Great video! 1.) Permits needed? 2.) was water an issue? 3.) Places to resupply along this section??

They're called trail gaiters and they keep the dust (well some of it!), seeds, small stones out etc. Really useful. Thanks for watching.

Hi do you have a gear list? Did you have a laptop or Ipad for uploads? Did you use cash or open a bank account, I am waiting for my pass confirmation. Also resupply was it all from Us Supermarkets? Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated, like how did you get to the trail head, what city did you fly into, and how long before the start of the walk. How long was your visa?
@WayneFenton Жыл бұрын
Hi. There is a gear list video at the start of the PCT videos. We just used our UK bank cards & withdrew money from ATMs along the trail. Resupply was from supermarkets along the way. Bigger towns like Bishop & Ashland we packed ourselves numerous supply boxes & posted ahead to collection points (US post offices etc). We had a B2 visa (you need 6 months minimum for the PCT). We flew into San Francisco & got a train to SD. We had a week in San Diego but we had a friend who lives there who drove us around. If you check out treksnappy.com you will find loads more info and a full blog on our trip.

Just done this. Don't get me wrong, it was good but its too safe, and you spend more time waiting about for others to move forward. Still worth doing but I wish I had known before

My 11 year old son and I hike from the California border to McKenzie Pass in 2020 during Covid. It was really great because there were so few people on the trail. We took the PCT through the park and had meals up at the rim and then back down to hike. I am missing the trail. Thanks for posting your walk. I need to get my footage together so I can enjoy it. Last year I hiked from the CA/OR border SOBO south of Etna. It was beautiful! This year I want to finish Oregon. It is going to be very exposed so I will have to consider hiking early in the season.

What permits do you need for just doing section P of PCT. We want to do 100 miles and this seems a good section to tackle. Also, can you just pitch a tent anywhere or there are camping permits needed( sorry a newbie here)
@WayneFenton3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what permits you need for that section. We had a PCT permit which covered all parks/areas. Generally you can pick a permit up for a region when you enter the park/wilderness section. Check out Castle Crags park and Russian Wilderness for permits. You can normally camp anywhere as long as you follow leave no trace principles. Check out the PCTA site for loads more info on camping & permits.

Hello TrekSnappy pair! I'm looking to do a section hike of the PCT in this section (P: Castella to Enta). Are there any resupply points between Castella and Etna? My group and I are newbies and don't expect to go more than 12 miles per day, so we may need resupply, as I've heard one can usually only pack ~5-6 days worth of food. Any advice?
@WayneFenton3 жыл бұрын
You could try and hitch to Callahan on from highway 3. They have a general store or a post office you could send a package to. I don't know what they're like though or opening times. It's a great section and Etna is a nice, cool town. Check out Dotty's for great good.

Is it legal to wild camp in Spanish Pyrenees?
@ramongarcia17714 жыл бұрын
Hello SlawekMalolepszy. It is legal to spend the night in a tent from 1600 meters high. And remove it at dawn. You cannot stay permanently (except accident or illness) as if it were a campsite. This is general. In National Parks ( like Ordesa-Monte Perdido N.Park and Aigüestortes N.Park) you can plant your tent at night from 2200 meters high if there is not shelter nearby. I hope i have helped you. The spanish Pyrenees are really wonderful. Greetings from Barcelona !!!!
