It sucks to sell a bike, but it sounds like you made a good choice, it's nice to have a garage full of toys, but you need what is going to work for you for the majority of the time. Good vid.

Have you already sold it or not. I just saw the same CBR 650 listed in the Facebook marketplace recently. I'm guessing a reseller bought it.

I think you should get a more powerful naked bike like the MT09/XSR900 or maybe the Street Triple. Have that as your street bike and keep the 400 for track
@Sharbelly2 ай бұрын
the cbr650 is more of a branding bike. you buy it restricted on your L's, then de-restrict it when you go open. thus creating brand loyalty and longevity in rider's minds. I came from cb400, xvs250, xvs650, scout bobber modified and now the cbr650 Full power. it needs adjustable front shocks and if you like lower clip-ons and adjustable rearsets to be more track ready.

also try the "Raised Body Height Kit For HONDA CBR650R" It will raise the rear tail end by 2 inches this automatically reducing the Rake Angle in front + Will make the whole bike more aggressive. I'm waiting for the new model to launch in my country India ASAP to try the these 3 things.... 1. Race Clip-ons 2. Raised Body Height Kit 3. Steel braided front brake lines. Gonna keep it stock coz firstly i don't see point it going full bonkers on road at the top of its RPM and secondly if modified even a slight bit, it will attract fines and confiscation like magnet here. Can't risk that.

you guys wait to derestrict your bikes? my street triple 660 was derestricted, full system, airbox mod, tune etc straight away

How’d u find the xvs650? How was it on the freeway (100-110 and overtaking? Tempted to get a different bike and de restrict it for my last 2 years, but also contemplating just getting a v star instead of taking the risk of getting caught. Always liked cruisers and it probably won’t tempt me to speed so I can literally just “cruise” to my full license 😂

why didnt you choose for the zx-4RR? imo the better bike between the normal 4 and the zx 4rr.

Talking about cheap insurance costs... I cop a lot of 💩 for riding a 125, but full comp insurance through Swann costs me less than $11 a month, so suck on that squids 🤣🤣🤣
@mikeadz12 ай бұрын
I remember when I did my Ls course and used their 125’s and it was actually a danger trying to change lanes they were that slow, i was a beginner though and I’m sure I could’ve dropped a gear but I doubt it would’ve done much especially full throttle and barely moving any faster 😂 the instructor kept making us change lanes and I practically had to practically beg the car beside me to slow down to let me in it’s lane. Can’t remember the speed i feel like I remember it being 60ks but I’m sure it would’ve had to be 80. I don’t have anything against 125s it’s just they don’t really have the power to get out of sticky situations, that’s the only reason I’ll ever look down on them. How much do u weigh? Im not heavy but not small either, but I feel like maybe I was too heavy for it? Because it seemed weirdly slow 😂 I’m sure u barely ever go through sprockets and chains either, heck even tires. That’s gotta be the best
@NicksBikes2 ай бұрын
@@mikeadz1 I actually agree 100% with you, 125's are underpowered to the point of being dangerous, especially for new riders, but I chose mine understanding the limitations of it. I'm sure there are plenty of people who jump on a 125 not understanding that it can't just rocket to 100k's (if at all, let's face it) and that's especially dangerous on regional 2 lane roads. I reckon something in the 400 class is a perfect starter bike. I've got my mate's 390 Duke in my lineup now which I think is a brilliant learner bike. It's powerful enough to feel fast without being absurd and it's still light enough to be nimble and easy to manage
@NicksBikes2 ай бұрын
As for tires and chains... I've got just under 12,700 on the clock on the CB125F and the tyres still look pretty damn good. I reckon at this rate I'll get over 20k out of them and although the chain seems to stretch like rubber, it's still got plenty to go, too
@wobblysauce2 ай бұрын
125's are still faster then most cars off the line at lights, it is only an issue on highways depending on what 125 you get.

Go get a Braaap 400 cruiser if you want to live on the wild side. To put it's reputation for reliability into perspective, Rider Support Australia actually WILL NOT provide Roadside Assistance for this bike 🤣🤣🤣 They can't be THAT bad, surely?

@ I have my license since I was 17 , I’m now 34, been on and off with motorbikes Used to ride cbr 250rr in my teens then have been driving scooters for pizza delivery for many years Bought cbr 650r this January , never ridden a litre bike so upgrading next year I know it’s gonna be a whole new beast but I know my limits 😅
@geraltofrivia46512 ай бұрын
@@Landlord1244I would recommend a 600. I did 1000’s for a few years and after experiencing it you realize it’s more fun to rip a 600 fast than it is to ride 1000’s slow. Unless you plan on doing highway pulls or something. Most people love 1000’s because of the idea of them; not actually riding/the practicality. Throttle control in corners vs just straight ripping a 600
@Landlord12442 ай бұрын
@@geraltofrivia4651 I have actually heard this a lot and I believe it’s the case . However I feel like I’ll be missing out on experiencing a 1000 , I commute to work daily on my 650 unless raining and have put up 12k in 8 months 😆 Most of my riding is on the highway so I think 1000 would be good Thanks for your advise mate

How many km's do you have on the motorway on your commute? My R3 is great for the 10km city section, but a little strung out for the 20km on the motorway. What balance would have seen you keep the CBR?
@aluisious2 ай бұрын
20km takes 12 minutes. Who cares if it's "strung out?"
@agingdangerously2 ай бұрын
@@aluisious 12 minutes for you is acceptable. But at what point could there be a better alternative is my question. I could do it on a 125cc also, but it's not the best tool for the job.
@aus-reviews84622 ай бұрын
apart from the fuel, track and commuting aspect I would have to disagree with your points, as someone who rode a ninja 300 for 7 years I ended up despising the thing after i got a litre bike as the smaller cc bikes are not safe on the highway with heavy winds blowing the bike across to the other lane and not having the adequate power to get out of sticky situations. Its not a real sport bike just a fast commuter and I would never buy a smaller cc "sport bike" again. After you get your opens the rego and insurance is the same as a smaller cc bike.. it might just be your location that determines the prices
@aus-reviews84622 ай бұрын
I should also mention that your perception is pretty typical for a learner but once you ride a variety of bigger bikes you will realize the small cc bikes were only ever holding you back from becoming a better rider

I found the LAMs CBR650R quite underwhelming as the power is restricted in its upper range (everything good about a I4) I doubt the LAMs version would be quicker around the track than the Ninja. Been on a mate’s full power CB650 however. That would be my choice in that platform.
@aluisious2 ай бұрын
Of course a restricted CBR650 isn't going to be faster around a track, it weighs almost 100 pounds more.
