In this video we read from "The Creek War of 1813 and 1814," by Henry S. Halbert and Timothy S. Ball, published all the way back in 1895. This tells of the 25 major US Indian Border wars. We also discuss from omissions from this list.

My husband's Irish immigrant great-grandfather was a U.S. soldier during the Sioux War of the 1870s, stationed at Fort Sheridan and transported Sioux prisoners at one point. Only by luck was he able to avoid being involved in the Little Big Horn battle (thank goodness, or my husband wouldn't be here today).

Very interesting video, the only one that I’ve never heard of is the Janandoa wars as well. Some of the wars in this list were part of a larger conflict and not considered wars in their own right, also the start or end of these wars really depends on who you ask, as sometimes there was a peace signed but some of the Indians were still fighting. An example is the old northwest war, some say that the war started in 1790 but I’ve heard that there was conflict and fighting as early as 1785. Also the Comanche wars, there were short periods of peace during that long period I know, and many say the official end was in 1774 with the surrender of Quanah Parker, but to my surprise it seems that there were still small bands of Comanches fighting on the plains up until around 1880, I know Herman Lehman was with them and was part of one of the last bands to surrender. There was also the constant skirmishes with the Blackfeet in the early to mid 1800s in the days of the mountain men that to my understanding were never actually classified as a war. Some important ones that were left out was Lord Dunmore’ war which I’m currently reading a book on right now (very interesting),and also the Navajo wars. It’s great to see someone that has the same interest in this stuff and also probably close to a similar amount of books as I have in the Indian wars, great work!

I've lived in MD all my life and have had a keen interest in the natives in the early colonial period and I've never heard of the Janoda war either. Janoda is not the name of one of the tribes in MD and perhaps it is chief's (?) name. There was a brief war between the MD colony and the Susquehannock tribe who live along the Susquehanna River in Lancaster Co. PA with the colony suing for peace. Unlike VA, the MD colony tried to stay out of full-scale wars with the tribes, but tensions flared from time to time.

@@deadhorse1391 Yeah, during the French and Indian war in the Cumberland area and there was one raid as far east as Emmitsburg that wiped out a small settlement on the Monocacy river.

I’m trying to learn more about the Blanches, or Bearded-Indians, White on upper Southern branches, Missouri 1500 in 1760. I purchased a book that was printed 1837 by Samuel Drake. It’s the history of the Indians of North America. I can’t find much information about the above. Indians didn’t know if they were considered Caucasian or not.

The greatest number of natives killed in this same time period were between the tribes and not with the US. Of course I would be counting all of what is now America and not just the areas that were states at those times.

Most likely true but no way to count casualties on inter tribal wars that were never recorded in the written record

The Dakota sioux Indian wars actually extended from 1862 to 1865. 1863, The very elusive the halfbreed John Campbell led led a small war party into blue earth county minnesota. To the third year and the fifty year. The small party of Dakota sioux Indian warriors killed several families and a very fierce gun fight against us soldiers! From august 1863 to may early of 1865. John Campbell was captured by minnesota authorities. Later he was hanged at Mankato minnesota for the murder of this poor innocent murdered victims! Ending the last unknown Dakota sioux Indian war. The last summer military campaign of General sully, who led a fruitless search expedition into the devils lake region of north-eastern Dakota sioux Indian territory. Later the battle of fort Rice of July 24 1865, along the area cannon ball of the very beautiful Missouri River of the present day northern standing rock sioux Indian reservation of ND. A large party of Lakota sioux indian warriors wanted to steal horses from the X former confederate soldiers known active the us blue uniform soldiers. A very fierce battlefield scene began bullets flying from both sides and dust rising from horses hooves made a very impressive beautiful battlefield scene! The very last battlefield skirmish in Dakota territory of the 1860s. My great inspiring wisdom for today. Have a great fabulous wonderful day.😀

thank you for another wonderful video. i am sorry but i find it hard to believe that white women were treated respectful. perhaps some were but even if they were used only as slaves and not abused in any other way will be hard for me to believe. i feel bad saying this but given this was written by men i fear as to what type of respect the writers gave women. in those days men were not always respectful to women using them as workers and child bearers rather than someone to respected. ... jmho
