I don't want to compare artists, but one of my favorite remixer is TRONICBOX and this rendition is the most transformative new jack swing remixes I've heard in a long time. others miss the mark for me but this hits HARD it's so good! So this unreleased demo stemmed off an earlier draft of another song Max Martin was working on called "Played with your heart" which eventually evolved into Britney Spear's "Oops I did it again" (2000) and I think we could still hear some of the similarities between them especially in the bass. TLC heard the demo for "Played with your heart" and it was meant to be in their 1995 album CrazyVideoCool with further re-arrangement and production by Darkchild, but it got scrapped in the end. Arianna was transitioning from child Broadway star to being a rnb/pop solo singer and this song was to be her debut, but back then her and Brandy were kinda in a fued after Ariana publicly claimed that the other stole the starring role of Disney's Cinderella (1997) from her. Many fans speculated this to be true as Arianna would have been the obvious choice with her experience on Broadway. It was said that Brandy and Monica set aside their own conflict to release "The boy is mine" Duet a year before Ariana was set to release her debut album, now we all know about the allegations about Ariana stealing Monica's bf at the time. Darkchild also partly produced Brandy and Monica's song "The boy is mine" but he claims the title and hook were changed without his knowledge- originally the title was "I think it's time" (Fred Jenkens, Japhe and LaShawn Daniels have never commented on this). So Ariana was forced to scrap the song and go with "Baby I" which still made waves but I do wonder sometimes what it would have been like if she was able to release this song back in 1999?

Oh, the memories! I remember how shocked everyone was when this song was first released in 1982. People were crushing the 7' singles in the street. I managed to steal one while the crowd was distracted by the media. Cardi B showed up at another protest in disguise and talked to the media as though she were protesting. Those were good times. I was devastated when she died in that car accident in 2003. I still play this song in her memory every year. R.I.P. Cardi 1958-2003

The original is amazing, but this slaps too! Reminds me of Sonic CD which is from 1993 and a lot of the music resembles music from the 80's of course. It's got that new jack swing feel like Sonic CD.
