If I said “nope it’s three meals a day” and walked out of the room to my PDA child, she would follow me around screaming “Two!” At the top of her lungs and not stop until I re-engaged back in the conversation until we go round again. It’s so hard and I need support. Thanks for this video.

I have five children and three of them have autism my 35-year-old daughter used to do that a lot with her poop. She was having it all over the place on the walls everywhere plus clogging up my toilet but now she is so much better and cleaner withher yourself. My grand daughter is 3 and non verbal having a hard time with potty training her too.

Aww !! I love the bubble idea ! ❤ tysm, this helped me very much. My son is turning 6 very soon and felt the pressure from others to start potty training. It’s okay they don’t understand. But thank you so much for giving me the peace of mind. Us moms can too hard on ourselves. Take care and God bless ❤you

My grandson won’t even let you near his hair even when shop is empty or let you do it at home won’t go dentist either we know he’s autistic a lot of what your talking about he has the same symptoms he’s only three nearly 4 but they have only seen him for two half hour sessions and don’t see what we experience so say it’s just behaviour problems so mad can’t get anywhere with them it’s so upsetting 😢

I’ve just found your channel - I’m thinking about making videos of my experiences too. There is so, so much more to autism than the obvious. Did you know 80% of parents of kids with special needs split? We are also immigrants from the U.K. to australia so we have no family around and trying to make friends with a kiddo with ASD is almost impossible. I’m sailing down struggle street daily and I think sharing that may help someone. Thanks for your video!

It's a daily struggle. You won't get it right everyday or even every hour. Cry, make mistakes, apologize. Take time alone whenever you can It's necessary parents. It's natural to say why, and I wish I wish but you are where you are your child will always be what they are. Hard to accept, letting go of what is normal and acceptable and routine and perfect and what a child should be doing is A REQUIREMENT❤ and keeping up with people that understand and can relate is vital and keeps the disappointment at bay. One minute at a time❤ we will be okay and our children will be too✨️

Hello, I stumbled upon your channel a week or so ago and have watched a bunch of your videos. Thank you. I had yet to find a channel regarding parenting a child with autism that I felt I could relate to until I found your channel. It feels like you are inside my head, and explain exactly how I've felt since my daughter's diagnosis just under a year ago. So I wanted to say thank you, because it can be a lonely and isolating thing being a parent to a child with autism when you don't have a village or anyone around you who can relate. I did want to ask, I know we are in different parts of the world but you talked about your son's bike, and I was wondering what type of bike that is? I have been looking for an adaptive bike or trike for my daughter and haven't had much luck finding any that weren't thousands of dollars. Thank you so much! Please keep making videos.

We all live a bit habituated to the fact that we live on a living planet of blue, luminous sky, and rivers and oceans, and plants and animals. Consequently, some of us try to convince the rest of us that the truly glorious things are the astronomical things. But, imagine we had never experienced the living Earth, but only a 'dead' and static world. And, imagine that, at best, our way of life had ever been only that aboard a Star Trek-like space ship, and this without any flora or fauna. Under those bases of experience, now imagine we suddenly found ourselves on the normal Earth. We would be suddenly able to freely breathe of an open sky of luminous blue, and see clouds in that sky, and experience rain, and rivers, and oceans, and animals and plants. To suddenly finding ourselves on such the ecological Earth, the 'grandeur' of the astronomical would go all-but-unnoticed by us. We would be shouting and dancing, and shouting and dancing, and shouting and dancing, every hour of every day for a week or a month. We also would commemorate that first week of living on the Earth by an annual week-long repeat of its sense of mind-blowing awesomeness: shouting and dancing in greatest intensity for a week, at least once every year, especially over the same week of the same month as when it began for us. The astronomical is truly glorious. But not like this.

You can’t help. Believe me. And if either boy ever becomes violent toward you or otherwise unbearable, move out immediately and divorce. The mother will not allow you to defend yourself. And if the mother is physically attacked by either of them and you try to physically intervene to defend her safety, she will turn on you. Please never underestimate how dangerous teenage and adult autistic males can be. Physically for sure and often psychologically and sexually too. The mother will accuse you of harming her autistics, should you even lay a hand on either of them simply to restrain them from savaging someone else. You could easily become the recipient of accusations - which is very tenuous legally and could be life ruining. You will always take the back seat to the autistics. She will always put them first and she’ll hate you if you say one word about it. Look up the meaning of “Warrior Mom”. That’s what many of these women call themselves. Hell hath no fury and that hell will become your hell. You’re probably a generous and caring person. But I’m sorry, you should never have signed up to play step daddy to autistics or husband to a Warrior Mom. Your life and well being and happiness should matter most to YOU. Never allow anyone else to make you lose sight of that or guilt you into thinking that any of this is your problem.

I’m autistic and I greatly respect you for this video. Especially for the part about not looking excited. It’s a really great video, which is great at explaining how to help autistic children with Christmas. You obviously know a ton about autism such as taking things in small steps and making sure plans are in place so an autistic child knows what’s going on. For adults this is also very helpful.

My 14 yr old son hasn’t been diagnosed. Actually, he was tested when he was like 3-4 and was told he wasn’t autistic. The older I got and got more Info about high functioning autism and I question if actually does have it and was just misdiagnosed. Based on what I have read He doesn’t meet all the criteria either but then in some aspects i really question it. The more thought I give , the more anxiety I get with just a thought of being actually diagnosed and my biggest fear is PEOPLE TREATING HIM DIRECTLY OR MISTREATING HIM AND IT AFFECT HIM! I shut down with just the thought! My therapist advised if he thriving without a diagnosis, do I need the actually need it? He is wonderful kid! Polite, sweet& the teachers rave about him.. When i look back, when he was tested he had a few traits that make sense and he still don’t meet criteria. He grew out of most of them and now The only thing that sparks my brain is somewhat social, mild monotone and doesn’t understand some social cues. Anyone else can in a similar situation?

this way aba is child abuse. it is dog training on autism children. the only thing your child has suffered now is that his feelings are not listened to, and he has to suppress them and follow commands. which is super harmful, especially in children with PDA.

I was bottle-fed too. What a mistake. I'm 60 years old now, and although I have never been diagnosed with autism, because it wasn't a thing back then, I'm pretty sure I would have been if I had my time again. I will give you an analogy. Suppose you were to buy a brand-new house, and the garden had been laid with a fresh, new lawn. This garden would have very few weeds and moss, because the grass would already be established and prevent the weeds and moss from taking root in the earth. However, suppose that same garden was just left as bare earth. It would not take long before that same garden was covered in weeds and moss, because the grass would not be there to keep the weeds and moss in check. This is exactly what happens in humans. Breast milk contains healthy bugs which establish themselves in our intestines and protect us from overgrowth by parasites and other fungal infections etc. Without those healthy bugs giving us a protective layer, our intestines are taken over by a fungal overgrowth, similar to the weeds and moss on a lawn. Every time we eat, we feed this fungal infection, and then they have a dump. This is toxic and, because it is in our intestines, it gets absorbed into our bloodstream. Once in our bloodstream, these toxins are distributed from our head to our toes, including our brain. Hence, there are many problems caused by poor gut health, and the response can be different, depending on what type and quantities of fungus you happen to end up with. Autism is just one of the many illnesses caused by the situation. The only solution I know to be effective is a carnivore diet. This is consuming meat, fish, eggs, water and salt, but nothing else. This is a complete elimination diet, and it works because you are not consuming any sugar or carbs. It is the sugar and carbs that feed the fungal infection, so by removing them from your diet, you starve the fungi and it dies. It takes a good three months to be effective, but you are left with a body which is reset to where it was before the damage started happening. I wish you well.

I worked with autistics for years in residential and clinical settings. I no longer do and never will again, by my own choice. I’m sorry but I can’t imagine living with one. I saw it firsthand and it’s hellish. Autistics should never, ever be allowed to physically aggress against ANYONE by - for instance- hitting, kicking, biting, throwing objects and/or smearing stool. Which are all very typical autistic behaviors. I saw constant coddling and malignant tolerance of extremely dangerous autistic behavior and it was really eye opening. Not good. I’d advise everyone who can to stay completely away from this subculture. (Edited for spelling).

The biggest mistake was Tara making a big bubble of only her son and her. That approach will destroy a marriage. My husband and I have been receiving marriage counseling the last year as my son was diagnosed with high level functioning ASD. We also had to, or shall I say, are currently working on our communication. I totally understand the difficulty with who does what. You all need each other you both have something important to give. Don’t think one minute it won’t affect your children. If your marriage was improved the kids behavior will improve, I’ve seen it for myself. I mostly had to take a deep breath and realize some behavioral things our son has going on is going to be a big learning curve, so just be patient and it will come. Use all the support you can get from O.T. To P.T and ABA & church. To help you understand how to parent and what are reasonable expectations with consequences for desired & undesired behaviors.
