This topic reminds me of World of Warcraft and how Blizzard ended up scaling the numbers down of well, everything. I definitely agree that fleetpower and the number of ships has gone way overboard and I want individual ships to matter more.

What if comms was limited to in game? Can only communicate with civs you've completed the initial contract with. That way any teaming can be planned ahead of time.... but when push comes to shove, they'd have to flex toward what works best for their local game for the early and mid game.

I like using lithoid subterranean hive mind. Adding crystallization and planetscaper you can counter a lot of the negatives.

Just gimme good ground battles before the project closes.

Personally i like to mix in a few carrier platforms with the core artillery platforms. Helps deal with different fleet compositions

I would love a custom scenario mode where you can set up an assymetric galaxy with empires starting on very different technology levels, this would be the ultimate stellaris gameplay experience for me. Also, the idea of sectors having political ethics shifting from the main ethic of the species or the ability to backstab an ally are things that make me very excited!

The competitions in this were genuinely delightful - the 1v1 corvette duel was honestly more exciting to watch than any carpet blob battle and the race was brilliant, especially the 'differing solutions' to the final obstacle. First place having such an intricate and well executed solution and second place just skirting around it reminded me of Doctor Who when two Doctors come up with a way to disintegrate a door that's in their way and Clara just opens it.

Twenty thousand calculations per game day in a world where processors perform hundreds of *billions* of instructions per second shouldn't be an issue. It *is* an issue because those calculations are *very* poorly optimized. The game desperately needs an aggressive in-place optimization pass, not yet another system redesign that will inevitably ship with *new* performance issues that will go unfixed for years, just in time for another overhaul that will also promise to fix performance.

I LOVE that gradual integration feature! It saves a lot of research, saves time from setting a new species to upgrade every few months AND it feels more lore accurate in a democratic playthrough! Montu, why did they lock some of the empire customization choices to a portrait that matches the type that came with the DLC? Why can't I choose a Plantoids species trait if I have a vanilla human portrait? That's disappointing, especially when Paradox recently published Age of Wonders 4 which treats your ability to mix and match racial abilities with the appearance of your empire's race as a selling point.

I have no idea how these players get such insane economies and fleets so early, it's amazing to watch.

Ik this is an old video but I am finding early game missle spam is op. Plus utilities that boost projectile damage. Its incredible seeing ships with 3 or 4 weapon slots all firing missles and almost instant killing any ships

If i remember correctly, corvettes were op af at release because of the high evasion, so building destroyers/cruisers/battleships overall weakened your fleet.

Would actually be interested in hearing about what changes you guys made that finally made it click and go well for you. Was it just a function of having so many people in the final round compared to normal? Or did you guys make other changes?

I wish there was a universal doomsday where all planets and stars will be gone and all life would have to live in space stations and ring planets surrounding brown dwarfs and blackholes. Now that would be a proper doomsday.
