Do you get 4 chances in each cd dvd? If you used it once to change the region does it stay that way until you want it to change again?
@magnoliamo2 күн бұрын
You get 4 chances total. It says in the region code that you changed it to until you change it back. For example, I changed it once for a DVD and kept it that way. This doesn’t affect Blu-ray Discs so there’s really no reason for me to change it back unless I am going to watch a DVD with a different region. That’s when I would need to change it again. Hope this helps.

Why do we need to connect a DAC when we are using AVRs like Denon and Marantz. They have their internal DACs. Connecting DAC to high end AVRs is a waste of money. 🤷🏽
@magnoliamo4 күн бұрын
Great question. It’s a matter of choice. My Marantz AV8805A had Sabre DACs built in but it didn’t support DSD128 or higher. It would only do DSD64. It couldn’t support MQA files on Tidal. It also couldn’t play hi-res FLAC files with sampling rates higher than 192 kHz. If you are serious about audio then I suggest trying a relatively inexpensive DAC such as the AudioQuest DragonFly red. Even with its limitations, music through the Dragonfly sounds way better than the built in DACs on the Marantz AV8805A. Ultimately 2-channel music is all about preference. If you are happy with the built in DACs on your AVR then you are good.

I picked up one of these in the initial run. It's a wonderful little amp that sounds a little more engaging than the other budget level amps that I have. Right now I"m not using mine too much as I needed to simply my desk setup. But I'll find a place to use it somewhere around here. It's too fun to just sit on a shelf.

Hi Can we aspect soon another review of a 4K Blu-Ray release 😄 I’m very curious what you thoughts about using the auro3D upmixer in Dolby Atmos soundtrack, and if there are any benefits.
@magnoliamo3 күн бұрын
@engelsje1 So, I think I talked about this in another video. When you engage the auro 3D upmixer on a Dolby Atmos track, the upmixing is performed on the 5.1 or 7.1 track. The AVR comes out of the atmos mix. At least that was the case on the Marantz AV8805A. So, auro 3D upmixer is using algorithm to apply certain sounds to the height speakers. So it’s not the true Auro 3D mix that you get in Europe.
@engelsje13 күн бұрын
@ correct but I cannot remember the video where you talk about it True that the Auro3d up mixer is not the native auro3d that is on an specific blu-ray, with auro3d soundtrack But in some cases there is a bad atmos soundtrack in a movie, without any information on the heights channels, and then you could have benefit to use the upmixer But some times I have my doubts if you using always the upmixer in every Blu-ray with atmos . In the beginning I was doing that, because I was so enthusiastic about the upmixer. Opinions are divided about this issue 😄 Now I always using the native soundtrack on that specific blu-ray, either atmos or auro3d

Hey im a little confused by your videp because im a complete noob at this. Im looking to buy a pioneer 9.2.4 receiver and i want to get an amp to power some speakers so that the receiver doesnt get overwhelmed by it. Currently the 2 subs im looking at are self powered so no issues there. Can you recommend an amplifier or amplifiers that would be necessary to power the 9.2.4 channel speakers? The receiver im looking it is a pioneer VSX LX 505
@magnoliamo7 күн бұрын
I recently posted two videos about the Pioneer Elite LX505. Here is a link to the one where I walk you through the connections to power an external amp. You will need an amp that has RCA inputs. I use a Marantz MM7055 and a Russound P75 in this video for the 7 channels and use the Pioneer to power the height speakers. You can use all 11.1 RCA pre outs to power your 7 bed layer speakers and 4 height channels. In that case you will need an external 11-channel amp or a combination of a 7-channel amp and a 5-channel amp. There are many to choose from. Emotiva makes some really good amps and so does Monoprice. Obviously Marantz has the MM8077 and the MM7055 as well. Here's a question. Why does the unit not pass-through video unless you turn receiver on and reselect the source again then turn it off? Every time I turn on the TV I get no signal until I turn receiver on re-select cable box then turn receiver back off. My Dennon just worked this thing is finicky
@magnoliamo11 күн бұрын
@@bryantphil5577 Good question. My Marantz 8805A worked the same way. I would turn on the directv box and TV on the Marantz would turn on and I would need to manually turn it off. On the Pioneer there is an HDMI setting under the Hardware section where you need to disable HDMI CEC and then under “HDMI standby through” select Cable/Sat or whatever input you want to pass through without the AVR turning on. I just did that and it works just fine. Only the TV and the Directv box turns on and the Pioneer says off and passes the video through to the TV.

As long as you have the MultEQ app you can follow the easy steps that I used to run A1 Evo. In the description of the video I listed two links, one for the A1 Evo video by obsessive compulsive audiophile and the other from Kevis and Films. Kevis explains the steps in a very easy to use manner. OCA’s video link will bring you to his channel where you can self learn how to add custom target curves and such. I used the standard curve that OCA has but you can visit AVSForum and there folks have provided their own target curves.

@ man I wish I could pay you to do it for me lol… so I need to use a pc for this correct?
@magnoliamo11 күн бұрын
@dannyciallella8197 lol thanks. Yes you need a PC or Mac plus REW. You export the Audyssey settings onto your PC and then upload the settings to the A1 Evo program. A1 Evo runs the script and produces the post calibration file that needs to be imported back to the MultEQ app and then you send those settings to the AVR. REW is used to as the go between for calibration.

If your subs are sealed, I would pull the curtain all the way to 10hz. With the 3 filters I use them for different bass curves. For example, 1 flat/0. 2. Plus 3. 3 plus 6. You can also test your 500hz cutoff vs full range. It would be even cooler to do a blind test if someone could help you.

I would not limit to 500hz. It completely seperates the left side vs the right side and sounds weird, I've tested both in my room. I've had dirac for like 3 years. It's like having a bad crossover, but at 500 hz, not 80. Keep reading up and experimenting with uploading target curves if youre going to commit to this room correction software. I found my sweet spot to be a +7 to +8 db shelf boost in the bass region. Your note about the alien romulus: Reaching +8db just means you have no dynamic Range left. Youre at +8db just TRYING to play an average spl of 85db reference level. So when the movie calls for an 105 db explosion, you have no dynamic Range left, because you tapped out at 85db, and you'll clipp the amp. I would not do that. And ditch the internal amps, I agree. External amp is the way to go
@magnoliamo15 күн бұрын
Thanks. I will remove the curtain based on your feedback. When I went to +8/9 db on the volume control it sounded louder but to your point bright with no dynamic range.
