If I could make a suggestion that you color the head of your ammo with different colored markers so it's more difficult to accidently mix the brass. I often shoot cartridges that have different weight bullets and/or are loaded a different number of times. Just a suggestion.

My Rossi Puma model had a saddle ring and didn't have the buckhorn sight which I'm not so fond of.

Years ago I bought a Rossi Puma model 92 in .357. I've loaded .357 ammunition before so it was a good fit. I carried that rifle as a truck gun in the ranch truck for many years until I wore it out, so to speak. It broke an ejector spring one time and that was the only problem I ever had with it. I ran thousands of rounds through it over the years and it always remained accurate. I harvested every imaginable animal here in southern Colorado with it, including elk. You cannot go wrong with the Rossi if it's anything like mine. I bought a Rossi model 92 in .44 magnum because I liked the .357 so much. I did not, however, like the .44 mag. as much so I sold it to an outfitter as a camp rifle.

Two screw heads on the side of the receiver. If there are two and they are parallel, it is a post '64. It the screw heads are in a triangular pattern, it is pre '64. Simple and noticeable from any angle or distance.

I got the SBL opened the box and back sight was broken off but there customer service was great they sent a new one out in minutes

Here is some experiences. I live in Texas. We have lots of wild hogs on the ranch. I have dropped a lot of big bruisers using a 44mag Henry, 20" barreled rifle. I use a 240gr XTP HP. Yes, everyone says no, don't use them. However, that load with a max load of W296 powder drops them, DRT. I guarantee a bad guy will not be operating normally, catching something like that. I have taken lots of deer doing the same with a Marlin CB 1894 357, 20" barreled rifle, using a 125gr XTP. If sheer speed is the desire, I suppose those loads you had are for you. I guess we have to ditch our handguns for defense? Calling BS on this whole deal.

Forgot about that carbine completely, but for decades wondered why there is no 44 carbine anymore!

Seems like all you can find from Marlin is the trappers. Good luck finding the guide gun or the classic 30-30 series anywhere. Over 3 years now and they still aren’t available.

What is max effective range for the .357 from a carbine?

Love the idea of a 9mm +P carbine. Really wish it was in something other than a direct blowback. Love dbb in a pistol like it less in a carbine.

LOL I wouldn't pick either one . And ruger's absolute junk. The 10/ 22 is the only 22 on the market that has the last shot bolt closed so you can dry fire your rimfire gun all day long lol. Ruger handguns feel like bricks in your hand and totally inaccurate and their rifles are just junk. Everything they make is junk now they've ruined Marlin 😢😢😢😢

i've been considering buying a Rossi myself, I am caught between .357 and .44 magnum but so far I have heard nothing but good things about them. I apologize for the ignorance of my questions but is it safe to recommend this rifle???? I want a large caliber lever gun and my only options are rossi or henry

That’s excellent news! I do have a few rounds of 35 Rem, but they are hard to find. I recently found a shop that had 28 boxes of 35 Rem “Leverlution” ammo. My issue with that is while it’s stiil a 200grn bullet, I have to re-sight my rifle for that round. I prefer to use either the Remington or Federal ammo for that reason.

If you buy a Rossi, don't be surprised if you have to work on it to get it to run. Don't count on their customer service either 👍

This channel and Ky Ballistics are the best! I Have 454 Casull in the Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan revolver. Stupid power is so spot on. At full power its not that far below a 45-70, rifle round.👍

The detachable magazine makes the gun. I have an older1978 version with the finger pinching loading gate underneath. Loading is slow and it sucks.
