Still waiting for how you like to sharpen a "wavy" mulch blade (Husqvarna). Please...Thanks!

While the video I've linked doesn't specifically refer to Husqvarna, the process for wavy mulching blades is the same. Using the "screwdriver-angle-finder" technique in the John Deere video, combined with the procedure in the linked video should give you all the information you need. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4LHaauYj8yep5Isi=8ssblZPCBMBRZPiM You can find additional helpful videos on our website's Resource page. www.allamericansharpener.com/resources

I had some Oregon blades that were most likely 35° but I changed them to 30°. Was this a mistake? Please chime in all y'all want!
@AllAmericanSharpener2 ай бұрын
It wasn't really a mistake. They will still give you a good cut. You just created more time grinding and removed more metal than needed to get your edge. In the future, we recommend trying to match the factory bevel. No harm done though.

All of the demostrations on KZbin show using a new blade with a good square outer corner. How about showing how to sharpen a good used blade with a worn rounded outer tip or is a person suppose to throw the blade away?
@AllAmericanSharpener3 ай бұрын
The more dull the blade is, the more time it will take to get the edge back. But the All American Sharpener will still remain consistent and effective either way. After some googling I found your website and returned the knock-off. I've ordered the real deal from you guys, keep the all american sourcing and manufacturing going strong - it shows!

You need to be careful with this. The cone is a tried and true way to center objects, but the cone contacts the hole "edge", not the hole itself. Many blades are stamped, which can leave one side's hole-edge with a deformation that will affect "centering". Double-check your holes. If you notice something strange (new blades not balanced) try flipping the blade over and see if you get the same result. Some people are going to unbalance their blades not knowing about this.
@Omniverse04 ай бұрын
I try to buy American where possible, but when you're offering a [relatively] simple product for 4x-5x what I can buy it otherwise, I have to wonder just how I can justify the difference. That's to say nothing of the build quality. I worked as a QE in the automotive industry and I can tell you're using quality materials. Just bought y'alls Blade Balancer and it is well machined - no doubt. But ~$230 is pretty rich when you're just a homeowner instead of a commercial operation and I can get similar for $50 and get it operationally adjacent with a few bushings and a little patience. If you're a lawn company, the All-American line of products are a no-brainer, but for the rest of us it's a harder sell.
@AllAmericanSharpener4 ай бұрын
Here's the thing. None of us really NEED a lawn mower blade sharpener. There are other options. The knockoffs you see that are "4x-5x" less all come from China. Every one. And you wouldn't have those available to you if WE hadn't invented this device only a few years ago. The reason this device is popular is because of all the hard work we put into it, bringing it to the market, manufacturing them ourselves, and offering top notch customer support. We charge a fair price for a tool that will last a lifetime, in order to keep All American Sharpener a viable company that pays competitive wages to American workers. If people expect small American companies to compete (price-wise) with Chinese manufacturing, then small American manufacturers are doomed. Sure, this might be too expensive for some people, but there are other options. Make your own, or sharpen your blades by hand, or come up with something better. But please don't just give your money to Chinese sellers and manufacturers who blatantly rip off companies like All American Sharpener. They copy our photos, videos and other marketing material. They do everything they can to trick people into believing they are buying an authentic All American Sharpener. They don't even know what it is or does (posting photos of their knockoffs next to string trimmers and other things that the device isn't made for). Please don't support that. Why would you support that? - Denny

During Covid I had so much freetime I rigged up a jig to hold my blades in place and a wicked edge/ edge pro style sharpening system and was basically putting knife edges on my blades. I had three sets that I changed out weekly and was mowing like every other day. That was the best my lawn has ever looked. Those were the days. Bring back covid.

What degrees setting is used on the jig when sharpening the Honda blades thank you
@AllAmericanSharpener5 ай бұрын
We typically see a 35 or 40 degree setting needed to match the factory bevel on Honda blades. Your mileage may vary, and require a little experimenting to fine tune the angle.

Are you supposed to touch up the back side of the blades?
@AllAmericanSharpener6 ай бұрын
No, you should only grind on the top beveled side of the blade. We usually use a wire cup attachment to clean grass and debris from the back side. Grinding on the back could compromise the sturdiness of blade, and doesn't contribute to getting a sharper edge.

I have two Commercial mowing companies that like and insist on a 45 degree blade bevel. Both claim the Stripes stand out much better. I don't mow much so I take their word of it and cash their checks!
@AllAmericanSharpener8 ай бұрын
While industry standard for the bevel is typically 30 degrees, people's preferences certainly vary. A steeper angle will result in a stouter blade edge, which may improve their blade life. The risk with going too steep can be "scraping" rather than cutting the blades of grass. Thanks for your share.

@AllAmericanSharpener8 ай бұрын
The blade balancer can accommodate blades with a center hole from ½" to 1 ¼" diameter. Blades with star shaped holes or other odd shapes will work, as long as the hole is symmetrical and the inside dimensions are within ½" to 1 ¼" diameter. @AllAmericanSharpener8 ай бұрын
We've had varying feedback about the angles on the Honda blades, so you may need to do some experimentation at first. Some have said 35, and others have said 40 degrees was a better match. I will also share another link to a video section showing a little trick for determining the setting to match the blade bevel angle. People have liked this one. This video should start around the 1:14 mark. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJSyknqbirhrmpYsi=fS_ROo6A2xs-xmpB&t=74
