Excellent video! Best I have seen for describing the problem and the simple fix you did by bending the arm that contacts the bump stop. This is exactly the same problem I am having with my 2002. I tried by simply replacing the torn up bump stop but it continues to hit the corner and begins to destroy it. Too bad GM didn't make the bump stops 3/16 or 1/4 inch longer. I do have a question for you. How difficult was it for you to bend the arm inward using the vice grips? This is definitely the process I plan to use fixing mine. I really don't want to remove the motor and install thicker washers between the motor and bracket to relocate the arm more to the center of the stops which seems to be the more accepted fix. My only disappointment with the video was when you were done bending the arm and you tested it to see where it hit the stop, the picture was all blocked by your hand and arm. Bummer😞 Again though, this was an excellent video!

Aftermarket pads are slightly different than dealer pads because of the patent. I had the same problem with my Honda fit. I switched to Honda pads and the problem was solved, no more thumping or clicking.

I did mine from the top in an hour. Disconnect battery, remove belt, disconnect alternator. Undo bolts. Lay alternator down in engine compartment placing it so the 3 small nuts are facing up. Remove with an extension and the plastic shield comes off. Alternator will come up easily between passenger wheel and engine. 2005 Tribute.

Just took mine to the dealership today for the same thing. Dead alternator and I assume dead battery, glad it was just a case of "no crank no start" after I parked instead of it dying on the road. These WK2 are good looking vehicles, but the build quality leaves a lot to be desired

Good job on your diagnosis of that Bosh air pump and taking the time to identify the underlying cause of the noise it was making. Unfortunately, many in today's society won't take the time to do this kind of troubleshoothing and choose to take the easy way out by ordering a new part. The only disagreement I would have with you is replacing it (if need be) with a knockoff or less expensive part. If a customer can't afford paying for OE then they probably shouldn't own a Mercedes.
