This sounds closer to the actual song (since the singer has an alto voice). I really wanna play it but I’ve seen the score and it’s PAINFULLY hard

Explaining orchestra in one point, Cellos and violins get the solos, bass is background, viola ties everything together, bass and cellos have the hardest solos(when they have them) violins often overated,

I’m really having a difficult time deciding which one. I really love the deep rich sound of the viola better but I fear it will be harder for me to learn than the violin which would be easier on me.

I'm just relieved when I don't have to answer "what's a viola?" It annoys me when they keep getting it mixed up with cellos and violins during my explanation. I'm peeved that I can't read all of the treble cleft because I have to translate it from alto cleft which only goes so far. Lastly, how every time pop music is arranged for strings, even if the singer is an alto or a tenor, it's always arranged so that the violin or cello gets the melody. ABBA medley was unrecognizable to my disco hating mom.

Most music school graduates end up in military bands which you don’t need a degree for that. I think you should save your money. Use GI bill after.

The strings family: 1st violin: Younger than identical twin 2nd Violin by a few minutes; the baby of the family and very popular at school 2nd violin: Overshadowed by 1st, constantly tries to gain parents’ approval Viola: Middle child; sweet, timid and introverted and just barely puts up with his younger brothers Cello: Oldest of the full-blooded siblings; very protective of Viola and 2nd Violin when they get bullied in school (cellos are the most likely to be nice to us) Double bass: Their older half-brother from Dad’s last marriage, they rarely see him but all really enjoy having him around when he does visit them Guitar: Favorite cousin, and Double Bass’ best friend Piano: Their classy, popular and rather pompous cousin who always flexes on everyone and gets all the girls Harp: Piano’s little sister; very shy and introverted unlike her brother, but gets along quite well with the bowed siblings

If the string instruments were a family: 1st Violin: The baby of the family, gets all the attention from Mom and Dad and is really popular at school 2nd Violin: The identical-twin of Vn1 (but older by a few minutes), who is a bit shier and always gets overlooked and tries constantly to gain parents’ approval Viola: The introverted middle child who only just barely tolerates the shenanigans and teasing by his younger twin brother pair and always gets overshadowed, but is very sweet and the nicest and most timid of the bunch Cello: The eldest full-blooded sibling; is the parents’ second favorite child and Viola’s favorite sibling. Is ready to throw fists with anyone who dares bully Viola or Second Violin in school (cellos are the nicest to us Violas irl) Double bass: Their half-brother from Dad’s previous marriage, whom they rarely see but all greatly enjoy having around when he visits Guitar: Their favorite cousin Piano: Their cool and popular cousin who gets all the hoes and just flexes on everyone

As a singer (tenor) and bassoon player, I must confess that I prefer the viola. The sound the viola makes is similar to the tenor register. Thus, it’s really close to the voice. I also think the viola has a fuller, richer sound than the viola. I most appreciate its wider range (from C3 to at least G5). Above all, the violin is overrated. Sorry, violin players. I still respect you, though. (-:

I lowered the sad violin meme song by a whole octave, I had to add 3 measures of rests and 2 measures of joined open C’s because it would’ve had me go lower than my viola can go lol

When my middle school orchestra was doing a solo/ensemble project for a special concert, it took me quite a while to find a group that was interested in including a viola part (especially since there were like 4 of us, zero basses, 10 cellos, 15 first violins and 10 second violins); but then two violinists and a cellist thought it would be cool to make it sound like the cellist was playing a bunch of octaves and have someone help out with the violins (and it was). And our music teacher stood up for us too, it helped that at times he could get really scary and make the Hulk look like Kermit. Luckily I was never bullied though, probably because I was one of the tallest in my year (and almost everyone at my school adored me for my kindness)
