Just take 5 close measurements (up to 20cm from MLP): 1-MLP, 2- right above MLP, 3 - left above MLP, 4 - front below MLP, 5 - back below MLP . Now export the .ady file to your PC and use OCA's A1 EVO script. This ensures best results, even better than Dirac live on my X4800H with dual subs.

@kuriakos36 there is a target curve that you set. Evo gives you one but you can load your own as well. That is according to OCA’s KZbin video on this.

Glad to see you trying out my suggestion. Tighter bass is definitely one of the benefits and is probably most noticeable in surround and immersive content. The other benefit is probably somewhat less noticeable with surround content and more applicable in 2-channel. (It does have the same benefit in surround, its just harder to isolate the effect because so much is going on) I recommend listening to some 2-channel music or content you know really well to listen for additional changes.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will listen to some 2-channel content and report back.

At the moment, I am trying to figure out the front wides' placement: closer to the mains, closer to me, or right in the middle. As usual, different diagrams show different things. Marantz will show one thing, and Dolby will show something else, lol.
@magnoliamo3 ай бұрын
lol yes. I started with Marantz recommendation but then switched to Dolby’s spec. It is in the middle of the room, half way to the listening position. I enjoyed your video. I have often wondered about the suggestion of taking measurements behind the seat, as your ears will never be in that position. I am going to try taking measurements using your technique this week. Since you are using REW, have you tried the A1 EVO process? The bass response in my system has improved exponentially after modifying my Audyssey files using this process. There is a KZbin vid on A1 EVO and you might want to read the details about it on the AVS forums.

Thanks. Truly appreciate the feedback. I did watch the KZbin video and have also been following the AVS discussion. That’s next on my list to try out. Thanks for reminding me.

I only do three. I have three seats. I've been using Audyssey for 15 years with Marantz, and it always sounded best if I stopped at three. This may be partly why. I just followed the screen like everyone else.
@magnoliamo3 ай бұрын
Correct. I have always heard that you have to take all 8 measurements. You can take all 8 around your 3 seats. It will sound even better.
@MiG-40i18 күн бұрын
the more positions you meassure, the more compromises you add. less is better here. if you do 8 points, audyssey and A1 EVO or every other method will try to make corrections for each measurement point. that will effect the linearity of your measurement in a bad way. so 3 points of measurement is the way to go

@ all measurements are on the couch at the same height as the MLP. As long as the extension cable for the mic is the same type and actually works without Audyssey throwing out an error it should be ok. I have always been curious about the extension cables so let me know if it works. Thanks.

Is Audyssey better than Dirac?
@magnoliamo2 ай бұрын
Dirac is supposedly better because of subwoofer calibration capabilities. But Audyssey MultEQ XT32 is no slouch. I have no experience with Dirac. If you have Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and the MultEQ App then along with the calibration file from Obssesive Compulsive Audiophile the Audyssey sound is much improved.
