Nailed it. Great video. I have had 30 years on bikes, 7 of them on a HD (Fat Bob). The sound, the torque, the feeling, I wouldn't change it for anything now. You are 100% right about the indicators - they were clearly designed for the giant highway cruisers that change lanes once an hour.

I've owned 9 motorcycles of various styles and 1 can am spyder. Of all those, only 1 was a Harley (and it was a pan am special), but I've ridden/owned several 1800+cc v twins. From my personal experience, the thing that made me quickly dip out of HD was the customer service I got. Yes, there might be a dealer around every turn, but good luck finding one with a staff that is worth anything. Among the 3 dealers in my area, there were probably only 3 people total that I felt were truly competent at their jobs and didn't down-talk to me for not having a "real bike." Having some guy almost run me off the road with his truck with custom plates that said "fatboy" on it and a bunch of HD stickers on the windshield was just the straw that broke the camel's back. (and this was while I was on the Pan-Am) Sold the Pan Am Special for what I paid for it and got a Rocket 3. I love my Rocket. I love my local Triumph dealer. I love the fact that I can just stop by there and talk bikes/shoot the shit with the 4 people on staff for hours. You probably couldn't pay me money to step inside another HD dealer ever again. Sad too, because I actually enjoyed that Pan Am, but it's principle of the matter at this point.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I am lucky enough to have met nothing but very friendly Harley riders in my area, but I have heard that the dealerships can be less than welcoming. While I can totally see there being a Harley in my garage one day, I think a Rocket will be there first.

Have had plenty of bad experiences with Harley staff, mostly in parts department. Most seem to really hate their job. Harley actually pushed me away at one time because of it. In recent years I have noticed that the dealerships in my area seem to have got the message from customers and have improved somewhat. I have also had poor service in other dealerships, most recent was a Kawasaki dealer in the service dept. Harley riders have always been a fine group based on my experience.

Nice Job on the video. I appreciate the impartial review. I generally tend to avoid reading Harley reviews, as people are can be so polarized about "The Motor Company", and the comments tend to fall hard on one side or the other. Currently, I have an Electra Glide and a Buell in the garage. I grew up on Interceptors, Katanas and Shadows. As I've grown older my riding style has evolved. I traded my Fat Bob in for an Electra Glide when I discovered that I enjoyed riding long distances (back roads over interstates), and I found out that the GTL1600 had a year long waiting list at the time. Different tools for different jobs. Ride what suits you best. Keep up the good work.

Cruisers are not about freeway riding man. Sure, the H-D Touring line such as the Road Glide and Street Glide perhaps are, but the regular crusiers are made for cruising in the twisties where top end speed doesn't matter and it's about having a good time. I always think of sportbikes as being freeway bikes because they are just about riding fast and racing, while on a Harley you can chill on the twisties in 45-50 mph.
@VanBlamm2 жыл бұрын
That's a great point! I guess part of the reason I'm so drawn to standard bikes, particularly retro twins, is because you get that useable torque of a cruiser while staying light on your feet when the road curls up.

Have owned many Harleys and the turn signals have never bothered me.. Brakes on the Lowrider S are better than on my Z900RS SE with Brembo. I have ridden and owned all manner of bikes from dirt, sport, cruisers, standards and dual sport. Enjoyed them all for what they were and are. Harley is the only bike I have enjoyed getting out and just cruising and or pushing the pace. Most of the others I have just wanted to push the pace. . Enjoy what you have and have what you enjoy.

Most HD riders I’ve met are friendly, but there have been a few times when I felt like they just ignored me and my Triumph. I would like to ride one or two someday. Now I have met some HD riders who converted to Indian saying Indian plain makes a better bike. I’ve ridden an Indian Scout and a Chieftain. The scout was okay, but I’d choose a Speedmaster over it easily. Now the Chieftain was awesome in many ways. I could welcome one of those in my garage! Will forever be a Triumph fanboy, though!!

Yeah they are expensive for sure, too expensive really, IMO. I seriously considered at one point on trading my 2015 Harely Super Low 1200T in for the soft tail Low Rider S. It is an amazing motorcycle as you have found out. If I were to ever buy another Harely this one would be the one. But at over $17,000 new ? GMAB But who knows what the future holds. Maybe I will win the Lottery or not most likely, haha. Later By the way I bought my Harely Super Low 1200 T from a Female that was talked into getting it by her boyfriend, a Harley owner himself. It was also her first motorcycle ... enough said. I paid her in 2016 $6,000.00 for it (it had 1000 miles on the odometer). just saying
@kylefunk5465 ай бұрын
Haha soon to be a new rider and I’m stuck between the iron 1200 or the 114 low rider s haha granted yes the LRS is heavier, bigger and way more torque but I’ve never been a speed demon and I could potentially grow into this bike and not want another one and yes I’ll be buying an engine guard and rear frame slides and yea it’s more expensive but I think ima lean towards getting a LRS
@VanBlamm5 ай бұрын
Between the two, start on the 1200 and then upgrade. You'll pick up some bad habits trying to manage the LRS as a new rider. If you have the patience to start small and upgrade after a year, you will become a way more skilled rider and appreciate the LRS much more.

How does it compare to your Speedy?
@VanBlamm2 жыл бұрын
The raw speed is about the same, and tbh I have to be really hustling to get the Speed Twin to do something the FXLRS can't. The Harley of course blows it away on the open freeway; I think it's the first bike I've ever ridden that didn't have me reaching for a 7th gear all the time. Outside of freeway cruising though, I find the Triumph to be more flexible and easier to have fun on. Both bikes have larger-than-life personalities. The Harley feels like you're a shirtless barbarian riding a fire-breathing dragon. The Triumph feels like you're wearing a business suit with the tie loosened and bruises on your knuckles.
