I am a week behind and we know the result of the election now, however: These two interviews were absolutely fucking infuriating. It all boiled down to "I was swept up in their cult like behaviour and I just get it you know!? I have a susceptible weak mind and look for anything I can coddle up to before I do any research and the algorithm has infested my wormed brain, so here I am at trump rallys! They just say lots of fun stuff in really interesting and smart ways. Do I think its lies? Probably, but I don't really care". Yeah thanks for that hard hitting analysis from a mid looking single white female who WELL WHAT A SURPRISE had an easy lane into a United States immigration pathway. I was absolutely amazed that she rattled off nearly every trump talking point out of completely unopposed by the boys who then at the end said, with the next guest "oh she's smarter than us". Shake my fucking head, 95% of what she said was just word for word trump fabricated propaganda from a long list, like she had it next to her reading it out. This is exactly why he won. People too stupid to know what they are talking about and they have platforms to spew their ignorance as if they are political historians who shape society with their knowledge of the system. What really happens is that if someone jangles some keys in their face they just blindly follow them wherever it will lead them. The 'no new wars' comment is especially scurrilous as days out from the election he was literally saying "we need to bomb Iran's nuclear sites" and not even the president yet, Iran said they will retaliate by hitting the US's bases in the region. LITERALLY THE DEEP STATE WERE TO THE LEFT OF THIS POSITION AND TOLD HIM TO FUCKING SHUT UP. I just can't anymore with this anti war nonsense, it was literally their only attempt to cling to some semblance of reality AND EVEN THAT IS FUCKING BULLSHIT. Here is trumps time in office: 2400 drone strikes in his firs two years, more than Obama in 8 years. He then changed the reporting rules, like the liberal party where you can carry out any strike you wanted and it was not reported on so who fucking knows how many more. Kept them in Iraq, kept them in Afghanistan where there was a 300% increase in civilian deaths. Bombed Syria twice and occupied a third of it to HIS FUCKING QUOTE "TAKE THE OIL" , bombed Somalia twice. Gave Israel annexation of the Golon Heights which pretty much lead to the ongoing genocide, assassinated Soleimani, tried to coup Venezuela. He dropped the MOAB on Afghanistan, pardoned Blackwater war criminals. (i owe Kyle Kulinski a beer) So get, going on a journey to absolute fuck is this guy 'anti war'. No pushback from anyone here, anywhere. Very mild from Jordan afterwards but even he described the stupidity of "here is a whole raft of lies, this guy is lying... oh you're going to vote anyway... well democracy is a sham then I guess."

Kamala was just a bad candidate and too far left. Nobody MADE kamala say that taxpayers should be funding illegal immigrant murderers sex change operations while they are in jail, she chose to say that. Also what do you mean about the open borders? If you let people come in ilegally and very rarely kick them back out, that is a de facto open border. Also taxpayers shouldn't be funding illegals to stay in NYC hotels and paying for their meals. Nobody should be coming in illegally and living off citizens dime. THAT is why trump won.

Guys kill it with the "educated people vote this way" spiel. it's such a low-effort analysis and makes you come across as very unrelatable, even to other people who've gone through those institutions. There's no reason to think that a person with a CompSci degree has any overlapping views with somebody who has a Fine Arts degree simply as a result of knowledge they've gained. The commonality is university sure - but maybe just maybe universities are ideologue factories, where young, naive and vulnerable people get brainwashed or otherwise learn not to speak. If you see an object moving away quickly from you, maybe the object is moving sure - or maybe it is static. Perhaps people going to university are the ones flying away from reality.

the arts degree in western sydney is statistically an indicator of upwards mobility for 1st and 2nd generation immigrant families. The BA is literally a gateway to better lives for most of my high school friends in Bonnyrigg and Green valley. your assessment of university is completely unfair and informed purely by your biases. I study international relations at the ANU in canberra because I want to work in the public service, as a bureaucrat. yes I own that fact. i want to work for the government. jordan pays lip service to the public service when he speaks about the libs gutting it, or how great K-Rudd is for working in DFAT. but I heard the disdain in Jordans voice when he spoke about bureaucrats on Mark Bouris. Arts degrees are great if you know where you want to work, and want to be qualified for it.

@@jordanashcroft738 that's why RFK would have won if the Democrats actually let him campaign. He was high up in the polls for third party until Biden dropped out. The Democratic social agenda has gone too far for socially conservative, fiscally liberal Americans.

Jordan makes a good point about old people, but the old people to whom he is referring (the non-partisan partisans) are a long-deceased breed here in the States. The type of person who would cross party lines is well over 90, I would wager. I know truly old people - in their 80s, who are complete partisans (mostly GOP) and who would never cross party lines. Those old people with the" civic duty" mindset that Jordan refers to are gone. They, and the culture they represented, were a casualty of the late 1980s to early 1990s neo-conservative movement, typified by the likes of Rush Limbaugh, a once very popular radio commentator here in the States, who used to have total domination of his market, and he influenced an entire generation (now the "old people") who are completely partisan, and have been primed for 30+ years for the advent of a Trump, or a "man on horseback".

My credit card company stuck up the interest 1-2% then sold the company to Citibank and they stuck it up to like 19% almost immediately. The problem is they can just randomly change the interest rate whenever they feel like it.

the confidence with which ali makes factual mistakes about basic policy is just a gripe of mine. "the money is going to the banks" (wrong, you pay the ato). "there is interest on uni debts" (wrong, it's adjusted for inflation, which is usually far lower than commercial interest rates). it makes the podcast hard to listen to, particularly because he positions himself as some sort of legal/policy/economics wonk. ali, if you are reading this, please adjust your tone in the direction of humility. you don't need to (pretend to) know every fact to be a useful contributor to the show. Take a little from the mislav approach! Turning this episode off, hope the next one doesn't open with 15 mins of conversation premised on Ali's misunderstanding of fairly basic higher Ed policy...

I'm dead scared that MAGA is coming to Australia. I've been thinking about it a lot over the last few days. Friendly Jordies should work with other comedians/ influencers to promote anti-american sentiments in Australia. Just as the daily mail publishes clickbait articles everytime there's a screw-up in the public health system everytime there is a US school shooting, every story of an american who can't afford chemo or has a $10,000 ED bill needs to be all over tik tok, instagram, youtube, facebook. Jordies should also see if centrist or right leaning comics throughout the country feel the same like Isaac Butterfield, Frenchy, Neil Kolhatkar and recruit them to the cause.

Jordan, can you PLEASE discuss on a video the digital ID stuff, the mis information bill, and now the legislation to prevent under 16's from accessing social media. It's all so orwellian and not at all what i would have voted for. IF this was on their election promises they 100% would have lost the election.

I genuinely think Jordies just went to a shit uni. To have such a negative opinion of universities and to not bother with passing his Italian units and not even bother with the get out of jail free card they gave him like... I think uni just isn't for him, and that's fine, but let's not pretend that uni sucks because you don't like it.

If you want free uni, entry will be highly restricted compared to wear we are now. Ali - this is just indexed on inflation. Hecs/HELP debt isn't some penalised loan thing. I doubt it is the banks who own that debt. Why are you so confident on banks and interest? Uni degrees are already highly subsidised for Commonwealth Supported places, which almost everyones undergrad is.
