I’m 1 minute in and I will say. Me Owning a “bigger” bike (660) and having that as my only option and dailying it. The amount u spend on maintaining it is actually ALOT more than what people think. With power comes wear and tear. On everything. So if you’re getting a bike intending on dailying it, go with the slower option. Better fuel economy, not running through rear tires every few months, cheaper oil, not wearing chains and sprockets as fast, etc. But hey, dailying a big bike is possible, as long as you’re on top of maintenance and are prepared to be throwing the money into it.

"So if you’re getting a bike intending on dailying it, go with the slower option"...No, it depends on "where" you ride, your skill set, experience, and how much you value life when the dice finally roll craps.

@@sword-and-shield He's not wrong. I have a Grom in Los Angeles, very car centric and fast highways and many highway like roads. Great daily and cheap parts. Kept it stock beside mirrors and tires. Tires are extensively cheaper and maintenance as well compared to a bigger sportbike. Good luck maintaining a bigger bike and dailying it every single day if you're the average Joe tight on money or is stingy. 125-400cc is a gold zone for those who want that balance.
@mikeadz1
@mikeadz1 4 ай бұрын
@@sword-and-shield like the other guy said, the 125-400cc range is good. Experience and skill has nothing to do with how much a bike costs in maintenance. Can you ride a bigger bike like a grandma and make everything last? By all means, but no matter who tells me they’re gonna get on their bike that has some decent power every single day and stop themselves from riding it hard here and there is lying. Simple. No disrespect to you, but using your logic you’re saying if a rider is skilled and has experience then their bike costs less in maintenance. What if a beginner that lacks skill hopped on a grom to work and back every day… is it magically gonna need a whole lot of maintenance? Grom tires don’t magically get more expensive, the oil doesn’t suddenly need to be top of the line… the grom is the grom… and it stays a grom.

@@mikeadz1 If its all about cost, then you are in the wrong sport. Go buy a moped and leave motorsports to those that actually take advantage of them. So with your logic it all being about cost, then get you ass back on a bicycle huh. Sport riding is about enjoyment first or NONE of it is worth it, regardless of cost. Throw in the higher risk of death, in a street riding let alone daily commuting and you better be maximizing that enjoyment ratio against the higher odds of death, not some bs cost factor or you are just some imbecile imo...No disrespect, with 35 yrs of dirt racing to street racing to track racing

@@briquan I daily my FZ1, I spend more money on tires because I do 25000-30000 a year on average. Parts are fairly cheap. The bike itself only cost $2000. If you stray from the path of just a super sport, you find some gems that last forever, fast and cheap to maintain

My bike was overheating even tho my coolant is full, but just realized its 1 year old coolant so thats why my radiator couldnt cool the engine so cant ride it until I new coolant in. Might aswell flush the engine oil out too. Yep mines a chinese bike. Textile is better for all weather riding, leather gets hot quickly its not good in the wet, it gets sticky too. But leather is good for abrasion.

Make sure to used distilled water when flushing coolant system out to prevent internal rust, happy servicing 🙂

Coolant should last 30000+ miles and/or several years. If the coolant wasnt doing its job, its likely very old or poor.

@@wlt3585well I've done about 2,000 miles so far its 2021 model. But I'm only guessing its the coolant. Mybe I need to top my coolant up on the mains side not the expansion tank side. But then again I ride it almost everyday

Textile 4lfe, riden with air temp -5ºc to 48ºc, rain and dry, never an issue had other then keeping hydrated. You can replace the brake lines and calipers on the 400, for added stopage.

What about doing some steel braided lines or a radial master cylinder to get more response out of the brakes

New rider here. Trying to follow ATGATT, but would like to hear your thoughts on pants. I currently have jacket, gloves and some riding boots that double up as regular shoes that I can walk around in, but I'm confused about what people do about the legs. Do people buy multiple riding pants/jeans because you obviously cannot wear the same one every day or do people no wear them while commuting? I bought knee guards instead of full pants to start off with for this reason, but would love to hear what you do about this.

What happened to your mirror all of a sudden? Haha. I have an 05 600rr which has good braking and it's braking became great after adding braided hoses, then swapping the axial master to an OEM (Nisin) radial took stopping to the next level. I am a fan of upgrading the things you use most often to get the most enjoyment from a mod. In a car, add a short shifter and solid bushings.
