Weatherby PA-459 SA-459 TR shotguns shooting test review

I had a look at the Weatherby web site. It appears current production PA-459s don't have the rail on the forearm. Instead there is a rail available as an accessory which attaches to the magazine cap. Actually not a bad idea, as a light/laser on the forearm moves as the action is being cycled, attached to the cap it should be more stable. Thanks for the nice comment!

The SA-459 looks like an amazing semi auto for the price. I know the PA-459 ius a great gun I haven't heard one complaint about the pump action version. The semi auto looks like one hell of a gun too. I may pick the SA-459 when i am ready for a Semi Auto tactical shotgun.

Sorry I missed this question. The SA-459 comes with two pistons for either heavy or light loads. Assuming the correct piston for the ammunition being used it should handle most 12 gauge loads.

Yes, I have an SA-08 in 20 gauge. I shoot it better than any other shotgun I've tried, thought I'm not a great wingshot - don't practice nearly enough. Very well made, handsome and reliable shotguns. Don't know if barrels interchange, they likely would (assuming same gauge of course) but you should probably check with Weatherby.

ill tell you more then this does about the pa 459 in a quick blog. you want a tube extension its possible the benelli super nova tube fits, extra 2 in 3 or 3 in 2 3/4. It does not like being fired dry it needs proper lubrication. It Is a very light shotgun so recoil is felt way above normal, It offers the quickest factory sights on the market and has a awesome choice of patterns. It is bought for 420 plus 25 back and sales tax in cali at sportsmens . I love my 459 and the only other shotgun i want is a aa12 . dont let gun snobs try to talk you out of it. I bring up weatherby and many gun snobs shut there mouths. Owning even a lower end firearm from a reputable company really doesn't matter. buy a weatherby yes they might be made by stefano a italian company but does it really matter the quickest way to laugh at a gun snob is bring up something that isnt real like say a american arms whatever. When they act like they know what your talking about you know all they care about is proving you wrong. Why talk to people like that its pointless all they car about is there opinion.

I have a question for anyone who has shot the SA-459. I am looking at getting it because it seems like an amazing rifle for the price. I have heard people say that it has difficulty shooting low brass ammunition. Is this true?

+Rod Harrell Federal pheasant loads, 1 1/4 oz #6 @ 1,500 fps, It's been a while but I think the light load piston was in place.

I can't give an exact answer but I do find the sa has noticeably less recoil. I've been thinking of getting the 20-gauge version of the SA-459 for even less recoil.
