😮😮I appreciate our contractor was on location when our adjuster came out after a tornado dropped a tree thru the roof and into my elderly MILs home. The contractor was pointing out additional damage to the roof trusses and insulation that we would have missed.

This is extremely helpful information, for new and experienced contractors. Thank you so much for sharing all of this valuable knowledge free to contractors online! Inspirational, practical and extremely useful. I do have some questions on how you would strategize payment strategies in California where a contractor cannot bill any deposit greater than 1000$ or billing for any resource not yet provided by the contractor. Do you have any experience using escrow companies and have insight for advantages / disadvantages thereof? -Benjamin California Building Concepts

No repairs that have not been included in the original scope are not approved to be completed until your reconstruction supplement estimate is APPROVED ! The insurance company has all the LEVERAGE. Reservations of Rights. The right to inspect the damages at the 1st notice of loss. That’s how contractors complete repairs for work that has not been approved then there is the back and forth. That’s why DOI complaints are more often than not documented as NOT WARRANTED.

Nice job on including sill flashing for the bottom of the windows… Don’t forget to ALSO include these items required by IRC chapter 7 wall covering AND mfg specs: 1). J-Blocks @ all penetrations (Lights, Ext Outlets, Vents, Meter Boxes, Etc - I like to list this total qty right at the end of all my penetration line items) 2). Flashing Tape: Self-Adhesive (MLPFLT): along the SIDES & TOPS of all Windows, Doors & Horizontal Trim Boards 3). Metal-Z/Drip Cap Flashing (SDGFLZ): above the TOPS of all doors, windows, horizontal trim boards & penetration blocks 4). Finally, let’s be great contractors, especially on full exterior rehabs..and CLEAN THOSE WINDOWS!! (CLNWD): Very Easy add-on when they’re single hung especially abd can’t clean them from inside the house…”Well, Mr Adjuster, should I let poor old Mrs Jones know she can use my ladder, since you’re not going to pay for us to clean up our mess?” 😂 Let me know what ya think! Watching all these insurance estimate videos , just got my first estimate check but I already called the shop when they sent the initial email , detailing the amount for my first estimate . I told them to send supplements to the auto insurance company . Currently just waiting to call the 1-800 number of state-farm and tell them that I won’t move forward until I get my second estimate for additional damages . do you have any advise in this situation?
An insurance company is only paying for 40 tiles out of 10k sq ft. There are no matches in dimensions from the manufacturer, or any reclaimed boneyards across the country. They refuse to pay for anything more than 40 tiles out of 10k sq ft. It's sad.

Got paid for stolen pool equipenent, then state farm pays a supplemental claim that they say they werent supposed to , " drain and clean pool " instantley had the work done, after cleaning it needed to sealed and painted, took over 30 days to deny that supplemental claim ,,so pool sat empty and so ecessive damage was caused by sitting empty that long, they had closed that claim , agent said to open new claim for new damage caused by original claim " stolen pool equipement" they deny that claim due to " heat in area "! ??? Heat in area ?? Really what kindvof reason is that ,? From them paying out a glaim and admitting they werent supposed to , to coming up with reasons out of thin air , WHAT DO I DO NOW ? Pool is still empty because i dont want to touch it to jeopardize the claim somehow !

This is the correct way to perform emergency services and invoice homeowners insurance Looks like this video was about five years ago, unfortunately, insurance companies have made a lot of changes, some of them will still pay you directly for the emergency service quickly, but a lot of them now systematically jumble everything together to cause issues for the contractors . I am in Florida right now due to the two large hurricanes in a row. The homeowners insurance industry is changing rapidly due to the frequency of large storms and the amount of money the insurance companies are paying out.
@InsuranceRestorationTraining3 ай бұрын
Yes. They are always changing for sure. Florida is in a league all by itself too. In the 25 years I’ve seen, they have always changed. They have always jumbled up the process. They change, yes. The game remains the same though. Thanks for the comment! 👊😉

@InsuranceRestorationTraining4 ай бұрын
Sounds like that would be the electric company’s liability. I don’t think it falls on your insurance. However, if you do have property insurance… if you were to file a claim they may cover it and then go after the electric company to get reimbursed. Sorry you are going through this. I hope it works out for you. Thanks for watching and for the comment! 🙏🙌👊😉

As an active adjuster who has worked worked for a roofing company. Insurance companies have something called estimating guide lines which means this is how we address a claim. Adjusters enforce the policy. Which has nothing to do with GAF, Owens Cornering warranties etc. For example contractor says we had to replace the sheathing. Policy may have a endorsement. Endorsements add or take away coverage. Contractor says the sheathng is rotted. Policy says we don't cover dry rot. We need a nailable service policy states has to be damaged by a cover peril meaning if hail the size of a soft ball does not penetrate through the roof surface and damage the sheathing it will not be covered PER THE POLICY (get used to hearing that). When filing a supplement don't send in a bunch of photos up close with no labeling, overviews of slopes and elevations with a finger pointing at it like what part of the roof is that? What slope is that is that? Is that even the right property? Take a pic of the property mailbox or front elevation with the residence address on it etc... You want to make it as easy as possible for the adjuster to access the damages duh there the ones cutting the check aka don't fumble the bag. Adjusters have 100's of claims to deal with and every insured thinks there claim is the most important and rightfully so. Between buying licenses, taking file notes, sending emails, chatting with agents, answering phone calls, meetings, trainings etc.. Nobody has time to sit there and spin there wheels figuring what the hell there looking at because the contractors photos look like a kid holding a magnifying glass to ant. Make your life easier by paying attention to detail photos and a itemized estimate. Sythentic felt take a photo, I&W take photos leave no doubt that the material is present because if not do to high claim volume like 70 claims per desk adjuster and lack of detail guess what DENIED and thats another closure. Now if the adjuster is on fee schedule he or she is trying to write for as much damage (STORM RELATED) sudden accidental which means an act of god as possible because you receive a percentage of each claim you close. The video it's cool, however if you do the things I said I bet you get alot more supplements approved. FYI figure out if the insured has an ACV policy , Factoring, or scheduling. Because if its not a RCV policy you in for a rude awakening, but don't take my foolish advice.
@jacksonmcnally132 күн бұрын
This is a large part of the issue. Many adjusters are handling 100s of claims and are awful at communication/organization. As a contractor it’s not really our issue they don’t have enough employee. Figure it out. Pay more, hire more. Don’t complain you are swamped at every turn, homeowners don’t care. Figure it out lol
@retrored74292 күн бұрын
@ the insurance carrier is hiring more Employee’s that’s why they hire IA’s to handle the increased claim influx. The insured does care because if the CTR implements the practices I explained, supplements will be approved the first time and everybody wins, but again don’t take my advice.

What about during the rebuild process if one of those non-approved supplement items comes up that you really need to do in order to complete the job. Do you have to stop there and wait for approval?
@InsuranceRestorationTraining4 ай бұрын
It actually depends on many different factors. If it’s a small item that is essentially a consequential item relating to another item that has already been approved I would say no… just get it done. At the very least, make sure the supplement has been submitted first.

I have worked for insurance companies in the past. I would love to get back on a few lists. My contacts retired and the new guys preferred their own contractors. I was in the groove for a number of years after proving to a district manager that an agent was taking kickbacks from his construction accomplice. I had done many bids and had not gotten any of them. Always told better luck next time. When calling to check status on some of my quotes I was answered by the district manager. The bids on file did not parallel the ones I had sent. I courteously resent my bids to that manager. Yea it hit the fan.
