I know you guys are praising her and that’s good because she deserves it but she wasn’t acting here. This was real. She was really crying.

Judy is in a class of her own. To sing with such vulnerability, seriousness, power, pathos, and control. The dedication and talent is maddening.

Judy was in top form for this CBS broadcast. Oddly, it was taped at NBC in Burbank, but no matter the venue, Judy shined.

the two of them were truly soul mates. Mickey only saw her as a sister, but if they were together, maybe Judy would lived as long as he did

Judy's a little difficult to hear in this clip. Either her voice simply didn't project, the mic wasn't placed properly, or something, but I had to strain. Mr. Thomas was fully audible, a true delight to see & hear. He's seen to good advantage in this clip, quite handsome, dapper, & elegant. I think American audiences always responded favorably to him. In terms of cinema history, I think Mr. Thomas is rather hard to categorize. This no doubt stems from his uniqueness, his singular personality as an actor, there's nothing of the generic about him. Perhaps he's easier to categorize in terms of British cinema, his true home. He played a certain type of stylish con-man peculiar to that society of the top hat, cane, long cigarette holder in hand, champagne glass clinking, & evening shoulder-cape wearing rogue or scoundrel, a less-than-honorable ladies' man, always on the make, out for the fast-buck, a smooth seducer of other mens' wives, an unfaithful philanderer in his own, etc. I'm speaking, of course, of the typical cinematic character in which he most often appeared. I suppose one could say he was a poor man's Cary Grant, though on a far lower moral plane. A skilled movie comedian, Thomas' silky accent, distinctive pronunciation, & uniquely memorable countenance, all contributed to an appealing persona. He just really can't be categorized!

Garland was too good. I don’t believe an actress today could match the emotions…. and the singing. I just saw another KZbin of this deleted scene and it has the orchestration. This scene here is perhaps the rehearsal and it’s only with the piano. The deleted scene with orchestration is good and just as heartbreaking. However it continues to the scene where Aunt ‘Em shows up in the crystal ball and Judy is talking to her and that kind of brings back a strength to the Dorothy character that I think would’ve offset the heartbreak of this deleted scene. So I go back-and-forth on whether it should’ve been kept in.

The only two people who had that 'thing" in their voice that just made a song bigger and bigger the further they got into a song, even when they were singing soft. I've always only recognized that trait in these two here. What a joy to get to this stage in life and KZbin makes it possible for me to see them TOGETHER, which I never would have seen any other way as this aired 14 years before I was born.

00:22 Every time Judy sang this medley, she made this gesture after "why it's." Mort Lindsey said Judy never sang a song the same way twice, and many fans parroted this quote, but Judy- a total pro who knew what her audience expected- not only sang her songs identically, but made the same expressions and hand gestures and little dance steps. Aside from dedication to her craft, she had a superhuman memory.

I Love Judy Garland! Grand Video! Judy Garland sings the song, By Myself in a light upbeat tone. Judy Garland first sang this song for the 1963 movie I Could Go on Singing in a very downbeat, lonely, sad tone. Judy Garland needs to have weighed ten more pounds on her 4 feet 11 1/2 inches tall, tiny frame in this video! Her hair should have not been cut so short. Her dress is beautiful and sheik!

I've never really appreciated Judy, the only song I can remember from early childhood is Over the Rainbow 🌈, I like a lot of her songs now, mainly due to Be Kind Rewind, her video on Judy is a must. But after listening to only a handful of her songs I find this song so sad, especially since she passed the following year, the difference in only a few years from her big TV specials is shocking, but you see it in her demeanour, her eyes. So sad.
