Great vid guys ! Thanks for sharing , your budget is pretty good . We have just done 6 mths up the north of WA NT SA. And sit around 5,000 a month for 2 adults . We did have a 10,000 month but had repairs . Wether you have an expensive van or not things come loose ! It suits you and that all that matters . Don't get caught up in whole "keep up with the jones" scenario! Stay safe and enjoy 🎉

Legends, thanks so much for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. It’s really appreciated! That would have been terrible to cop that $10k month, but it’s something that can easily happen doing this stuff. Do you guys have plans to hit the road again soon?

Nice guys! I wish I was able to budget 😂 if you blew your budget what was it? Did you have a number in mine for 100 days? 17k sounds pretty good when you consider 6 lives living and travelling on the road. 🤙🏼
@RoamingCoastlines19 сағат бұрын
Hahaha! Thanks mate! Honestly we didn’t really have a budget it mind, we are just trying to keep spending to as much as a minimum as possible. We are happy enough with the amount, a little less would be nice. Title is for the old KZbin shock value haha, it’s the only way to get your videos out there a little bit as a small creator. Have you got your van yet?
@CruiseandConquer18 сағат бұрын
@ I was meant to be getting it tomorrow but I put it back to January 6. Gives me a little more time to prepare the house for tenants and get Xmas done and dusted etc. loving your journey so far man! I can’t wait to get the van, it won’t need anything but I’ve still got a very long list for the car 😦
@RoamingCoastlines18 сағат бұрын
I thought it must be coming up soon! January 6 is not far away at all anyway mate. Will be so bloody exciting for you guys, keen to check it out! Honestly from what I’ve learnt on the road, the most important one to not want to do anything to is the van, that’s where you spend most of your time. I wouldn’t stress too much about getting every single thing done to the car, just what’s necessary. I reckon one thing I wish I did get was some proper layered window shades, it’s so bloody hot over here and I think they would make a great difference
@CruiseandConquer18 сағат бұрын
@ yeah nice! I just still need some essentials done but I’ve still got 4-5 months to chip away. If I have to get some things done during the trip I can do that I spose too. We will be working and going to remote communities to work where possible too. Will be a good way to unlock some hidden gems hopefully
@RoamingCoastlines18 сағат бұрын
@@CruiseandConquer that sounds incredible mate, I reckon you will find some absolute gems doing it that way!

Good on you for getting out there. This would be more interesting if you also shared what your fuel costs clothing costs etc where before hitting the road. We are lucky enough to be retired & can head out for a couple of months then home again. So the perfect mix. We also have a pop top Jayco & we love it. It's not about the van it's about the destination. 😊 And you are right the people in the 300k set up don't see anything you don't.
@RoamingCoastlines21 сағат бұрын
@@fsparkman3343 100% mate! Thanks so much for checking it out and taking the time to comment. We could have included that stuff, but didn’t think anyone would be too interested in what our costs were before travelling. As we said in the video but, our groceries are slightly less, mainly due to lack of choice. Fuel is significantly higher now, we didn’t do a hell off a lot of driving back at home. I’m guessing clothing etc would be a lot less now as well due to lack of opportunity to buy/ trying to limit purchases to necessities only

What dog bed are you finding works best and how are you storing them?
@RoamingCoastlines22 сағат бұрын
@@craigpatten8349 we found these current beds in a discount changing called “red dot” when we were in Karratha. They have like a water proof style cover on them and seem to be holding up so much better than others we have had. Usually when we travel they just sit on the couch. When we are set up, if the dogs are in the van, they are on the ground where the table would usually go. We kind of just move them around as needed. Hope this helps!
@craigpatten834922 сағат бұрын
@ I’ll check them out, we are trying to find a good bed for our two English staffys so we can boot them out of our bed.

It's the unplanned breakages that rattle the budget and trip plan. When you have a van or vehicle component failure it is unplanned costs and you have extra expenses of accommodation being parked up while you are waiting for repairs. We found once we hit the NT top end (Aug - end Nov) it was too hot not to have air con so we ended up doing mostly caravan parks.
@RoamingCoastlinesКүн бұрын
100% mate! It’s quite easy to plan out the normal stuff. Always scary thought about the more serious breakages happening. Thanks so much for watching mate!

You really don’t need the fancy vans….. we’ve been lots of place with a standard van (jayco mostly)…. Even done the so called caravan wrecker road… The Gibb, not even a flat tyre….. although we are now reaching retirement age and bought a new van and put a battery system in to run the aircon amongst some other mods….. but still not the “ full on fancy vans”.

Great you are living within your budget. More videos like yours gives potential to enable families to hit the road, even for a short time. DOG BEDS: Do your dogs chew their beds, or do the beds get dirty? For our 5kg dachshund, i put a pillow protector and pillow slips. When dirty just an easy clean of the pillow slip. Keep a couple of cheap pillowslips as spares.
@RoamingCoastlinesКүн бұрын
Thanks so much, that’s definitely our aim. With dog beds, our main issue has been getting really dirty, beyond washing. Or main mistake was we didn’t really plan that out before we left and we went through a few sets of cheap ones. The new ones seem to be holding up much better, they just take up a bit of space. Ours used to love sleeping on pillows at home, that was something we were considering doing again. We were after something waterproof for the newest beds, as they seem to get wet a fair bit even through we try to avoid it later in the day
