Hi, I need to replace the brake caliper brackets (brake pad holders), but the old part is rusted through. I ordered a new brake caliper, but its mounting hole spacing does not fit with the old brake pad holder. I saw in a video that you have brake pads with the same mounting system as the new parts for my car. Could you tell me where I can get a brake caliper bracket (brake pad holder) with a mounting hole spacing of 145mm for the caliper side and 90mm for the car side? Do you happen to know the part number or any other reference for this spare part?

Thanks Chazz for very useful video. I changed front bearings on a 2012 Mondeo Titanium x with 90k miles. Only items to watch was that bearings were very tight in hub, even after heating them with a blow lamp. I thought the bolt would snap like it did changing a mk3 Mondeo bearing with a different tool. I note some tool suppliers now sell replacement bolts. I avoided the issue of getting the fit tool clamp halves stuck by skimming rust off outer face of hub. There was no issue removing them. Tool worked really well and as there were no instructions, your info was very important

Also, RH drives haft was a bit seized in old hub, but a 3 leg puller and blowtorch heat worked. Next was Aldi Jackhammer if it had not moved

Dont struggle with bolts like that mate,2 options 1,cut off and buy new one.2,plumbers blow torch 100% both will get that bolt removed.

Probably worth patching to a decent standard to last another year or so. To do it properly would be major major surgery which I’m not suggesting, but to a standard it’s legal and safe and sell it on later with a clean conscience, otherwise you risk buying a whole heap more issues with another car. Problem is you’re asking car folk who get attached and like keeping old sheds on the road so we’re probably not the best to ask 😂 good luck whichever way you go

Mate invest in a proper battery 1/2inch impact gun, forget one for air compressor there thing of past. Buy a Milwaukee I use one everyday there isn’t a bolt that it can’t undo. That thing your using hasn’t got any more power in it than a battery drill no wonder you always struggling 😂👍🏻

Cheers for the advice, i will look into one.

You need to treat your self to a better “buzz gun” I know they cost loads but they deliver on bolts like those. Plus nothing worse than working in a jack and no axel stand. Then you put the jack under the suspension arm so it doesn’t flex as you use a breaker bar.
@ChazzCoombes7 күн бұрын
I know, was thinking about getting one for the air compressor, might be better. I hate working on a car without axles stands, but sometimes we have to.

Hello. I would not give up on the MK4 Mondeo. These are good, solid cars, that there will no longer be built by manufacturers anymore. I also have my own 1.8 tdci Mondeo, and I would rather repair and keep maintaining it, than switch to a newer car, like those with stupid downsized engines with a lot of problems and lots of plasticky components, which fail less sooner than old cars'.
@SWRIGHTY19848 күн бұрын
😂 what the hell are you doing? Get a nut gun on the lower bolt simple straight off probably easiest component to replace

U need to get the car higher up on axe stand to give u more space to get it undone with the breaker bar and also get the shock back bolted on as it's just bouncing when U hit it with the hammer as I undone it on the top

And I'll hope to see the next video as I've also got a MK4 Mondeo

Don't bother with the hassle trying to remove the surround. Just put plenty of silicon around and over the area to seal it - even if the rubber has popped off the top , you can seal around ( and over the top if necessary). Other than it looking neater you are not gaining anything by this tricky removal /refit ( as you have still stuck it down with silicon) . Its not an area you see.

Hi. Have you had problems with the alternator of your ST220? If so, how have you solved it? I have the same one and the battery ligth goes on and off constantly. My 2005 ST220 (in panther black colour) turns on and work normally except for that problem with the battery ligth on the dashboard. I hope you can help me or if the same thing happens to someone here or happened to them, how do I solve it? Thanks. Kind regards from México ;)
