Good video...we have both brands on hand, I lean toward the gold dots, but the hornady is just a smidgen behind...lots of folks down on .22wmr, but the mission is stop the threat, not necessarily to blow the threat in half...

When I brought home my first .22magnum gun and showed the ammo to my wife, she remarked, " It's so small." I replied, " it's not about size, it's about penetration." She winked at me and said, "You keep telling yourself that... maybe it'll come true someday."

It is good that now the 22mag is becoming available In revolvers and a few new pistol (auto loaders) the ammo makers are coming out with a fast burning cartridge. Most ammo on the market had been designed for rifles. I have been on the 22 mag bandwagon from way back with my old high standards and the AMT auto mag.

My automag II is also my backup, and the gun under my pillow at night. My wife has a nine in a bedside holster and I keep a 1911 and a shotgun at hand.

Interesting and informative video about the caliber of my backup concealed carry in the NAA mini revolver. I also consider the .22 Magnum to be for backup only but would like to see a comparison of it and my "other backup" carry, the .32 automatic. I just subscribed so if you have already made such a video I will look for it, if not, please consider making one. (Also maybe consider a lapel microphone?).

really great job on the movie.. I happen to have a K22 "first model" made in 1936.. it is so well made and shoots so well that people who shoot it are shocked that it is so old. It is not a "safe queen" this is the gun I use to teach newbies how to shoot. Everyone loves this revolver.. but to me it harkins back to a time like in you movie.

That is some impressive shooting, especially given the recoil of the unbraked .30-378. This video is an inspiration to younger marksmen like me, demonstrating that control and accuracy is attainable with lots of practice. Thanks for your work and we hope you keep posting!

For 3,500 it better be on par with Nightforce & us optics. I need another part time job now

For many years my go to has been a 300 H&H, pre 64. It's a good one but I'm looking at the 30-378. Which optics would you suggest for this fine shooting weapon? I'm thinking a VX-6 3X18.

Will a .22 magnum pistol also shoot .22 lr ??
@Roscoe_B8 жыл бұрын
No, .22 mag only
@helloshklosh41117 жыл бұрын
Chris Sabre I grew up shooting .22lr in .22 mag. .22 short as well. some guns then would be labeled so and of course many/most weren't. But we did it anyway. We always shot .22 short in .22lr also. But guns now a days state specifically not to.... I still do. The casing will bulge a tad and I guess of course has the ability to rupture but I not had that happen. Seen quite a few split closer to the bullet end.
@helloshklosh41117 жыл бұрын
Chris Sabre I personally wouldn't tell you it's okay....I don't want to be responsible if something does go wrong. So, don't do it.

No semiauto pistol chambered for 22 mag will function with 22 LR. No double action revolver chambered for 22 mag will will safely shoot 22 LR. The Ruger Single Six convertible model comes with two cylinders, one for 22 magnum and one for 22 LR.

I just picked one up and it is working on Winchester white box 9mm 115 gr. fmj. I have had good accuracy with it up to 12 yards. Using Federal Hydrashok 124 grain for Personal Defense. Keeping the mags clean is a good thing to do to help the rounds feed properly as well.

I have come to notice these vanguard series 2 guns are ammo picky i have a 300 weatherby mag and it only fires good with weatherby brand ammo i tried some hornady rounds through it and would get 3 ich groups or more at 100 yards tryed several different hornady rounds coudlnt get any of them to shoot well where as the weatherby brand ammo shot 1/2 moa groups on a regular basis
@droppinplates66658 жыл бұрын
+droppin plates dont get me wrong i love the gun just gets salty buying the ammo and at first i was getting a bit mad that it wouldnt preform to the 1 moa standard Then just by chance a local shop happened to have weatherby brand ammo i bought it and was amazed by the results n now order that ammo only for my rifle as its like a match gun now with that ammo with the hornady stuff i could actually out shoot it with iron sights on a yugo 8mm mauser if anyone else has troubles similar just order the weatherby ammo and you will see the potential of the gun

Perhaps it was not called a Model 51 - but I just saw a Brand New S&W Revolver in 22 Magnum for sale at a Gun Show on Saturday January 30, 2016. I believe the Dealer had the price up in the $850. range. It had the newer style S&W Wood Target Grips. Actually I feel with the price of 22 ammo now a days - you mind as well buy a bigger caliber - such as 38 special.

+Sweet Tea Wilhite The Fjestad Blue Book suggests values in the range of $500 - $600 for examples with 95% to 98% of original finish. A couple of years ago I'd have said this is on the low side, though at local gun auctions in recent months gun values in general seemed to have leveled off or even decreased a bit.

I just got the Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 in .308 Win. I was under the impression that I could run 7.62x51 through it, but the barrel reads, "USE ONLY .308 WIN." ?
@risingawareness138 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that's true I've discovered. The 7.62 has identical exterior dimensions to the 308; but it has less internal space for powder, making the load (normally) a little lighter. This is because the 7.62x51 has a casing that is thicker than the 308's, so that it can be fed through machine guns. True story : )

Nice shooting, brother. Wiki says that the cartridge has enough energy at 700 yds to still be viable for elk and moose. That's some heavy downrange energy, and I'd love to have one even tho my skill will never match it's potential.
