the 2.7 is very reliable. the 3.5 was absolute dogshit and very unreliable. 3.5 was also in the 1st Gen Kia Sorento and Kia Sedona...terrible. 2.7 is bulletproof as long as you changes the timing belts on time. 2.7 was in the Sonata, Tiburon and Kia Optima and Kia Rondo.

I have the same 2.7 V6 in my Tiburon. I had some issues at first but took care of them. These engines are good up to 250k which I have heard only thing is timing belts is a huge issue with this motor. If its been past 5 years since last change I would replace it.

Yes but you will throw a code and when you get it inspected you will have to put the stock cat back on its a waste of money for what 5 to 7 extra HP. Just get a high-flow cat or just go downpipe back all the way out with a 3inch exhaust system.

@cindysue5474 you won't throw a code if you put the right mini cat o2 fouler on, it's all about having the right hardware. If you just throw a down pipe on any car, you're going to get a check engine light, you have to do your research and get the right stuff.

The 8R was probably running a weak OTS tune and also TCU locked. If he was running EQT it would have been game over but still very impressive from the N I'm not even hating.

@@ndriverkg104 I have been doing it on my manual and it added 4-6mph on 1/4 mile. I have a really built N with just a safe tune on it. But no lifting will help you. Bring it close to the red line, clutch in shift fast never let off gas. Must be over 6k rpm to do it. Do not do it under

how does high hp in the manual feel compared to the dct? I have a manual Veloster N myself and I have the s-400 turbo installed on it already. I'm just waiting for the ultra flow pump issues to be sorted out so I can install the other stuff and get it tuned. I'm going for about 400whp since the VN engine is weaker than the EN otherwise I'd go for closer to 450. just curious about your experiences with high hp on these cars

I have considered it but especially after seeing you and others have issues with the meth getting clogged, I would prefer not to rely on something that you can't reliably detect when it fails like meth. the ultra flow pump is supposed to be good for 400whp on 93 so if an injector goes out (I've had it happen once already somehow) you will very quickly know. I have new spark plugs, new injectors (sonata), new coils (sxth) ready to go with the s-400 I already have installed. just waiting on the pump. I've heard different numbers as far as what the VN engine can take but sxth says 420whp is safe so I'll keep it around 400whp until I decide to build a motor.

since the VN has weaker pistons, I was told that it would help relieve some stress from the engine if I ran wmi. maybe I'll think about it more so for cooling than octane. should be able to do 50/50 easily with the upgraded pump once it gets here. I do already have the sonata pump, just not installed. how often do you have to refill your tank on average? i still daily drive my car
