It’s not “Indian” it’s “natives” or “indigenous”. And it has been for a long time

This post is a lie. 1.) Native Americans did not marry. 2.) If they were in love, they simply moved together. 3.) If they decided to break up, they simply stopped living together. 4.) Children were the responsibility of the entire village. The only way a white woman could be a part of an Indian village is if she were captured in war or abandoned by her family. Why would an Indian want to marry a woman that knew nothing of their customs? Native Americans weren't rapist, colonizers were!

To be fair, many of the women who lived with Indian tribes did not want to return to the white community. They much preferred the Native American way of life.

Thank you for this story. My four times great grandmother was also kidnapped by the Delaware Indians (turtle clan of the Delawares led by chief Killbuck). She was held six years after the Fort Seybert massacre and escaped at Fort Pitt.

I'm surprised they didn't just fill Georgia with Scotts. Isn't human meat shields for the English their normal role. I'm about 40% Ulster Scott...lol. Fight the Irish for land they said; then fight the Indians for land they said. Though, the second was for William Penn in Pennsylvania before heading to western North Carolina.

thomas caustin, interesting, Thomas Didymus Costin had first show here, wife's family related to highway robbery convict, pardonned. seems the son sold arsenic and strychnine, and local mob died of "alcohol" poisoining.. but the had staged bullock train breakdowns with poison flour to kill off original people around one tree hill battles, interesting re UK history before scots/catholics etc took off doing horrible things a long way from crown who was happy to kill off problems as origins story.

Middle Tennessee is a beautiful area, my preferred area of the state. I currently live in West Tennessee, an area where my Father was born and raised. Beyond the landscape, it is the people that offer the desirable or undesirable experience. Tennessee is a beautiful state, I hope it gains greater Harmony in its Ideologies. I loved living in Nevada, different landscape, but it too is gorgeous. I have family in Murfreesboro also. Use to go there each summer for Band Camp @ MTSU. Awesome area. .

A thought just hit me. How dense was the Indian population in the east? Like where this story is taking place. I've never heard any discussion about that. Out in Dakota Territory and further west, including southern plains the Indians per square mile would seem much less. The flatter terrain and huge tracts of nearly treeless land just doesn't seem like a good setup for a very dense population. Listening to the stories of the late 1700s gives me the impression there could be an Indian behind every bush or bend in the river. Also, it seems the settlers were always getting ambushed or fired at by unseen Indians most of the time. Maybe they were alert and the Indians were super good at camouflage. But I can't help but think there was some naivety involved with some settlers. Anyway I certainly don't envy them poor folks with their flintlock muzzle-loaders. I'll take an AR15 or re-think about moving west. In a pinch, I'd settle for two Winchester 1866's so I'd have one as a quick "reload". And add a couple .45 revolvers also.

I think I missed part of the story. She gave Jumping Bear a secret letter, that he took to the fort. The letter informed them that she was being held captive with the group of Indians. And about a week later, those same Indians, who were getting ready to wage war against the White men in the fort, instead, walked Fanni into the fort and delivered her back to her people? I know I missed something in this story.

Build your nation? The nation belonged to the native people of America. Colonialists had no right what so ever to take their land. You should be ashamed of your ancestor s, not proud of them and certainly not defensive of them.

I was in her theater room one night watching a movie, I fell asleep. I woke up, something grabbed my leg and jerked me out of the recliner. I told my daughter, dont buy this house. It was a huge beautiful house. But it was haunted, or that land was. They bought a house by that large lake in Hendersonville, that lakes huge. So is her house.

My daughter lives in Hendersonville. I was at her rental house sitting in her garage smoking, I had the door open It was cold and raining. I looked up, and there was an Indian standing sideways outside in Indian clothing. Then he disappeared. I have seen ghosts since childhood. I told my daughter about this, and said, this was built on Indian land. I googled it and found out it was. A lake was behind her house. It was old, not manmade. I guess indians used this lake for water and fishing. The man who had the farm had a large group of horses there.

I have heard stories that Wesley wasn’t a Christian until the return to England In 1738 where he learned of personal salvation at Aldersgate where he learned that “you are saved by grace through faith.”
