Thank you for sharing your experience 🥹 I got shortlisted for the assessment day and everybody was so excited for me and they all thought I’d book the job but the few days before the assessment day I started realising many negative reasons and trade offs that made me struggle so much with nerves (it was overwhelming and conflicting! I was going crazy cus it seems like this should feel like such an amazing opportunity but I started to doubting so very much..) then I prayed and prayed and kept repeating “God’s will..” because I didn’t know anymore if I needed to go all in and dedicate my efforts into this new journey but it didn’t feel right at all.. Then the day came and I felt like I don’t actually want this job anymore and I focused on having fun with meeting new people instead, it was so sad to see everyone around me stressed and unhappy trying to book the job 😢 After the first assessment everyone of my new friend were certain I’m going to pass it, I actually didn’t even care about it by that point.. The result of the first assessment came and my number wasn’t displayed but the 2 girls before me got selected. I was thinking “so very close.. too close” (they were 208 & 209, I was 210) but I knew this was God’s plan and I felt so peaceful to leave the room.. Your story helped me understand the real side of the story for such a “dream job” and why things turned out the way it did.. thank you, God bless you 🙏🏻

I hope you respond. There’s an open call in my city and I want to go to it just for fun and have the experience of being a flight attendant. I have no desire to stay there for more than 3 months 😂 being extremely honest. I just want to wear the uniform and just experience, because a flight attendant. as a kid emirates was my first plane ride and I was mesmerized by their beauty and sense of positive attitude. I’m a trained chef, but I’m on a journey of completing my childhood dreams. My questions are, can I quit at anytime ? Do I get to keep the uniforms ? Is the 7 week training done in Dubai , online or your residing city ? Was the pay good? How many days off? Do I get to work in first class as a newbie ? How many hours did you work in a day? The countries you fly to , have you ever gotten the chance to explore those places while there ? Thankyou in advance if you do see this ! I hope and pray life is treating you beautifully and are flourishing in your endeavours. If I get accepted, I’ll give them a piece of my mind and maybe a slap or two , in honour for how they treated you. I’m not joking about that. Haha Speaking up is differently something I’m not afraid to do.

Michelle, you explained it very well. UAE is a capitalist country coupled with the racism and discrimination the place will be hell on earth. Indeed treating people just as a number is modern slavery. They are just using people to make more money.

Honestly, it’s quite normal for emirates to hire 5-7 people per hiring day. I was applying from Canada, and we also had only 6 people total hired. 2 white girls including me, 1 black, 1 east indian, 2 asians.

I had a really bad experience with the training and with the trainers, too much pressure and toxic training, I cried everyday, for me Emirates is an ilusion.

You are so sweet ❤I’ve joined in July 2015 but don’t remember you in the training college. When I arrived to Al Mamzar building 😄I had a welcome pack ( snacks, kitchen stuff) and 500 aed in cash.. you must have had them as well but your memory erased it 😅 I’ve resigned when they forced vaccination, apparently the company could not accept unvaccinated people which proves again that you are just a number and have to play their game. I still had amazing experience in Emirates, I grew as a personality and took the best out of it. Xoxo
