I've heard that when riding/owning a motorcycle the occurrence of a crash is a case of when, not if - so have you (GutterRash Rides) ever crashed or had a spill?

My main point: It's raining -> Train I had enough of that crap in the UK LOL. Also, sadly Sydney is not as bike friendly as Melbourne is :(

Done plenty of full-to-empty rides, fill and go again... all depends on what you want to get out of it and other times it is just about taking in the scenery. My best trips are not planned other than to go out in a direction and ride till I want to stop and then camp under the stars in my gear and continue the next day, some people want accommodations in advance... But I have slept on the ground, by trees, bridges and park benches and had a great time, though sometimes waking up to ice is interesting. One time finished work and did the same thing about picking a random spot landed on Mt Gambia, 6 hours and 500 km later found a spot to lay down 50km or so before Mt Gambia, slept at a rest spot. Continued on and had a great day looking around, slept and then travelled back and started work the next day... That one I did with just my backpack, and done a few others with the tail bag and brought a tent on occasion.

My biggest failure as a rider is not taking enough breaks. I've done 3 hours in the saddle without even thinking about it, until the instant regret sits in the moment I try to separate my fast asleep behind from the seat. Talking about Bucket List Roads, have you found your way out to the Great Alpine Road yet? It's a massive, massive ride to do in a day, but well worth it. (even on a 125! 🙊) kzbin.info/www/bejne/onPaaapnnLekaK8si=NZs_O10iW5F8LZP-

I'm from NZ and was riding a 150cc out the back of Saigon and got pulled over at a police checkpoint. The hire company told me to take the keys out of your motorbike other wise the police will and it will cost you a 'fine' to get them back.

You can get the bike time to 20 if you lane split filter and you just send it. Me work takes normally 1 hour with a bike 10 minutes not great for fuel but its fun and i get more sleep.

I commuted on a motorbike for 20 years in Melb. I loved it and saved heaps of money on fuel. The old CRT monitors in the office then were great, they were perfect to dry out damp/cold gloves on top of the air vents, can't do that on modern displays!.

You’re lucky with your public transport commute. My ride to work is 40 mins, but by train is an Hour and a half. If I miss one train or it gets cancelled then i’m really screwed.

Yea, riding highway, while relatively safe is so taxing cause you are constantly thinking about your position and watching cars. Sometimes I just hang in the slow lane so I can just chill for a bit, but thats also kinda silly when on a fast bike.

I'm 30 with 15 years of dirtbike riding as a kid but only recently got my ls and an r7....following traffic laws on a bike is DEADLY...I've been cut off 4 times in 2 weeks riding like a law abiding citizen yet I can't remember a single near miss I had getting around on a dirtbike and no plate I'm not riding for 3 months untill I'm off my ls 😂 like shit I'm sitting on a bike between 6 tons of steel like cannon fodder

$300 in gear? $300 is half of the price of a decent helmet, let alone gloves, jackets pants & boots. Your safety is the most important I hope you don't discount it. also $0 insurance is very bold. a normal scratch on a car would be ~ $1k-2k, if you hit a car and damage it's frame / suspension then it's $5-10k; if the impact is head on and hard enough this will get to the engine and your liability could be $20k+, if the car is bmw/porsche...then this number could even explode from there

I’ve gotta take the Western Freeway into Port Melbourne every weekday It’s an absolute death trap, not many bikes on there, but I’ll keep riding it A lot of the safety aspect is on the rider, ride respectfully and predictably and you’ll likely be fine Definitely had my fair share of near misses though, and I get why even avid riders would just train or car it

I commute absolutely everyday with my motorbike in Melbourne, wether it's cold, hot, raining. I have so much fun doing so and when I know I save like 20 minutes on my trip by just filtering compared to car drivers I just say to myself almost everyday I'll never sell my bike. I ride a SV1000 S, powerful enough and full of torque with its big Vtwin

For me the preferred option is for bike, purely out of convenience. As someone who gets free public transport through my work, it definitely costs a lot more for me to ride, but I still only catch the train as a last resort. Good video and info 👍

Also, as a follow up. Road works may slow down a bike commute, we can filter which keeps us moving, but rail shut downs for maintenance add extra time and annoyance to a commute.

Do you mean while riding? I recommend a cheap low CC bike and putting a milk crate on it to carry your bag in. After ten minutes with a bag on with even light weight it does get uncomfortable.
