Your right Kelly looks nothing like melenie but at least while Doug Marland was still alive like in this episode Emily with Kelly was bieng written as Douglas intended remember it took almost 2 years to find a replacement for melenie. As for the Rosanna recast with Cady mclain never would have happened with Douglas alive and neither would it have happened with Meg either nor Craig either or seirra. And remember Rosanna was one of the last new charecters Doug Marland created. As far as Douglas was concerned scott Bryce was Craig Finn Carter was seirra and Yvonne perry was Rosanna And jenifer ashe was Meg period.

@@gabrielstern4992 The Rosanna recast seemed to be most successful, with the character’s bitterness as a driving force. It’s akin to the new Barbara of 1985. That said, Mary Beth Evans did a fine job as Sierra, but barely had a storyline to really represent her history in present day plots.

Oddly enough, after David’s death, a brunette briefly replaced Betsy for the memorial episodes. It can be jarring if it seems that a family resemblance wasn’t prioritized.

@@Oakdalian I am not against recasts and I love Mary Beth Evans but she is Kayla to me at days but as sierra she did do well with what's written as for Cady mclain never liked her as Rosanna and she was just not rosanna to me but I loved Cady as, Dixie on amc and still do. And don't get me started on hunt block either he was not Craig and neither was jefrey meek or John Lindstrom Scott Bryce is Craig but as demonstrated as Craig back in 2007 as 2008 you can have Scott Bryce back but if you don't fix the writing of the charecter correctly and continue the same bad writing even with the real Craig it can look awful. As the charecter was, still bieng written like tonio Reyes but Scott's performance then was a bit of a throwback to how Peter Boynton played tonio Reyes. And shows why Scott Bryce is still loved by fans because of his versatility even if he was not being written properly.

Which indicates Douglas Marland intended to write him back in as Paul But because Doug Marland died none of that hapoened so if anything Doug Marlands death was responsible for the change in how Emily was written not in this case the recasting with Kelly who was new and only got maybe 8 months of Doug Marlands writing amd by the way I did not like either the things a lot of the other writers did with Emily either but you know what I think even with melenie most of the other writers would have done the same things and you know what melenie Smith off camera is pretty fiesty herself Kelly isn't.

​@@Oakdalianyou mean the amnesia and car accident that took until 1997 to fix by Stephen demorest and by the way even though Doug Marland said he intended for holdens amnesia to be permanent I think he actually intended to reverse it the next year through the holden Lilly Damien Malta story but that got changed a lot because Micheal David Morrison died. And then Doug Marland like 3 weeks later. Still amazes me none of the other writers until Richard culliton came along could figure it out by Richard first writing holden out playing Damien as a good guy then killing him off which of course got reversed and then Stephen demorest finishing it. All while Richard left room for fans to figure out Luke was really holdens son not Damians yet none of the writers after Stephen demorest could bother to actually do a storyline like that even though it was blatentely obvious Luke was holdens son. Shsme on Felicia minie behr for ruining that and undoing Damiens death and then introducing the molly conlan charecter as holdens lover before Lilly going against Doug Marland like really could you see Doug Marland doing that considering holden was all Doug and so were the Snyders obsoletely not because he would have done that while he was alive if wanted holden to have a lover before lily.

@@gabrielstern4992 Perhaps a new threat to Lily and Holden was the alternative to Damian, based on behind the scenes arrangements, thus Molly. Though that would have been just as good a time to introduce Aaron instead. Plus, we already knew of women in Holden’s past like Janey Cobb, Monica Lawrence and Angela Visconti. A new invention seemed odd.

Now since you mentioned Aaron Snyder I would have flipped the switch in 1993 by killing Caleb off and had it turn out Aaron Snyder really was Andy Dixon son and then killed Courtney off as soon as haley barr wanted to leave maybe threw in another revaluation that Adam Hughes was Tom's son after all and you know jenifer was hals daughter was hals not Daryl Crawford come on everyone knew Hal was jenifer munsins dad if you follow the time line. And Daryl Crawford Is one of those Douglas what were you thinking charecters and storylines but I Loved how even when he threw curveballs he left room of you looked close enough to change it later or fix it later and yes I know you heard Julie say on camera in September 1990 but Andy I can't sleep with you, but how do you know off camera they did not sleep together right after she said that. Let's see another Doug Marland fix I can think of which happened years later that no one thought of and that's Daniel Hughes bieng Tom's son. And again I would have flipped the script and had it turn it Daniel was Paul's son while getting Paul and Emily back together right back in 2001 when giving a good explanation for why Emily slept with Tom because she wanted Paul to stay after a short visit and they slept together but he was not Ready to move back to oakdale yet again. And that's, why I miss Doug Marland so much because he just had a, way of corecting things and shocking you but not getting into too much of a rabbit hole hint Iva rod and Lilly bieng Ivas daughter but wait Iva was adopted too. .
