You both are very motivating! I lost my step dad and brother 7 weeks apart from each other so i completely understand. They were both hoarders and terrible housekeepers so i had my work cut out for me. The waves of grief can be so frustrating. I once lost it at the deli counter of my grocery store because the bologna reminded me so much of my brother. Those poor deli workers! ❤

Be mindful that those expiration dates are on the dry goods that you have in the freezer are meant to follow if you have them on the shelf. They are totally fine in the freezer just do a taste test and look for freezer burn. I can my boiled peanuts. Its really easy and they last a really long time.

We do our big shopping in the beginning of the month so I clean the freezer and reorganize (as needed) before we shop. It’s just me and my SO so we only have the freezer above our refrigerator (same one as yours). I also clean the refrigerator at the same time.

I use to go to one chinese takeout when i walked in they called me chicken wing. Guess what i always ordered. 😂🤣

I do cleaning and reorganize my side of the bed. One day I'll find those scissors that walked the last time.

The expiration dates on things like pecans are if you store them at room temp! You were right that they are still good as you froze them. The only thing you need to watch for is freezer burn 👍🏻

I never thought of wearing a glove when cutting up chicken. I HATE touching raw meat! (I know - weird!) I love that knife you used to slice that chicken! I’d love that recipe!

I feel like our Moms were same person. I lived with my Dad for a year after my Mom passed and going through the cabinets and pantries it was so much of same thing. First pass I got rid of expired things. Second pass later I just realized there were lots of things we just would not use. I found people who liked to bake and was able to rehome lots of baking goods, fancy pans. Now I only try to keep one extra of anything to avoid my kids having to deal with it later. Good work! 💐

Wow. That was a lot of work. The two of you work well together - you pull items out and your daughter assists so you don't have to keep stepping away from the area you're working on. She holds and bags up trash. And you two laugh together. And she did a great job on that wall vent. If that wall vent unscrews out of the wall, put in the dishwasher next time if it will fit.

I’d watch a much longer video and listen to the banter tho. Instead of tossing the food, post it as a curb alert on a buy nothing group and let people know it’s past dated. Time for a eat from your pantry challenge? ❤ It's looking great! Two tips for you going forward: I write the dates with sharpie on all my shelf stable foods when I bring them home and put them away. That way I can see at a glance which one is the oldest. And, I've heard that you should go through and organize a space as many times a year as you access that space in a day. So if you go into your pantry 4 times a day, go through it 4 times a year so it doesn't get out of hand.

I like the smart use of the Wall Mart bags. Jars and cans can be heavy and if you had thrown out all into a regular garbage bag, it would have been too heavy to lift.

Maybe you could donated some of the non expired stuff that you have so many multiple of before they expire?

Here’s my take away from your video. Don’t buy backups for your backups! 2-3 times a year do a freezer pantry challenge where you take 1 month to eat up all the things that are getting to the expiration date and don’t buy for that month. Put food in pantry where the items with the closest expiration date are at the front.
