.

What was most sickening to me in this film was the way adults who were supposed to be caretakers treated children

Roddy McDowall was proud of it ❤️ that’s what matters most to me. Sometimes I just couldn’t wrap my brain around S & E but we all have different opinions and that’s what makes critiquing fun. I personally love this movie.

This was my favorite movie as an American preteen. I thought the two boys were so hot! I was absolutely mesmerized by this film and became obsessed with France. Many years later and now I finally live here 🇫🇷!!!

I love John Cleese, I love Monty Python, and I love Siskel & Ebert (especially Ebert) and I agree with them, this film expends a lot of energy and just falls flat. Siskel hit the nail on the head with his "Didn't you know..." You can spot almost every punchline for every bit in this film a mile away. That's it's biggest problem. That being said, I enjoy the film for what it is because I will watch Cleese (and the rest of the Python gang) in just about anything.

2:00 Ebert's quote made me think of Chaplin's The Great Dictator. Not actually the film but Chaplin famously saying that had he known the the full extent of Hitler's horror, he could never had made the movie.

I very much disagree with these two. Splash was all about sex. Date With an Angel is a beautiful story about the importance of communication in relationships. Jim can speak the same language as Patty, but they cannot communicate, and she refuses to do so in a mature way. This dooms their relationship. Jim and the Angel do not speak the same language, but they find ways to communicate, and that makes a true relationship between them. And if you saw anything sexual in Emanuelle Beart's performance as the Angel (minus that one bathing scene) then YOU are a pervert, sir!

Still one of my favorite films. The quiet moments between the two friends, the silent shots of courtyards and woods, a lurking menace permeating everything; the authenticity of the relationships between the boys, compared to the mother's superficiality -- it was magnificent. I used to show it to my high school French classes. The students were riveted. It's a masterpiece of quiet suspense. Long after the seeing the film, I visited Provins, and was surprised to recognize the setting instantly. A beautiful place. A beautiful film.

I loved this movie so much at the time. I spent a lot of time at the theatre when I was young, and I saw this movie over thirty times in the theatre back then. It would be a terrible movie without the context of being nine years old when watching.. ..and like the power glove; it's so bad!
