I was afraid of getting a copyright flag on the video which would have been sad. That’s why I didn’t want to center the video to the display. I apologize for that. I will take the risk the next time.

@@magnoliamo No worries, I hate stupid copyright stuff on KZbin, makes sense now. Although, unless you have dedicated multi-channel microphone setup, it's next to impossible to capture home theatre sound on a phone. Good to know about Kef, I might be in the market for one, and now between B&W, Focal and Kef!

@@magnoliamo What do you think about Kef R7, not as large as R11, but same drivers, just 2 less bass drivers. Did they have it there to compare to R11?

The Best Buy I went to had the R5 and R11. I haven’t auditioned the R7 but it is very close to the R11 from a frequency response perspective. I do believe that the 4 vs 2 6.5 inch hybrid aluminum cones is the reason for the excellent dynamics on the R11. For smaller rooms R7 would be good while for medium and large rooms R11 is the only way to go.

I’m a fan of the R11’s now.

@@magnoliamo Yes, Design Center, which they don't call it any more. And, yes, they were able to drive them with the McIntosh hybrid power amp. I think it produces 200 wpc.

Great question. A1 Evo relies on the Audyssey measurements. Were the original Audyssey measurements accurate for your speakers? Did you take all 8 measurements with Audyssey? Before running A1 Evo you can check the force front speakers to small option. That will set crossovers more accurately.

@@magnoliamo I did do all the 8 measurements, Audyssey did set my fronts to large as well, I manually changed them in the MultEQ (Non A1 EVO profile) to small and 80hz. I will try the force front speakers to small option.

Thank you. That’s a nice DAC that you have. It is for 2-channel music as you know. You can integrate into your setup for 2-channel. For multichannel audio, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos you should go the TV->eARC-Receiver route. You will not get Dolby Atmos via optical. eARC is great if the receiver has fewer HDMI inputs.

Yes they need to be wider. It depends on how far your front speakers. Mine are 11 ft from the main listening position 4ft apart from center on each side. Wides should be installed as follows per audioadvice.com home theater configuration tool. Front Wide Surround Speakers: 5' 5.53" from the screen's wall at 3' 2.00" from the floor to the tweeter. These should be in line with the side surrounds.

Hi - The angle being referred to is the angle between your head and the speaker. In-ceiling speakers with pivoting tweeters work best for Atmos. Once you have the speakers installed then you can point the tweeter towards the listening position.

@@magnoliamo Gotcha, but don't you need some lower end frequencies to reach you when you are listening for overhead sound? Not sure how low those tweeters go to. I see you have a large sub which normally is set to cross over at 80hz to 100hz right? Kinda new to this!

@Karim-ik5ij So, the tweeter is for high frequencies. The woofers will produce the bass frequencies but not significantly low. The bass from the heights needs to be directed to the subwoofers using crossover settings in the Receiver.

The 7th and 8th measurements are 6 inches to the right and left of the MLP at the same height as the MLP

@ all measurements are on the couch at the same height as the MLP. As long as the extension cable for the mic is the same type and actually works without Audyssey throwing out an error it should be ok. I have always been curious about the extension cables so let me know if it works. Thanks.

I don’t have PSN. I didn’t try to setup a profile for a different region. That might work as you suggested. My PS5 came set to Region A because I purchased it here in the US.

Audyssey is known to set subwoofer level too low but in my opinion it depends on the location and distance from the main listening position. What subwoofer do you have? Are you using Audyssey MultEQ App to run Audyssey? The crossover on the sub is disabled if you use the LFE input. How many Audyssey Mic positions are you using?

@magnoliamo yes im using lfe input.Im using the audyssey mic which came along with denon receiver.Taga 212 se 12 inch sub is what i use and my room size is 13*8*6 room. Since its a small room i placed the mic in 3 positions.centre left and right.

Ok. I would recommend taking all 8 measurements around the main listening position. MLP, left and right to the MLP. One directly in front of the MLP and then left and right of that. And try to experiment with the phase if you have it by listening to some music. Adjust the phase to the point where the bass from the sub is the strongest and in sync with the fronts. If you REW and a calibrated mic then REW is a powerful tool for sub alignment with your fronts. Once you have aligned the sub with the fronts then run Audyssey. That’s my recommendation.

Good question. The IMAX audio option will only appear while playing DTS content. If you are using the Disney Plus app on the PS5 then you can follow the steps in this video to set the audio priority to DTS. Then you should see the IMAX Audio option. Try that and let us know if you are able to get IMAX DTS on Disney+. It will not work with AppleTV.

Yep! When the Panasonic failed. I tried the Apollo 13 DVD on the PS5 and didn’t work. I don’t know why that is the case. I will try other discs tonight. The PureStream logo is not on any of the titles that I have and there isn’t a separate PureStream library. So, the answer is a negative on PureStream.

Yeah, I don't believe the PS5 has Purestream capabilities yet. I recently upgraded my internet and now get 250mb/s with my PS5 internet so if it was an option, I should be able to get it. Hopefully they update that with the Purestream option soon.

I can also confirm that the Netflix App will output AAC 5.1 and in turn enables IMAX DTS on your AVR. It doesn’t work on the Fandango At Home App because it has Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital +. Need to check the MAX and Prime Apps

@@MattyDaddy14 Thank you. Initially the LFE was anemic. On normal IMAX DTSx soundtracks I leave the IMAX audio setting on Auto and get great LFE/bass. For this forced IMAX audio setting I had to use the manual option and set the low pass to 80 hz and set “use subwoofer” to “On”. Once I did that the LFE/bass was comparable to the Dolby Atmos sound. Glad you found the video useful. 🙏

Good question. A1 Evo shouldn’t set your fronts to Large unless you have the option checked to set the fronts as large before running the script. If you didn’t select that and Evo came up with that then leave it. I don’t believe it’s correct unless your front go down to 20 hz at 85 db

I am wired for rear heights. I want to go with B&W CT7.5 for front and rear heights. Until them I am using the Top Rear's as rear height because they are so close to where the rear heights would be mounted. I used to have MartinLogan Motion 4 installed at the Rear Height Spot. @@MrGettemTV I've been saving one for a few years now. And the release of the Strato V helped significantly drop the prices on previous models, so it was a good time to jump in. Deadpool/Wolverine and Romulus were too hard to wait for. Alien will be worth the wait for the atmos mix for sure.

Thanks. I’m glad they didn’t just rehash the same story. I found the storyline to be engaging. I wasn’t expecting much to be honest. It’s a light watch with some good moments from Glenn Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones.

I suggest trying -15 offset. Don’t manually boost any speaker trims. Just go with the standard Audyssey settings and use -15 offset. Hopefully that sounds better. Let me know please.

@magnoliamo I have been using that. It's not perfect, but it's way better than no offset. I never really noticed it in films; I just took it that Atmos was doing its thing, but when I was gaming, I noticed sounds that were behind me were way too loud. Turning Dynamic EQ off fixed that, but at the same time, the sound is a bit anaemic without that lower-end boost D-EQ gives. The ideal would be D-EQ on L/C/R and normal on the surrounds and height, but no way to do that.

@mrmrgaming So, the only other suggestion I have is to try A1 Evo. The DEQ target curve might fix the issue for you.

Dolby Atmos option is for games that have Dolby Atmos. For streaming apps leave the option at Dolby Audio. For the def tech studio 3D mini you would have to put your ear to the side firing speakers while playing Dolby Atmos content.

Do you have an opinion on that sound bar? Also, soundbars are limited when it comes to HDMI’s ports but it is my understanding that for better sound quality (when it comes to soundbars) is better to connect all ur devices (PS5, Switch, Xbox, etc) to your TV and the TV to the sound bar via eArc. Is that true? My current set up is LG TV C1 2021, XBOX Series X, Switch, PS5, Studio 3D Mini from Def Tech. Unfortunately, my LG tv does not support DTS but I rather play 4K@120Hz since the apps I use for streaming do not support DTS. Once again, tks and keep up the good work.

eARC is the way to go for the PS5. I connect my PS5 to my Sony A80J and utilize the eARC too. As for the Samsung Q990D according to rtings.com that’s a better soundbar than the Sonos ARC. It performed well in their testing on Atmos.
