New York City- Things to Do in December:
In this video we travel to New York and share about Broadway, Off-Broadway, the Statue of Liberty, American Natural History Museum, Central Park, China Town, Transit Museum, Times square, Katz Deli & Toms Restaurant.
Broadway- We still had our 'standby' Broadway tickets for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child from a canceled trip, but we had no idea if we'd be able to score any seats during the busiest season of the year, so we also purchased tickets to Little Shop of Horrors - off Broadway, just in case. The standby tickets came through without a hitch though and we wound up with some pretty decent seats. We thought the Harry Potter show had a great lobby and merch and some of the effects were pretty fantastic (although we both agreed we thought there would be more) however, we thought the story line was confused and often boring at times. I wouldn't say we were 'disappointed' with the Harry Potter show, we still had a good time, but I will say I think the show is very overrated and only on Broadway (as opposed to off-broadway) due to the franchise's massive following. We absolutely loved Little Shop of Horrors and were lucky enough to even see Corbin Bleu and Constance Wu as the lead characters. The sets were great, the script was funny and the talent was amazing. We definitely recommend seeing it if you get the chance.
Statue of Liberty - We had to do a little bit of running around that morning as we cut it pretty close to our Crown Access time window. We figured there would be a lot of people taking the tours, but we had no idea the process was as lengthy as it was. We had to go through airport-like security and then stand in a huge line waiting for the next boat to take us to the Statue. It wasn't a super long wait, but don't make the mistake of thinking you will be able to walk onto a boat right away. They recommended arriving an hour early. I think 30 minutes early would have been sufficient. We cut it a little too close by arriving on time. This tour is LONG. I would block out at least 4 hours for it alone. Maybe more. We didn't even get off the boat at Ellis Island and just returned to Manhattan after seeing the Statue of Liberty because we had already spent so much time there and had to leave. The crown access tickets was a very cool experience. I'm glad we did it.
American Natural History Museum - Once again, these New York museums are some of the best in the world so definitely check them out if you have a few hours to spare. We were shocked at how large the inside was once we got to walking around. This one has a large focus around taxidermy animals from all over in elaborate display cases. We enjoyed it.
Central Park - We explored parts of Central Park we had never seen before. The Bethesda Fountain and Mall areas were beautiful and lively. The Bow bridge was under construction and the Dealcourt Clock did not work like it's supposed to, but we had fun walking around and taking in the sights.
Chinatown - We wish we would have spent more time here. There's just so much to explore and look at. We only had time for a quick meal at Uncle Lou (recommended by a very popular NY KZbinr) and a tiny bit of shopping. The food was delicious and we went home with a Chinese Tea Pot.
Katz Deli - Worth it. Some people don't get waiting in a huge line for "just a sandwich", especially some of the locals. But we're from Texas and we know how much meat costs... and it's not cheap. So while some might not understand paying $30 for a sandwich, we understand you're paying for a ton of quality meat. The line moved way more quickly than we expected and the food was amazing.
Toms Restaurant - Iconic and the food is actually always really good. I'm a huge sucker for a good diner and this one is tasty and has all the right vibes. Great coffee. Great cheesecake. We will always come back.
Wilson's Tips:
1. Statue of Liberty Crown Access do not cost any extra but you do have to reserve your ticket way in advance. We recommend 3-6 months early. Don't forget to bring a quarter for the locker you will have to rent if you have anything with you besides a camera.
2. The Christmas tree in front of the NY Stock Exchange is the same size as the Rockefellar Center tree and doesn't get half the attention. Check it out if you want to skip the crowds at Rockefellar.
3. LINK NYC is a new system of Kiosks all around the city that can be very helpful in a pinch. Free Wifi, free phone calls and tons of city information. Don't hesitate to use them if you see them around.

Love this video guide and your tips. Great music too! If you can possibly add bookmarks for the transitions to the attractions it would be super helpful as the video shows additional places not mentioned in your tips. Happy continued travels!

Thank you! I’ll check that out again. I think this was one of those videos where we hit our character limit in the description and had to pick and choose what to keep and what to get rid of.
