I was there July 14-22, what used to be an awesome lake had been decimated by a phosphate bloom. The water looked like a gas slick, we head down to dam and all the dead fish were stacked over there. It was sad to see and had to fish Big Green Lake to get some action.

Nice seeing a new spot, even if it wasn’t the best lake ever.

My families place is about a hour north and have fished it a few times, they drained it about 15 years ago to rebuild the dam and try to slow the weeds but it is a losing battle, but it actually looks like much cleaner than I remember. I remember only very small trails around the lake. SPRO actually used to hold a huge SPRO frog Only tourney on Buffalo.

I feel like I heard about that spro tournament before. It is a perfect lake for it, that’s for sure

My family has been vacationing at a tiny lake near Montello for decades- tons of smaller bass, not much else in there. Glad to see you checking out new spots!

Lake Delavan for around Chicagoland area. Hard to have bad days on that lake even with all the pressure it gets. Chickamauga and Door County are special places to fish though so had to mention them. Love the videos and was nice getting to meet you this summer! Will have to get you on the kayak for a Fox trip. Looking to hammer the South Elgin to St. Charles pool this summer.

Although I live in Chicago, my favorite body of water will forever big Big Bob Lake in Ontario. I grew up at my cottage on that lake and miss it all the time. No largies, but lots of good sized smallmouth and lake trout Congrats on the 1K man, it's peaceful watching you

Great video as usual and congratulations on all the subscribers. I love the Fox River fish Saint Charles area mostly sometimes Montgomery the small mouth has been my best year forever mainly using jerk baits and square bills, but my PB almost 3 pounds 19 inches normally in a year I catch about three or four smallmouth so far I’m up about 40. It’s just been fabulous here. Keep up the great work.

I just started fishing again this year, and the Fox is my favorite- I had multiple days at the Algonquin dam pulling in 20+ smallies from the bank, plus the odd drum or walleye. I do appreciate your specificity when talking about the general stretch of the river you are in, and I’m definitely going to try out some of your favorite baits in the spring
@bighamps2123 күн бұрын
Congratulations! You have certainly earned it, and I wish you many more awesome milestones! I'll say Lake Vermillion in Minnesota is my favorite since it's the only place I've ever caught a musky. 45 inches by the way. While you are offering up some sweet baits, I must disqualify myself, having won last years giveaway. I had a pretty fortunate year, fishing anyways, and would like to see a fellow angler start next year on a high note as I did. Best of luck to all of you, and keep those videos coming. Cheers!

For me, the body of water will be Lake Michigan, for those giant smallmouths. Since you have a good kayak now, you most definitely need to join the US next year. As for the river, I love Pool 13.

Bangs Lake IL…. looking for a new crappie lake. There was a HUGE fish kill on Bangs this summer. All the crappie died 😡 so my annual start of crappie season will have to be elsewhere. Btw, I live on Bangs Lake

Just came across your video. You still run tournaments outa here and what club is this?
@btmbass8558Ай бұрын
Glad you found me. This is a small club based in northern Illinois. We change up lakes every year so tichigan isn’t always a certain thing. It’s often our backup lake
@WorldsOkayestBusDriverАй бұрын
The BIG bass, what made you fish there? Was it on wood, rock, edge of a river channel? Trying to learn. Thank you
@btmbass8558Ай бұрын
So that’s a steep rock wall where the current pushes up against it. That particular spot there is a small intermittent creek that has formed a small rock point. It creates a nice Eddie for the fish to hang out in and ambush from.

That was cool to see! Do you think you’ll ever be able to use your boat on this stretch again? Maybe in the spring assuming we have a lot of snow melt and the water levels go up significantly for a period of time? It’s rather worrying to see Fox River turn into Fox Creek above the old Carpentersville Dam.
@allenshander5055Ай бұрын
Where are you launching at? Been wanting to get out on that stretch of river.
@btmbass8558Ай бұрын
Sorry this is one of the few launches I don’t share. This was a place I was told about and didn’t discover on my own, so I don’t feel it’s mine to share. If you look around on google maps though you’ll find a few options
@label308Ай бұрын
I don’t know if it’s just the fall but a lot more pressure on this stretch lately. Construction at the launch sucks too.
