Funny thing is yeah I found an alligator snapper hatchling well not quite a hatchling. up here in southwestern ontario when I was 12, I thought it was just a common until I saw this video. Still have no idea how they manage to survive up here but we do have stuff here that we shouldn't.

I’ve seen a few alligator snapping turtles along the banks of the Suwannee River when I was in my teens and 20s when I would go down to Florida to visit my grandparents but I never seen a hatchling or a gigantic one and I walked the banks a lot fishing and hiking since the river was near my grandpa’s house . The ones I seen were around 15 to 30 pounds . In Indiana I’ve seen many common snappers of various sizes and quite a few hatchlings a long with painters and soft shells .

I might just get one for myself sure it may not be as big as a African bullfrog but the Native American bullfrogs are just as or maybe even more gluttonous

I haven't seen enlures it s a pet store for many years. Used to have a bunch back when I was in high school to feed my bull frogs. I had plenty after the frogs passed. Some of the males developed these beautiful eye spots and long sword like tails. But after awhile inbreeding started to get bad. The males developed spine issues and the females started to be unable to to give birth and kept getting bigger until they literally popped. Wish I had turtles back then. Any ideas where I can get enlures now?

Hi I have a urgent question- There were snapper eggs in some dirt I had gotten and spread in my yard. I am unsure how to re orientate them - dark/heavy side up or down or on the side?

Lake talquin. Near Tallahassee fl. I am constantly catching baby alligator snappers while fishing. They are not endangered everywhere. Ive caught 3 adults in the past few years as well. One looked like it was over 50 pounds and i could not pull it out of the water it was so big. To put this in perspective, i have not caught a single adult common snapper there.

Does snails have to be there? I prefer plecostomus fish (sorry for spelling). And the orange and black worm. Can’t remember the name. Been too long.

Have you thought of using under gravel filter? I love it. More natural and not soo hands on as with a sponge.
