The S1 has an OLPF. They are 100% bringing that camera back. Thats the only reason they left it out of the S5 line

Interesting to see a KZbinr setting realistic expectations. Based on the information I have, you're right-there's no S1H II coming in 2025. But there is some fire to expect from Lumix this Year not only in february.

I think they will based on the SL3 or whatever Leica just released. Lumix is like the super affordable Leica's with way more options.

I don’t hate you for your comments. I just think (maybe wishful thinking) but Panasonic has always dominated the video game. I don’t think they can just axe their flagship video focused camera. The question is which sensor are they going to use. The S5II can’t do 4K60 The new Leica S3 sensor is 60 Megapixels - too large for video. They need a new halo model camera even if it is not a high seller. Personally I love my S5II X (I also have the S5 I and am NOT selling it but using it as a second camera angle) I am happy they made the S5II because it brought them so many sales they are full of cash. I think the S9 is a success as well after lifting the recording limits. Since they are releasing an S1R II I wonder what the video upgrades will be (if any)

Hm kind of true even if for some people it is sad... Look I just purchase a GH6 new because of budget and I wanted aince 3 years to have it and when it hit 850 CHF around 880$ after tax I just bought it...what I hate with the S5 line is the slow readout in FF...specially sometimes I pan with long reach lens like the 150-600 and at 600 need to be super carefull to do it not too fast because the readout is so damn slow...with MFT sensor I have no issue...

Zero reason to not release a camera that matches GH7 specs in full frame. Sony did it years ago, Nikon, canon did it last year. Get with the times.
@GrenlandUnderVann9 күн бұрын
Panasonic market share is miniscule. GH7 production = 1000 pcs a month. There simply may not be a sustainable market for a 6000 USD Lumix S hybrid at this point.
@tehbrowncow11 күн бұрын
I think you are a bit wrong about the budget point and why you think Panasonic won't release an S1H II - I have frequently seen bodies on sets I've worked on, and I've definitely seen them in the wild through BTS stuff. I also very rarely see them on the used market, which tells me people that buy them typically hold onto them. In my experience, I also notice the vast majority of owners are simply industry workers, not social media types which heavily impacts people's exposure to the tool. It's got decent market share just being a B/C cam on straight to Netflix productions - and on a lot of decent budget productions where autofocus simply doesn't matter. I'm crossing my fingers on an S1H II. I like the S5IIX - it is a good tool and is punching so far above it's weight class, but there is TONS of opportunity for Panasonic to take hold of some higher end market share with an S1H II, and I don't think they will miss out on that opportunity. So many influencer types avoided Panasonic because of the autofocus, which is a non issue now. If they simply repackaged an S5IIX with an OLPF, that viewfinder, and a faster sensor readout (or that juicy SL3 sensor), I think that's more than enough. But they also have the opportunity for internal NDs, internal RAW, a higher dual ISO (640/6400 would be rad), a stop+ of dynamic range - any of these pushes the camera across the line. I seriously think if they throw internal NDs and internal raw recording into that body, it would be an industry front runner immediately.

Happy New Year Lyndon!!! White in Revery stopped shooting weddings??? Darn. Panasonic is in a tough position. They probably don't have enough sales to get Sony to fabricate a custom sensor (the way that Nikon had sony fabricate the semi-stacked sensor for the Z6 III) and I don't know if Sony is going to allow Panasonic to buy the 12MP Sony sensors used in the a7S III / FX3 / FX6 / ZV-E1. And I don't know if Tower Semi is capable of making any full frame sensors that have the capability of the GH7 sensor. I guess we will have to see.
@lyndonlabayan11 күн бұрын
And anytime Panasonic talks about why they choose sensors, they talk about not compromising on both photo AND video IQ. You're right. They don't move enough units.

In P mode that noise is not there. Also, in P mode i hear that type of sound if i zoom in ir out the kens. Any thoughts? Appreciate any help here.

Rattling doesn't sound good regardless of what your settings are... I would update both your lens and body firmware first, maybe do a reset and then try again. Good luck!

Wonder why you call yourself a hobbyist wedding videographer? Do you feel like you have imposter syndrome? Cause honestly there’s not much difference between you and a “pro” if at all.
@lyndonlabayanАй бұрын
It's mainly because it is a hobby! I book less than a handful a year, only as much as I have time for. This hobby does have the privilege of making some income but even taking that into account, it's not enough to even qualify as a side hustle... it does buy a lens or body every now and then though!

Director John Mctiernan once said, "It's your medium. Make your movie." Movie directors might give the same criticisms on shots, edits and styles, if asked on their tastes, but each director has their own approaches to storytelling. The good news is, there's many great films that are handheld, gimbal-smooth or still in their filming, and some work and some don't. We just hear the criticisms more from wedding filmmakers because many have platforms and share their view. The thing is, many KZbinr's takes and masterclasses they sell, share takes that they change overtime (and they'll sell a new class with those changes). With the tons of tutorials an aspiring storyteller watches, it's interesting to keep up with "what works" or not. Nothing wrong with that; it's just the way that goes.

Thanks, Lyndon. Can I ask what sort of lighting you use for speeches? Are you using a fresnel? There are some small(ish) lights by Zhiyun and Godox (and probably others) that look promising, but I am not sure how well they work with modifiers. Anyway, thanks agin for the video.
@lyndonlabayanАй бұрын
I used a set of Apurture LS60X. I got them before the launch of all the smaller cob LEDs. The godox lights look good! I wish my lights were smaller but they do have a focusing element built in for spot lighting. You can't go wrong with any you mentioned but the accessories and power options should be your deciding factor.

I have been loving shooting weddings with my 24-105 f4, but I need to pick a prime lens for exactly your reasons. I can't decide between 35 and 50. Why do you opt for the 35?
@lyndonlabayanАй бұрын
I find the 35ish comfortable in terms of positioning and framing. It's wide enough uncropped for me and can get plenty tight when I crop. A 50 would feel too tight on the wide and I imagine I'd have to really work to frame up in a hotel or smaller bedroom or something like that. I think anyway!
@ohdeazy1567Ай бұрын
what do u think of the 28-105 2.8 instead of the 24-105 F4 ?
@lyndonlabayanАй бұрын
I'd feel comfortable at a sale price... totally a mental game for me but ya, if I saw the 28-105 at 200ish off, I'd do it. That or if I opted to not pickup a 'low light' lens and depending on how I felt about IOS cranking for low light, the F2.8 could still work.

Hey Lyndon! I recently shot an indoor hour long video with my S5 and S5ii (historic church with windows, mixed lighting--when clouds messed with the sun). I had AWB on both the S5 and the S5ii with settings seemingly the same. The S5 kept a cool WB shot through almost all of the hour, the S5ii however went from cool to warm back to cool throughout. It wasn't sudden, but I was wondering if you knew why it did that (besides being a different camera, I mean, is there a setting that you know of that I missed?) Thanks--as a Lumix M4/3 and full frame video shooter--I really enjoy your content!

Have watched quite a few MangoStreet and WIR videos to learn from them. Like you said, I wouldn't do event videos if it wasn't to make them cinematic - drone shots (establishing shots), slo-mo, and adding home videos, documentary style footage and audio to eventually have the video look elegant, expensive while also being personalised and cinematic. I feel I'm always trying to create a short film with each video, but to each his own.

It really bugs me they reserved this feature for the S5 II models and didn't add it to the S5 and S1. It's been on Sony and Fuji for many years. Not like it takes a better processor to lock in WB, it already does AWB continuously. Gatekeeping... SMH

I was member of justin Porter Academy, and i will be candid about "Justins style" and the industry in general. 1. 60 fps isn't a "crutch" like you say. It is the content of most modern videographers. It is the A roll and not the B roll. It is used as the main content and not as it is supposed to be, which is complentary. Btw this wedding video style was created by PHOTOGRAPHERS not actual story driven directors, dps, etc. We need to stop it. Our couples dont actually like it, its just all they know. 2. "justins style" is expensive, and his results are not easily replicable. Because the reality style is not widely adopted, only a few will be able to benefit from the label. What is the actual turnaround for those of us who learned the reality style to now making great money? It is very low because the reality style also IS NOT BEST SUITED FOR EVERY CLIENT. As a business strategy, basing your present day off of something new is a bad move, but if you can pull it off, it is very rewarding in the future. 3. Content creators have changed our industry. With the introduction of content creators, the wedding video offering has to change. With their presence, it has challenged our current position we have been holding on to. The reality is that the supply is immense, and most wedding videographers are only doing it super part-time (5-15 per year) to make extra money. While there is nothing wrong with this, the problem that this poses is that there is no consistency in the market. Prices differ entirely, and some are way too high to justify while some are too low to be taken seriously. This industry has no checks and balances, so this is to be expected. "Justins style" i would say, is the only style that justifies a large price tag. I know jake weisler films with 2 fx3s and the bare minimum gear that most videographers have that are 5 times cheaper. With those guys, i could see a 2x mark up because of experience and demand, but not 5x. They are only doing this because they can. This needs to end. 4. Videographers are experiencing the least bookings they ever have, and the guys on top are getting richer than they ever have. Survival of the fittest, and in this case, we should be focused on what value do we provide to our client. Whether you go with justins' method or your own, the question still remains. In the end, no matter how much you love your product, the market dictates the need for your product. If the market is not buying, it is your job to find what best suits your bottom line while aligning with the desire of the market. It's time for all of us to do better and stop doing the bare minimum.
