My dude, how do you leave the Ice Man and David Thompson off your all-time ABA starting 5, if your going just off talent?? 😭

I'm taking Oscar. No ins, ifs, or buts about it. I have Oscar as the greatest point guard of all time. He had a jumper, was bigger, stronger, and more athletic than West and was a superior rebounder and a better passer. A better overall player. West played with far more talent and Hall of Famers/Top 50 players than Oscar. Oscar had the misfortune of playing on some bad teams.

The Kings should have retired Jerry Lucas' number 16 jersey, but under the Royals jersey as he was the legend and hall of famer not retiring Peja's number 16 jersey first which was the terrible decision and I was disappointed with the Kings franchise. If the modern fans say Jerry Lucas played for the Kings franchise and never played in Sacramento, but the Kings did the right thing by retiring the Big O's number 14 jersey at Sacramento even though he never played for Sacramento, but for the franchise under the Cincinnati Royals jersey. Also, the Washington Wizards should retire hall of famer Walt Bellamy's number 8 under the Bullets jersey because of his accomplishments and impact with the team as the Wizards franchise still didn't give him the credit and I don't know why they haven't retired his number 8 jersey like they were too lazy to do so. Those were the two wishes I want to see these two legends' jersey number by those franchise teams.

An honorable mention I would like to give is Boris Diaw, he didn’t have a flashy game but he was an all around player and a great passer for a Forward was one of my favorite players when he was on my Spurs

I think the word "good" is an understatement and should be replaced with "great!" As I've told everyone I know for the last half-century, their '73 team was the greatest of all time to have not won a championship, and that is attributable SOLEY to "Dave the Butcher"s" hacking of Hondo's arm in the semi-s that year. Cowen's OWNED Chamberlain that year and the Celts would have easily disposed of the Lakers had they met in the finals. I certainly enjoyed watching their 70's iteration much more so than the more lauded 80's version due to their defensive prowess and for what a lot of people have seemingly forgotten: Hondo, Cowens, and Silas were certainly one of the greatest frontcourts of all time and rarely get the credit they deserve for being so.

Yes Part 2 please. do you know anything about the Howard Porter and Pittsburg condors . when Porter went to the Chicago Bulls of the NBA , they played Pittsburg in Florida vs John brisker. Brisker was told he'd get a $500 bonus if he took Porter Out . That's all I've heard and don't know what or if anything Happened ? Maybe you know or heard ?

Some really cool stories to add: Pacers coach Bob "Slick" Leonard also punted a basketball into the stands at Utah while arguing furiously that a Utah shot should have been waived off for missing the 30-second buzzer. He was suspended and fined, but the next time Indiana played at Utah, the newspaper pic of the punt was on the program cover. Leonard took it well, smiling as he accepted an honorary program from the Utah owner. Pacers' Roger Brown served as an Indianapolis City-County Council member while playing. He was on the road with the team on election night, and the visiting announcer announced the vote totals back in Indy. That's how he found out he had won. Brown served one term. The NBA refused to let Brown in the league because of old unproven allegations he had been part of a game-fixing scandal in college at Dayton. He sued the NBA in 1969 over this, and was allowed to join in return for dropping the suit. But he stayed with the Pacers, perhaps to run for the seat.

Similar to 80s baseball. A lot of good teams and for whatever reason, talent was spread out without one player or group of players dominating.

Saw them both ( Im 72 yrs old) Every all time great player is unique, but you can make some limited comparisons in some ways.West could score like Kobe, and defend like Kawhi. He also had the mental toughness of Michael. Oscar was more like an earlier slightly smaller version of LeBron, unmatched all around skills for his time - just slightly short of LeBron in physicality but I think maybe a small edge in Bball IQ although both were great physically and mentally. Big O also reminds me a bit of an earlier version of Luka in the physical and skill aspects of his game. An earlier version but with more maturity

Great breakdown! This team is severely underrated! This team was great, and ending the Celtics' dominant run was legendary! I would still have to say that Russell's Celtics are still the greatest team in NBA history. It's next to impossible for a team to accomplish what they did. Today's nba players are nothing like those men were mentally.

Greatest unrealized talent in Mavericks history. Supremely coordinated big man who could rebound in his sleep. I remember coach Motta saying the ball just seems to find his hands. He was also a capable defender with evolving offensive skill and good touch from ourside. Imho he probably wnds up with a 17 pt 12 rebs career average had he been able to be fully committed to the game. Unique talent

After using this team in NBA 2K, their defense is incredible and one of the top 3 best defensive classic teams. If you try and use this team in play now online, funnel anybody and I mean ANYBODY into the paint because Russell’s going to stop them, use Sander’s to guard anyone over 6’5, and spam Sam Jones and John Havlicek mid rangers. Really good team and can win a game offensively or defensively.
