Grahame, thank you so much for this very informative and expressive tutorial. I am not new to watercolour painting but learned new techniques which I will practise. I look forward to searching out more of your excellent work.

Lovely painting! May I also ask what is the name of the guitar piece? Also lovely!
@PaintingWatercolourАй бұрын
Thank you Katharine but I'm afraid I don't know the name of the guitar piece - it's library music and doesn't have a title or composer listed

I use Daniel Smith paints and have trouble with granulation of French Ultramarine even though I paint with board at 45 degree angle. Help
@PaintingWatercolourАй бұрын
It is difficult to completely avoid granulation with ultramarine Gail but you could try using a hairdryer. I know it sounds odd but it does seem to reduce granulation. You could also try phthalo blue red shade which is reasonably similar to ultramarine but doesn't normally granulate.

I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve been painting for about eight years and never learned this method before. Thank you for finally ending my ignorance and teaching me the right way to soften edges. 🩵

Why u have not painted the cable joining the poles. It would have given more depth to the picture. Any how a marvellous painting. Hays off to u.

I didn't have time to finish the whole video. Not sure if you spoke about this or not, but Paul henry is one of my fav landscape painters. He painted that area over 100 times! I'm American and I clicked because I knew I heard the name Connemara before.

Great work, Grahame! I see zero issues with this painting! Might I suggest, at the end you mentioned knowing when the painting was done yes/no. I too stop at the same point as you did. But, I do one more step. I "always" sleep on the painting and come back to it the next morning when I'm fresh (with fresh eyes and mind). I then create a list of no more than five items to fix (at the most). This limits reworking it to death. If it needs more than five fixes it should probably head to the paper cutter to use as test scraps! I really also like that you did not try and tie the wire poles together with any sort of lines. Besides it being difficult to do (mistake city!), with the poles being that far away the lines would have just been a distraction. Good Job!
