Thanks for the detailed explanation. All good stuff to know BEFORE choosing and installing a system. You have already set yourself apart from your competition by addressing issues which seemed pushed under the rugs by some other manufacturers.IMHO

This is a question I've always wondered about because the standard answer didn't make sense. As long as you heavily pre filter for oil and biologic contamination, I was always confused by the claim you couldn't make water. Good info here Richard, thank you.

never see a system that complicated!!! this guy love make easy things very difficult to understand and will surely discourage a potential customer to even think to buy a water maker!!!!

Just to be clear here...IF the carbon filter is in place, you can use municipal water to flush the system? Because when I heard this, my first thought was "keep one tank municipal and the other tank RO and never let them mix..."

Thank You Rich. Very Informative. Is there any scenario where the water maker can be winterized? I live in Michigan. I plan on taking the boat to Florida and the Bahamas and back and forth. If I layup in Michigan it seems that the membranes would shot. Thanks again

What causes your PSI gauge to bounce? We are using a boost pump and a high pressure pump, pressuring up slowly and depressurizing slowly. It just started this???

Hi Rich… something that’s not clear to me, so I need to do a fresh water flush after each production run? If I do the fresh water flush after each one, then that’s basically a 10 gallon tax for me every time I make water, but if that’s what’s best for the longevity of the system, then I’ll do it.

Did you find an anwser to this Josh. We run our water maker continues and were wondering how often we need to flush with fresh water. Thanks in advance. Great Video

His arguments are not very clear. Why would there be risk of air bubbles if sharing an inlet with the head - where would they come from? And 'fighting' over the water? Pumping the head, you very occasionally suck in a couple of liters. I can't se how that would impair the function of the wm's 100+ watt pump. And a y-valve would be risky for the wm if left in the wrong position. And you would have to make sure the wm is turned off before taking a dump - easily forgotten by a guest.

You say you flush your filters every week in a busier anchorage. It would be helpful if you posted a video of how you do that, even just an explanation. Address questions like, which ones do you flush? Can you and how do you flush a carbon filter? And do you have to reverse the water through the filter, or would just a light rub get it all off? Excellent video. Dispels a number of myths about always having to leave an anchorage to make water. For us, that is every 3-4 days.

Hi, I have a pur 35 in my CT 41. I was in Brazil, for 5 years, now I'm here in Miami to sailing. When I went to Brazil I did the flushing exactly from the user manual, with biocid. Today I did a flushing with 1 gallon of fresh water with, acid membrane, and alkaline membrane cleaner. It's working, but no fresh water comes out. What I should do?

This is great stuff and confirms my suspicions on why we have had so many problems with the watermaker (bareboat charter company), especially considering we are just in our third year.

Nice video - thanks. I wish you could address issue where it seems some folks change the thruhull to one with a scoop so it minimizes air entry while sailing/motoring. I am not sure why air should be below waterline but I have read several folks finding this fixed their problem of air entry while underway. Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

Then how would you overcome the restriction from dirty filters even below water line in my 15+ years in the field of RO both land based and vessel design. You should always have at least 2psi positive pressure.
