Maybe my perception is skewed because it's one of the few fandoms I'm engaging with right now, but I feel like the IWTV book readers are especially bad about this for some reason? And I say this as a book reader. I apologize on their behalf :(

I am a HUGE Reader and something I hate is people thinking when something in the adaptation differs from the original story it is obligatory BAD. People need to understand what "adaptation" means and that a good book story is often not a good movie script. Stuff have to change. And lastly, stop crying that an adaptation ruin the book. The book still there, you can reread it. CHILL!

Can I give more than one thumbs up? The number of Heartstopper readers that flat out tell reviewers and reactor what's coming up in future seasons is, honestly, troubling. Makes me worry about the intelligence of the human race.

With Dune I said the same thing. Thankfully my coworker, who read the book said, keep watching. Saw the second movie when it was released-glad they weren’t a fragile 🌾 man and let me discover the story through film.

I trust the creators to continue to keep Louis as a strong supporting character (similar to how Lestat was in these seasons). They were able to craft an entirely new framing device around Louis' tale in this one. I'm sure they can get clever with the rock band framing device in Season 3 to fully integrate Louis. And I know they are eager to see what diversity they can work into the upcoming characters. There should be plenty of opportunities.

Don't think the point of an adaptation is to have to read the source material first... It shouldn't be, anyway. If you want to after watching something because you're captivated? Great! But if you need to read a book/comic before watching something to "get it," something is wrong

i saw the movie IWTV and didn't like it, i wasn't going to watch the show until a friend said it's different and really good...so, to each his own...i don't know if i will watch season 3 of IWTV because Jacob/Louis has to take a back seat...but that is just my preference to let the series go because the absence of the new and improved Louis (he is a badass)...again, to each his own...

When I was young, I often resented cover versions of songs I loved. They were never good enough and they were never "right". As I got older and began to enjoy mythology and classical theatre writing I began to realize how often what we consider "original" (Shakespeare, Homer, any of those famous storytellers) could also be described as fan fic. Fuck, Shakespeare straight-up rewrites actually history and changes it all the time. Now, I love hearing cover versions of songs I love, and I especially love it when the artist makes it their own and takes liberties. And if I don't like that particular interpretation, guess what? THE ORIINAL STILL EXISTS! I CAN LISTEN TO IT ANY TIME! It's the same with film and TV adaptations of comics or other iconic characters and writing. I enjoy or don't enjoy the piece, and if I don't like it, well, I don't like a lot of stuff. It's not meant for me. And if I'm going to criticize it, I try to do it on its own merits, not BLEEDING DESPERATE NOSTALGIA.

Yep! This is my strongest pain point outside of trailers ruining movies. The MCU isn’t the original. It’s a reimagining of all the stories before under specific directors and story writers. Also, applies to Live adaptation. Hate on Little Mermaid and Ariel. Be like she’s not black. 🤨 She’s a mermaid. This the direction for this movie. Like Cinderella with Whitney Houston and Brandy was ahead of its time. It was well represented and diverse. Rank those 3 movies. It’d be the Brandy at one, Camila at 2 and the 2015 one with Lily(?) in 3. But there’s always someone spoiling the art. Readers all fake purist. I’m still hot of them killing T’Challa. RIP Chadwick Boseman but even he didn’t want that Black Panther power to stop.

I read most of the harry potter books before the movies would drop and I never spoiled it for anyone. People who read ahead spoiled half blood prince for me but I still enjoyed the story. People saying your not a real fan because you never read the source material reminds me of anime fans who disqualify your fan status if you only watch shows from the past decade, this was back in the early 2000s before streaming mind you. Seriously book readers need to chill abd let people discover the original IP for themselves. I'm still going to read his dark materials even though I've already watched the show. Same goes for the Chronicles of Narnia, if they make new adaptations I'm still going to read the books.

I read the first two of Anne Rice Vampire Books The first one was ok but I did prefer the Vampire Lestat over the first. She also wrote some erotic novels under a different name that I liked as well. That said I thought the movie was ok and she wrote the screen play for it. But Miss Rice had said in past interviews that she wanted to see her books made into a series. I Love the series so much and no its not like the books but based on the books and if they were just going to re-do the movie and the book it would not be worth re-telling. I love the changes that were made in the tv show the writing acting and character development is wonderful .I wish people would just open their minds to a re-imagining of this amazing story and accept it on its own merits. I bet Anne Rice did.

I read Interview with the Vampire back in the 90s and I sincerely enjoyed the series more. But I don't have to go out of my way to critique people that haven't read it's experience I prefer that they tell me what they felt without bugging about this happened in book and was better there. Some people are so entitled 🙄

The craziest thing was after the finale, I went back and started a rewatch of season 1, and I was like, ohhh dang, he did do that, or she did say that, or they dropped that easter egg in season 1 that x was happening later, or listen to what "Rashid" was actually saying, and I was just like, they had us from the jumpidy jump! Also...book fans...I agree...chill. I've read the books, I'm re-reading ahead of the future season, and we're a passionate bunch because I mean they have been in extinsense since the late 70s...so a lot of book fans, but the way some people take agency over every little drip drop and detail, is crazy. As you said, book vs. movie vs. show, are all different, they all have their plus and minus points, but end of the day, we're all here to enjoy and have fun. This is not life and death. It's fiction.

Armand is no good but I still love him lol. Also, Armand save Louis twice. He prevented him from killing himself in the 70's and he gave Louis his blood in the 40's. I think we are missing some informations. Anyway, I hope season 3 will be good. I'm a bit worried but I shouldn't.

No offense, reason why I love Jacob within this show with Sam Reid, is how the actors and actresses have very good chemistry to make the show work. Which is one of the reason why it makes the show works, cause if you have people, who plays the leads that work well with one another, then you got something working. If you don’t, then it’s like the movie version with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt that everything falls apart. And it’s hard to have people to work well within the show, without one of them being sh**y for the rest of the show. But all in all, this show works, for some odd reason and I’ve just finished reading the main book already, and they are following the first book, not in word for word, which there are good changes, but there are some lines and words that IS pulled from the book, and the changes to make the setting feel real within the early 1910 setting. Since the story does take place in late 1700’s/early 1800’s Louisiana within the book, the changes has to be done to set it almost to our modern times. But this is just from what I remember from bit of the books, since I’m reading the second one and read the first and third book of the vampire chronicles. Don’t ask me why I’m not reading it in order, I like going out of sync with most of the books, since I got into it late in life and before Anne Rice passing with the last book that is co-written with her son.

After watching that AMAZING season finale I feel confident that Jacob Anderson will definitely be back in season 3 (or season 1 if they call it The Vampire Lestat) Now he won't be the main focus as this will be from Lestats POV with quite a few episodes devoted to Lestats origins and Nicky and Gabrielle and Magnus and all that. But I can see them doing the present day story with Lestat doing his band to help protect Louis and maybe Louis going on tour with him....regardless I know he will be in there and Im damn excited😊

Armand is in most of the other books very strongly ...we also have the Black Mother/Goddess beautiful Akasha Queen of the Damned and her king who is Black .....some of the Talamasca actors can be changed for Black actors and they are very important ........Louis will still be a part of the story ..as some of Lestat's future and Lestat interacts with humans more ..................... the sexy actor Tongayi Chirisa is in the Witches /Talamasca crossover already

I would be happy because I LOVE The Vampire Lestat book...... if it wasn't for the fact, I hate the tv show version of Lestat.

I bet season three will be "more popular" and promote more, seeing how the main character will be a terrible version of my Lestat, who is white. I hope we see more of Louis and Armand, though (but then again, I won't watch it because I dislike this version of Lestat). They were the reasons I watched season two.

1:27:26 I love the book but the book was depressing as hell they go into great detail about how centries of loneliness f*** you over and even if you have vampire companions it will never last and goes into detail of struggling with your humanity and struggling with change. Loneliness aside but can you imagine witnessing everything you know and love change from the clothes you wear, the houses and architecture, to the very beliefs and religions of entire nations change. The entire book series was more about Anne Rice's philosophical musings about immortality and questioning the existence of God. For me the characters where simply a backdrop for pondering these questions from different perspectives. Bless her soul but Mrs Rice's book definitely had some messed up parts where she forcefully went out of her way to describing Egyptian Vampire God's close to the equator as white people ❓❓❓❓And then she said they became darker when they where burnt by the sun 😅 please. And she had this weird obsession with describing how white the vampires skin was multiple times for the same characters for all her books but that's beside the point😅. Anyway what I'm saying is im glad of the Artistic liberations the writers took and I 1000% prefer the series over the book. And despite what many readers might think if the book was made into the series without any changes it wouldn't be as entertaining 🤷🏽‍♀️ we would have depressed characters having long monologues about the meaning of life and having thoughts about self deletion all the time and thats not fun to watch 😮‍💨
