The D3A motor used in the D2A is much less powerful and has far less airflow than the previous flow through motor used in the D and D2 series.

I have same vacuum. How does the handle come off ?
@graysonsvacsandmowers542619 күн бұрын
The outer bag has to be off first, and you have to pull on either side at the middle of the spine, those are latched together, and with some finesse, it should split apart.

I'm looking for an Elite II part the Elite model is U45043-910. The part is the turbine (fan blade) part 43565006 or QBPH38755030. Do you know where I can find it?
@graysonsvacsandmowers542620 күн бұрын
Parts for these are very scarce unfortunately, but if any are available, they are probably NOS on eBay or local vacuum stores.
@VacDrumLover964621 күн бұрын
I have that model too! Except it uses a 7 amp motor which is unusually interesting in the early 90s. 7 amp Elites were more common in the mid/late 90s.
@graysonsvacsandmowers542621 күн бұрын
Those motors were first put in mid 1992 model Elites (especially the higher end models) and eventually became the standard across the board after 1993 (since it was cheaper to make one motor rather than different ones for different model ranges) until mid 2001 when they got replaced by the 12 amp.

I don't like using headphones when vacuuming. I like to know how the vacuum is working. I personally don't find these that loud (I've had other vacuums from this time that are way louder), but to each's own.

This was a fixture in my grandmother's home! I was born in '85 so she'd had it about a decade by then, and it was kept in regular use until she passed in 2004. Had I the wherewithal, I would have swooped in before my grandfather donated it to Goodwill. He never liked dealing with the tank, so as soon as housework fell to him, he found a Hoover that he liked better. That old Rainbow worked like magic, and I hope it still is and is making somebody happy.

Hey Grayson, I have a question. Could you link me or tell me what kind of bearing puller you use to repair your vacuums like the Elites and etc or what would be your recommendation. Great videos as always too 🫡

I just buy a cheap small bearing puller on eBay or Amazon.

Also, can someone advise me on where to buy re-usable cloth vacuum bags. I recycle and try to live zero-waste, I would prefer these. Thanks!
@graysonsvacsandmowers5426Ай бұрын
There aren't exactly any re-usable bags for these unfortunately, but these do take Hoover Type A disposable bags, and if you search for these online, you can actually find genuine bags, or maybe even HEPA cloth bags if you're lucky.

I just got this same vacuum for $12 at a Restore. It's very loud. hopefully it will cope with my dog's fur in the carpet. any advice? Thanks! Great videos and it's nice to see other people love vintage vaccums. I'm happy when they're restored and don't go to landfills!
@graysonsvacsandmowers5426Ай бұрын
Any of these older and vintage vacuums are honestly just old relics of the past during a time when quality was actually good. And I've always made it my mission every time I get an older vacuum to make sure it's running just as good, if not better when I go to sell it in the future.
@Suddenlyits1960Ай бұрын
The 1955-1980 D and D2 series were the best vacuums rexair ever made. When they went to plastic they would never be the same. Still using the D2
@graysonsvacsandmowers5426Ай бұрын
I grew up with the D3 since my aunt owned 3 of them in the past, and my grandmother was gifted one by her sister, and after owning this and my other dark brown D2, I can say, these are definitely better built than the D3's are, despite being practically the same cleaner under the skin.
